Micah POV.
I saw Jordan’s back, he got hurt, almost always someone gets hurt during these drills, most days it’s me, but now seeing Jordan’s back was all scratched with blood coming out of his injuries, I wanted to fuss over him, fuss over his injuries, to make sure he’s okay, but I couldn’t do that, not with dad around here. I stayed back when dad said to go on again, take off the shirt, I finally healed from the sunburns, but I’m in for some new injuries, I didn’t want to make an idiot out of me in front of my mate, I’ll be pushing myself to the max.
“Let’s go, let’s go!” dad calls again, I wanted to groan, I didn’t want to go again, the torture would keep going for another hour or two, if he’s feeling merciful, he’d let us go in an hour with minimal injuries.
Before we could do our next drill, he made everyone get down and start doing push-ups, right there on the freezing cold floor, I think the running made us all run a fever, we didn’t mind the cold, but now having to go down over the cold ground, I was freezing cold. I did my one hundred push-ups quickly, I might have skipped a few ones, my hands were bruised and burning now, I just wanted to get up, seeing my father busy torturing someone else, I got off the ground, rubbing my hands together, they are burning so badly, I looked over to see Jordan still going, his muscles flexing, I licked my lips, he’s one sexy wolf, but I had to look away, I couldn’t hide the lust in my eyes.
“On the floor Micah,” father yells at me, seeing that I’ve gotten up without his permission, he’s not a firm trainer, he’s a cruel sadist who loves to see people in pain, mostly me, I was about to do some push-ups but he stopped me telling me to start on abdominal crunches. These include laying fully on the frozen cold ground, my whole body shivering I had no shirt to protect my back, I felt like crying out, but I was going to start pulling myself off the ground.
“Joshua,” father calls, he came in and held my legs down, he had a smile on his face, his hands on my knees, slipping down to my thighs, I could hear a low growl, I didn’t need to look to see who’s growling, I could guess who that is.
“One,” Joshua says with a smile, he heard the growl too, but he’s ignoring it, his hands are still moving over my thighs, I kept pulling myself up, ignoring the coldness underneath me, my eyes were closed, I didn’t want to see Joshua’s smile, nor Jordan’s frown, I wished to run away, from them all.
“Fifty,” Joshua says, he’s wishing that I’d fall, he saw father punish me before for failing to do his training.
“Let him up, let’s go,” father calls, finally I could come up from the cold ground, I couldn’t help but hug myself, I’m freezing, I saw Jordan getting closer to me, standing right behind me, his body heat was just behind my freezing back, he got a bit closer, pretending to be listening to dad’s lecture, on our future war, against whom! The freaking zombies?
“Are you okay?” he whispers in my ear, I just nod my head, yes, not trusting my voice now, we need to keep going, although all I want is for him to hold me properly to help me feel warm.
“Micah, boy, let’s go,” dad says ordering us to go together this time, he wouldn’t call Jordan by his name, he’s only calling him boy.
“Loser owes me a hundred abdominal crunch, naked,” dad says with an evil smirk, of course, the loser does, he’s an evil soul.
“Funny,” Jordan says, he thinks it’s a joke, but he couldn’t be any farther away from the truth, dad means it, completely does.
The drill this time was different from the one this morning, it was more lower limb focused, after running a little bit, we had to jump through some tires, Jordan wasn’t trying to race me, instead, he actually held my hand helping me go on without falling, although we weren’t racing, we had to run to stay warm, the freezing cold air was hitting us in the face, my wet back and bottom felt painful now with the cold air.
We managed to finish the tire obstacle, but the course didn’t end then, we still had to go, running forward, we had to part hands, each of us had to get up over one of the balance logs, the cold and ice were covering those logs too, although I had a good balance, the ice betrayed me, my leg slipped, I fell on the ground hearing a crushing noise, I knew from the pain, I’m feeling right now, something bad has happened, I’ve been hurt before but never this badly, I looked down at my leg to see it in a weird angle, this isn’t normal, it was twisted to the other way around my knee, the pain was too much for me, I screamed in agony, this hurt.
“Micah! Micah!” I heard Jordan yells my name, coming toward me, everyone else was frozen, probably afraid of my father, he saw the odd angle my knee was at, his face lost all colour from it, he was worried about me.
“We need to get you to a hospital,” Jordan says, but dad never allows us to go to the hospital, we have to heal ourselves, we’re warriors, but I’m also Jordan’s little boy.
“No hospitals,” I mumble but Jordan doesn’t hear me, he’s too worried about my legs, my pain was getting the best of me, I didn’t want to die, not after I found my mate, not when I had the chance to live a happy life now.
“You spoiled brat,” I heard my father coming toward us, he pushed Jordan away from me, he saw my knee, my twisted knee, he didn’t even blink twice, taking hold of my injured foot, he twisted it back to its original place, the pain was unbearable, I screamed out loud, not caring about the glare dad gave me, or the calmness of the rest of the pack, this wasn’t bad, although I’ve been hurt before, not this bad.
“He needs a hospital,” I heard Jordan yells again, but father only scoffs in answer.
“He’s fine,” father says leaving me on the ground, my eyes filled with tears and pain.
