Micah POV.
The alpha, of the boy, as dad put it, is really nice guy, he’s not that old either, he’s taking over his pack responsibilities just like me, for once I did not mind having to endure a long meeting.
“Alpha Keiran, we’d be happy to host your brother over,” I say with a smile, if dad wasn’t here, I’d be happy to host many other wolves, I’d be happy to open our doors and let people in, let other wolves get involved with ours to change from our dull life to a more interstate one. Why push everyone out when you can have a full-on community, if I’m alpha, I would allow humans in too, they did us no harm, but maybe it’s better that dad kept them out, they are liabilities, innocents who’d be hurt by the cruelty of father and our pack.
“I’m glad to hear that alpha Micah,” Keiran answers me, I flinched, I looked up, is this a test? He can’t call me alpha, I’m the alpha’s son, the supposed to be the next alpha, but I don’t hold the title, father would whip me for hearing someone using his title toward me.
“Please, call me Micah,” I say with a nervous smile, although we’re on video chat, he could sense how nervous I got all of the sudden, he doesn’t know how hard of a punishment his words would cause.
“Of course, Micah, my brother, Jordan, he’s been moody lately, he got a lot of sass inside him but he’s a good warrior, he could take charge and show a lot of powers and potential,” Keiran says, I could hear how proud he is of his brother, how close to his heart he holds this new guy.
I envied them, I wished for a brother who’d care for me as he cares for his brother, maybe if I had a brother to keep me safe from my father’s anger, maybe then we could share the burden of being his kids. But instead, I had to smile and keep on going, pretending to be as strong as I’m supposed to be.
“Father, the one who’s in charge of training the whole pack would love a good challenge,” I say hoping my words would translate as danger! Don’t send him.
“As would Jordan! I’m glad to hear that, he’ll be over your place in four days,” Keiran says, I see my message didn’t send well, in four days, Jordan’s life would be turned into total hell and chaos, I pity the guy.
“We’d be happy to welcome him,” I lie ending the meeting, we’d be happy to ruin him, make sure to say your final goodbyes, once alpha Blade gets his hands on the sassy guy, he’s as good as dead.
I turned to my father’s calendar, checking any other meetings I had for the day, I prayed for meetings, his office is the warmest room in the whole place, it helps my aching bones feel some kind of relief, but sadly no other meeting was scheduled, I had to get up, I had to leave the warm room.
I walked toward the kitchen in search of food, I haven’t eaten anything today yet, us warriors as father like to call us, I’d prefer the poor unfortunate souls, we only get to eat what we hunt, but we all manage to steal a bite or two for late breakfast. Thankfully bread is allowed, I made myself some toast along with some honey, I need the energy to endure the day, it’s only ten am, it’s gonna be a long painful day.
I ate my food slowly enjoying the sweetness, I always had a sweet tooth, no matter what, anything that’s sweet I would enjoy, once my food was over, I washed my dish and went on the search for dad, I knew he’d want to give us all shores of the day, they vary from running errands to doing housework, to running patrols or scaring some innocent souls.
“Alpha,” I say bowing my head seeing my dad and Joshua sharing coffee in the living room, I was always left out, father always preferred Joshua over me.
“Ahh… my burden of a son, you finished your meetings?” He asks me, it’s supposed to be his, but I know people prefer talking to me than his ugly face.
“Yes, alpha, Jordan is expected to come over in four days,” I say, I was reporting to him, I didn’t expect his anger or rage, but my father is closer to being a rogue than being an alpha for the whole pack.
He moved quickly, his eyes going black, I didn’t see him move, I didn’t understand what he was going to do until he slapped me on the face hard, leaving a painful mark.
“What did you say, boy?” He asks me holding the collar of my shirt this time, I stuttered not knowing how to answer, I wrecked my brain for what I did wrong.
“Father… I’m sorry,” I was quick to apologize, but not quick enough.
“No son of mine would be gay,” my father says landing a punch to my guts, “the boy who’s coming is just a boy, not your next plaything,” dad says, that’s what I did wrong, I used Jordan’s name, not boy or wolf, it was my mistake.
“Of course, father,” I answer him hoping he’d let me go now.
“Get out of my sight and out of my house!” Alpha Blade said in his dominant voice, the one no one can say no to, I find it extremely hard to say no to him.
When he let me go, I took off running, I ran out of the house, I was in pain, the outside was freezing, I was now banned from the house until he allows me back in. I decided to shift to my wolf form, at least my wolf form could handle the cold much better than my human one. I ran quickly, light on my feet, I took off toward the woods, the whole town was ours and it’s covered with woods.
But getting banned from the house wasn’t a day off for me, my father was way too cruel for that, although I haven’t mentioned being in love with a boy again, not after that time when I was fourteen, dad would never forget or forgive. Now that I’m outside, every wolf in the pack had the orders of attacking me, of making the day a living hell, but I knew of a place I could hide in it, a place I call it mine.
