CHAPTER 116

Alternating looks between Christian and Rian, Damien didn’t make an immediate move.
“I’m not done yet.”Christian suddenly yelled, grabbing the cuff of Rian’s shirt. Pulling him to himself, he began to rough handle him while yelling curse words at him.
Rian, not wanting to be the weaker one, grabbed the cuff of his shirt too, reigniting the fight that was paused when Damien arrived earlier.
Laura, who was glad that Damien’s presence was going to put an end to their fight, quickly walked to him and then tugged his arm, “Are you going to stand here and watch them tear themselves apart? You have to do something.”She yelled.
Nodding, Damien replied, “Yeah, you’re right.”
Before he could even think of taking a step towards them, the fighting duos turned in his direction at once and with the glare they sent his way, it was enough to make him remain rooted in the spot.
“This is going to be harder than I thought?”He muttered. This time around, he didn’t mind them, he lunged into their midst, in a bid to separate them.
Just like he had thought earlier, he got entangled in their scuffle but thankfully, he was able to separate them, not after some scratch and pinches and then a punch which tore his lips from a fuming Rian.
“That’s enough now.”He yelled when Rian who wouldn’t stay down.
“Enough? I’m not done with him yet.”Christian scowled from the other end as he nursed the injuries he had sustained from their fight.
“Please you guys should stop, stop it already, okay.”Laura muttered from where she stood. She wanted to keep blabbing when Christian walked up to her and then grabbed her shoulder.
With hooded eyes, he dug his fingers into her shoulder making her wince as a dull pain raked through her.
“Are you satisfied now?”He yelled in her face.
“Let go, you’re hurting me.”She yelled, trying to wriggle away from his grip but he was just too strong for her.
“You caused everything and now you’re acting like you have no idea about it.”
“What are you talking about?”
“You were the one that let him in otherwise, this wouldn’t have happened.”He yelled in her face the second time.
The next time she made a wincing sound, he let go of her and then pushed her against the wall.
Rian wanted to go after him but Damien was quick to stop him, pleading with him with his eyes to put an end to everything.
“I think we should head out so you should cool off.”Damien suggested. He was speaking to Christian.
Already heading out, Christian turned around and then walked straight to Rian. Startled but the way he approached him, Rian was speechless, staring at him with his lips slightly apart.
Not bothering to say a word to him, he grabbed his shoulder and then pushed him out of the house, banging the door on Laura’s face.
“Don’t come around, ever again. I mean it.”He ended his words with a huff and then stormed towards his car.
Rian maintained his position, his gaze fixed on Christian’s car which was slowly creeping out of the premises and soon it was out of sight.
Returning his gaze to the house, he locked eyes immediately with Laura who was staring at him as sobbed uncontrollably. She couldn’t explain how she felt at the moment.
“Laura, I’m sorry about everything.”He started the conversation.
“You don’t need to apologize, it’s fine.”She managed to reply, wiping her eyes with the back of her palm.
“But…I’m sorry, I mean it.”He yelled this time around, “I know I messed up real bad, pardon me and give me another chance.”
Tossing her head backwards, Laura bit her bottom lips for a while before returning her gaze to him.”I already told you, it’s over between us, can’t you grab the hint.”She tried to yell but couldn’t bring herself to do it.
“Laura…”she didn’t allow him to finish speaking before she pulled down the blinds and then slid through the wall to the ground, sobbing as memories flooded her head.
Meanwhile, after leaving his home, Christian had made a stop at a pub.
At the moment, he was drinking his third bottle of alcohol despite Damien’s several attempts to stop him.
“Can you stop it already? You need to get a grip on yourself and stop overreacting.”Damien scowled, tossing a piece of mutton into his mouth.
“You have no idea of what happened so it’s best if you keep your mouth shut.”Christian snapped at him as he uncorked the fourth bottle.
“Since you wouldn’t listen to me, at least you can answer one question.”
“And that is?”
“Who is going to drive you home?”
“I’m not handicapped, I know the route back home.”He scowled.
“That’s the reason you should stop drinking. You’re thoroughly soaked now and handling the wheel is dangerous in this state.”Grabbing the key off the table, he said, “I will drive.”
Christian didn’t waste time in snatching his key back.
“I’m not a kid. Moreover, this is not the first time I’m driving drunk.”He burped as he pulled himself up.
Staggering, he managed to place some money on the table and then began to head towards the exit despite Damien’s several attempts to stop him.
“I will call a driver since you don’t want my help.”Damien implored. They were struggling with his car at the moment.
“Stop it already, I can handle myself.”Christian snapped and with one powerful push, Damien was off his back.
Before Damien could rise, he slipped into his car and then drove off.
“He will get home safely.”Damien said, reassuring himself despite the feeling of fear that was threatening to tear him apart.
Just before the intersection, Christian who was driving under the influence of alcohol lost control of the wheel and then crashed into a van, parked at the side of the road.
