Should she fucking tell a lie, she tried thinking fast at that moment but couldn’t each moment that sped through them both was like an eternity filled with a pause through time.
As Riley’s heartbeat quickened she thought through the entire situation one more time, she could as well deny the very existence of Damien but again she paid attention to the last thing he had said.
“Ain’t you going to anything?”Rhys speaking again drifted her out of thoughts.
“You know what exactly?”She fakes her innocence ready to cry her eyes out of anything turned out to be the case at that moment.
She was starting to feel that alarming feeling that came whenever she was anxious.
To shake the situation off her mind, she stand’s and makes her way away, this time with the duvet draped around her.
She thought it carefully aware that there was a need for her to pick her words carefully, she could tell that anything she was going to say at that moment would be vital.
“I don’t know what you are talking about.”She muttered.
She had to play the victim, she didn’t care at that minute what he thought he knew… For all she could tell at that minute, if there was anything that had transpired between them both it was definitely that one kiss.
“I still don’t believe after all this while that you don’t seem to trust me.”
Rhys hadn’t expected that it would turn out this way and was already getting more and more annoyed at the entire situation.
To make matters worse it was seeming more difficult for him to say what he thought he knew-
“That is not what I am trying to say , you need to understand.”He sighs “All I said is that I know who Damien is.”
She couldn’t give up and accept what he was trying to push down her neck, it was obvious he knew both it and was just trying to get her to speak.
Riley, being more smarter than that, knew that she couldn’t obviously do that, at that moment she did the only thing anyone in her shoes would have easily done.
She frowns.”No, you lie… The way you speak, the manner I am sure that you have something all planned.”
“No,”he interrupts.”Absolutely not. You can’t say that … All I did was ask and trust me if I had known that it was getting to this I wouldn’t have .”
At this point it was starting to look like they might get into their first fight, much as she hated it the entire situation made Rhys look weak.
He was trying to get himself away from this in the most hilarious way.
She scowls and bites back her irritation at his dismissal of what looked like the truth at that moment.
It occurred to her that there was a need for her to bury whatever this was at once and it was exactly what she was going to do.
“I don’t understand why-“she continued.”This is the second time that you are making me feel this way.
“This is the second time they are making me look like a fool.”She completed what she was about to say , or rather what she should’ve.
He didn’t Stop, she had thought that he would walk away to leave but he didn’t…
it seemed more like she was about to do the craziest thing by asking that he leaves, it was obviously the last thing she had in her mind but she needed her sanity.
The fact that he was bringing Damien to this talk when it didn’t look like it was necessary at this point, tells a lot about his insecurities.
She couldn’t stand to stare at him again and had looked straight at the window, out to the cloud that was drifting slowly covering the earth with its darkness.
When he held her from behind she let herself rest to him, she pushed herself against him and listened to heartbeat.
She couldn’t get herself to get angry about the situation more than she was, though furious she didn’t know what to do at the moment.
“Why do you keep acting that way, acting like you don’t trust me.”
He sighed.”Because you’re-“he shakes his head and awkwardly gestures with his hands.”You’re you.”
She was confused about his situation but couldn’t get herself to think about the entire situation.
It’s Laura’s words all over again, this time with the true inflection behind it. She could tell what she was telling her about men like Rhys.
Men like Christian, Ryhs and the rest… Men with power.
She had said that men like him would leave her broken and dejected.
At the moment, the words cut into her deeply, her heart pounding inside her chest.
“You need to give me a reason not to doubt that you trust me.”She said looking back at him.
She stands up straighter, and the same familiar feeling that was drifting through her souls rekindles, the same she had tampered down before returning.
“I trust you,”he muttered.
“So, what’s worse?”she asks him slowly.”You are giving me a headache.”
“Trust me you are just acting this way, there is nothing In my mind trust me, I just insinuated I can’t deal with it- I can’t deal with sharing you.”
She truly hates playing the game she was in. The show could see deep in his eyes that all of this was getting to him, and it made him look rather confused at the entire situation.
He wavers for a moment, his chest heaving. Finally, his shoulders droop in defeat.”Suit yourself,”he sighs.
He turns and goes to get his clothes, she stands there speechless as he picks up the phone and murmurs something into it, scowling.
Breathing a sigh of relief, she sits, trying her best to keep her face neutral.
He walked out of the room leaving her there wondering, what the hell just happened.
