He was right there at the pub trying to cool everything off when at that same minute she had walked in, it seemed to him as though he was dreaming sort of, as he wondered to himself why else she would be there-
She had seen him immediately she walked in, and had thought that it would be best she walked out, in a way she was still trying so hard to comprehend what just happened, try all she could it was hard to tell how out of the hundred and something pubs that were in town, she had managed to walk into one that had the last person she was expecting to see
She should just turn now, it would definitely make the situation perfect as she was avoiding him!
Still despite having that thought at the back of her mind, she still hadn’t moved from where she was.
It wasn’t down to the fact that she found him
irresistible, though any woman would find him that way… It was the fact that he looked rather miserable.
She screams internally as she chastens herself for not having enough will to leave, she bit her lips and walked in his direction, as she did it was easy for her to sense that bit of panic at the back of her mind.
When she was just few steps away, she swallows and hesitates-
“Why don’t you just go home, you still tormented my soul down here?”He gulped down a drink and shook his head without looking back.
To Laura or felt ridiculous that he would think in such a manner, she had known him to be proud and outspoken but to be this silly?
She shook her head, she rather not get into those irking dialogue with him, it seems like the worse thing for her to do , still she just couldn’t walk away, maybe’ it was from the fact that she needed this as well, she needed to know why he was right there looking all worried than he should.
She turned and for a minute it felt like might leave, yet Instead of turning and pulled out a chair.
He wasn’t the only one affected by this, she was as well and it was making her feel quite ridiculous if she just very well walked away.
As it was, she was only learning about this side of him, she had seen his vulnerable side just once and it had ended with the twins, six years ago.
“What are you doing Laura, are you here to monitor me?”She was questioned.
It was the last thing she had come to do, It’s the exact opposite…
“I came here on my own to drink and I am going to do just that, I am going to drink myself away and you don’t have to watch or stay.”
She was expecting that he would say something, perhaps persuade her not to…He didn’t do any of that.
“Knock yourself out.”he muttered
.
Every time she’s alone with him, their conversation steers to something different, at the moment it was doing the same thing.
All what they had spoken about all evening was just little words and catty statements here and there.
How dare he.
She fumes silently at his invasive behavior, and wanted him to engage her in a discussion more or do something that didn’t feel crazy. All he had done so far was just watch.
The worst part is he had no idea that he bothered him so much. In a way she would say It had never happened to her before, she had never felt the need to listen to anyone like she didn’t this man.
So she did the only thing that felt sensible enough for her to get his attention, she started drinking.
She started gulping down as much of the drink as she could.
Christian was shocked at how she was drinking, he was drunk himself but having to watch her drinking at such, he felt irritated.
She was about to take her sixth or was it seventh.
“What are you doing?”He grabs her.
“Drinking and this is none of your business.”She muttered.
“Well, it is now.”
As he spoke , she could feel that sense of warmth in her soul… An uncomfortable hope swells in her chest, and she hates herself
even more.
Could this be jealousy, she thought to herself, her heart pounding more from the fact that he still had her wrist in his grasp.
“Let go of me.”She ordered.
“Not till you promise to stop drinking.”
She kissed her teeth.”How is this any of your business, go back to Tonia.”
Yes it washes jealousy… And it was a powerful emotion that left her heart In putrid rage.
Hw stared at her and it felt as though it would bring calm to the entire situation, while it did make her stop, as painful as it is, he didn’t see the need to have time to explain to her why he did what he did.
There’s still too much left to do.
.
He hopes that she’ll understand, and If she doesn’t…
He’ll just have to accept it.
Still it was easy for them to prove that something’s wrong-
She can feel it in her bones as she readies to leave, she wouldn’t stay one more minute as it felt a bit ridiculous for her to.
She dragged her hands away from him and Walked to the door, she didn’t wait to look back to see if he was coming.
As she stepped outside, she could see the sky as it rages, the gray clouds a thick blanket over the earth.
Her steps were wonky as she made way to her car , the wind howled louder than usual, and the air was thick and gloomy.
She can’t ignore the feeling of anxiety in her chest, but still life had a way of pointing things to her.
She fumbles with the keys as she tries igniting the car-
