Damien realizes what this had been on this while, he could feel the tension that was louder than even the clock that was beating slowly against the wall of his cardiac.
Riley still waiting for a reply cast him with
cautious glances, while I kept my eyes downcast on the table, in a way, I sat right there on the chair, stiffer with every second that had passed.

Leaning back, he rested a forearm on the table and focused my gaze on her. In a way, that feeling of anger crept through his veins, it was strong enough that he had to choke it down. as burned in his throat, in his chest, and marred my vision with darkness.
“So that is why you came all the way here?”He asked in a way he felt disappointed, so disappointed he wouldn’t want a dialogue at this moment.
“No, I just thought to ask.”
He gave a smirk.”I am not stupid you know.”
His eyes skimmed up an inch to find her looking as though she was all surprised.
“I just want to know, that is not why I came here.”
Wiping a hand across his mouth in a poor attempt to hide his amusement. His gaze darkened, conveying he might just get himself away from where he had been seated, if they dragged this for longer than they were seated at that one spot.
He sat back in his chair, his humor fading.
“I don’t know but I don’t really fancy what you did there, I am sure that you care and are aware of what you are here to do.”
She sighed, trusting there was nothing more for him to know, she believed that all of this was most definitely the best thing to do at that moment, she thought it was best she kept mute about all of these, and let him do all the talking.
“What do you want from all of this?”He muttered.
“I just asked a simple question.”
She wasn’t keen on listening to him, she wanted to walk away from him as fast as she could before he could find out that he was indeed telling the truth.
“, You Know what I just think I should leave.”She was about to make way to the door.
He intended to stop her but she walked way past him.
The door slams.
He is regretting his actions, wondering to himself if he had acted quite in an extraordinary manner.
He was distracted by Christian walking into the office, he sat on the chair, he looked at him as if he was about to be puzzled.
“What are you doing? “He asked Damien.
“Nothing much.”He looked all grumpy.
“When did that come in?”He asked.
He pointed at the file that was on the table.
“Oh, she brought it in.”He took it and handed it to him
He ran through the file for a minute.”, Would go through this.”
He walked out again.

Back at the office…
Riley is unsettled, she is out of what to do at the moment, she was confused at why he had acted that way.
She was right there in the office thinking about the altercation she had the previous day, she was distracted by her phone ringing.
“Alright I will get back to you.”She answered the call before walking away to her office.
Laura sat at her desk the next morning while going through the files on her laptop. She was currently at work and trying to send the important files she worked on her phone last night at home because she forgot her laptop at work.
She was trying to send them to the laptop and then edit, one of her favorite songs played on her tape recorder feeling the whole room when she stumbled on a picture, she gasped and then clicked on it immediately.
‘God, how did I forget?’ She asked herself as she stared at the picture she took last night on her way back from work. She decided to get some fresh air and then walked around the surroundings when her eyes fell on the woman who looked so familiar to her.
She got closer and discovered that it was Antonia, Christian’s legal wife, but what was suspicious was the way she was dressed and how she was checking her phone and pacing around the place. If she didn’t know her, she wouldn’t have been able to recognize her with the all-black wear she was on.
After bantering with her mind, Laura finally decided to take pictures of her so she could show them to Christian later and explain them to him. Just when she hid behind a tree to take pictures, she saw a man wearing a black face cap walk up to Antonia.
He gave her a box and she gave him something in return, the two of them had a short conversation too before the man left and Antonia went in the opposite direction. Laura made sure to take pictures of when the man gave her the box and when she gave him a bag too.
This was so suspicious and Antonia never seemed like a woman with secrets so this was surprising to Laura. Seeing the way Christian loves Antonia, Laura couldn’t just see something like this and just ignore it, hence the pictures. She promised that she would discuss it with Christian later and show him the pictures.
She had forgotten about the picture, thankfully Antonia’s face was very clear in the picture but the man’s face wasn’t clear. She had thought that she had shown it to Christian but it seemed that it had already slipped her mind with all the office work she went home to do.
Still engrossed in her thoughts, she didn’t hear the knock on the door or when the door opened, “What are you doing?”That finally caught her attention
She looked up from the laptop to see Riley wearing a huge grin. Laura shot her a friendly smile about to greet her when she remembered the pictures on her laptop screen, she decided to quickly take it away when Riley noticed and pulled the laptop immediately from her touch.
She wasn’t about to exit it before Riley saw it, “Why the hell do you have a picture of Christian’s wife on your laptop?”Riley asked quickly.
“Give that back you sly fox”Laura snapped playfully and snatched the laptop from her. Riley folded her arms over her chest and frowned at Laura.
“What?”Laura asked with a laugh
“Why do you have her picture and why were you staring at it while at work?”Riley asked
“You just can’t act like you didn’t see it and move on with your day?”Laura asked back even though she knew it was impossible
“No”Riley refused before beckoning Laura to drop the laptop. Laura finally gave in and Riley locked the office to make sure no one would pop in on them like she did with Laura. They turned the music up a bit so nobody would hear their conversation from outside the office.
“Start explaining”Riley demanded
A sigh escaped Laura’s lips as she nodded, “Remember how I left the office late last night, I decided to take a walk in the park before I went home”Riley nodded trying to urge her to continue
“That’s where I saw Antonia and she was looking so suspicious so I decided to wait to see what she had in mind, she met a man, exchanged a package with him and so I took pictures of her to show Christian”Laura finished
“Did you show him yet?”Riley asked and Laura nodded in refusal, “It slipped my mind, I had forgotten about it until now”She said
“Let me see,”Riley said, and then Laura showed her the folder where she kept all the pictures, Riley checked the pictures one by one, making side comments and Laura nodded along until she stumbled upon a picture where Antonia was with the man.
“I know I shouldn’t care if Antonia was looking suspicious but I was just worried about Christian, he loves this woman. She is his wife and I don’t want him to get hurt”Laura started expressing her concerns.
“I would be concerned about him too if it were me, I mean look at this woman and the way she is dressed like a murder waiting to attack,”Riley said and I laughed
“What the hell?”Riley suddenly yelled and then zoomed in on one of the pictures, “What is it?”Laura asked immediately when Riley gasped and then turned to look at her
“I know this man in the picture with Antonia,”Laura laughed at Riley.”Don’t pull a prank on me, you can’t even see his face because of the cap he has on”Laura added
“Look at this picture,”Riley said and then zoomed in on the picture.”Oh there is a tattoo,”Laura said when she saw the tattoo of a skull on the arm of the man who met Antonia.
“I would have never noticed this without you,”Laura said and Riley smiled before going back to the picture.”Do you know him?”Laura asked
“Yes, he’s a drug dealer”Laura frowned at the revelation, she couldn’t believe what Riley just told her.”Are you sure?”She asked
“Yes, I have seen this tattoo before but to make sure, I could call a friend to meet up,”Riley said and the two of them agreed to meet outside the company after closing hours.
