CHAPTER 55

Book:I Have Your Sons, Mr. CEO Published:2024-9-2

With a look of hate and disgust he stared at the woman that was before him, he didn’t know how to get himself out of the madness that was filling him up as time ticked slowly In his mind.
He walked closer to her, he could hear her heart beat silently as he asked again.
“Why were you not home?”She muttered.
She looked back at where he was, as he could perceive the scent of alcohol heavy on him. It felt to her like the most ridiculous thing for him to do at the moment.
“Why are you acting this way?”She asked.
Rian didn’t look exactly excited about the entire situation, he had tried putting up with her for so long and the fact she was acting this way especially at this time made him suspicious.
“Do you know what I think?”He muttered.
She rolled her eyes.”Come on, you can’t possibly be serious.”She muttered.
Laura could tell what he wanted to do without being told, it was easy for her to tell that he was trying to push all the blame on her at the moment.
She remains silent, not wanting to push on the issue-but it raises a red flag. She knew beyond fact that she had to put him in his place.
“Well, I didn’t do anything…”.
“Just forget about this.”she muttered interrupting.
Not that she wants him to get anymore angry, she wouldn’t deny the fact that she loved him regardless of how he acted-Rian though an asshole at times wasn’t all that bad.
Remarkably, they had stood with her at times that mattered and thinking back at that she thought she could as well keep anything she was about to talk about secret.
She files the information away in her head to report to him later, she thought it was best she stayed quiet, But to her surprise, he spoke again.
“I know what you’re thinking,”he says.”And I don’t necessarily like it, but what more can I do.”the voice’s out his concern.
She could tell that he was drunk, his words though sinking in was incoherent. She felt curious and her heart sank for a minute wondering if he knew much as he was talking about.
Could that be why he was out drinking?
She couldn’t bring her heart to be calm that minute, she could hear it making deep sounds inside of her.
“What do you know?”She asked.
He merely smirks, he made his way toward her as though he was going to touch her, she stood away and he fell right to the sofa.
Rian snores and she stares at him for what looked like a while. In any other circumstance it would be hilarious, but in this one it was not so much, not after what he had said.
She had that hint that he was up to something, she could tell from how he had spoken that he knew something.
Laura gaze fell right to where his phone was, she could tell he would have it right there in his pockets but couldn’t tell the exact.
His arm is slung around the soft throw pillows holding one close in an iron grip.
After what seemed like a while, she stopped herself from doing anything crazy that would wake him up, she turned her heels and headed out of the room leaving him still there snoring.
Alone, she tells herself how much She needs a shower, then she can figure out what her next steps are.
She stripped out her dress and bypassed the mirror before she made way to the bathroom, the water from the faucet hissed down leaving her in a deeper state of ecstasy.
When all was set and done, She tiptoes down the hall and peeks at the front door, hoping that she’d catch a glimpse of him before she puts her call through.
He was still right there sleeping at an awkward angle, warped from the drunkenness and absurd feeling he had that evening.
Moonlight shines in through the small windows, the sky dark yet beautiful- something in the sky hinted at rain.
Soon as she was done, she walked right out with her phone, what she needed that minute were answers and she thought just one person could.
“Riley, sorry for disturbing you again, I just needed to clear things up.”
They spoke for a while and she asked questions that needed to be asked, all proved to be abortive-
She had nothing, she couldn’t tell where he had been or why he had made those comments.
“Why do you want to know?”She asked.
“I don’t know.”Laura answered.”I feel he is doing something bad.”
“Sometimes , you have to do the wrong thing for the greater good.”
Something uncomfortable stirs in her when she hears her say the word and she quickly changes the subject, guilt was the last thing she wanted.
“So what happened at the party.”roshe asos.”I know you wanted to tell me something.”Laura raises her eyebrows.
“Oh. I’m surprised you don’t know. I didn’t get to hear what he wanted though before i left.”she answered as they spoke about Rhys.
“What about Damien.”Laura asks out of the blues.
She gasps.
She knows what it’s like; she thinks. She was certain Rhys knew about the interest.
“That’s akward ,”she whispers, “why did you call his name, does he even look at me that way? ”
“It is. And to answer your question, yes I am sure you like him as well.”
“He is just friendly the only people he speaks with are me, and Christian.”,
Laura has no response to that.
She had her own problem she was dealing with and having her say all of this left a deep feeling In her chest.
Her heart wavers for a moment, her chest heaving. Finally, her shoulders droop in defeat.
“Suit yourself it is not my concern who you pick.”She sighs.
She heard a movement and peeped again. Breathing a sigh of relief, she sits, trying her best to keep her face neutral.
“Ma’am there is something you want to say, why not spill.”
“Riley.”She calls her name about to speak.
