She didn’t know which was more embarrassing, eavesdropping or having Christian stare down at her where she laid so useless or the fact that he had a quite absurd look on his face.
She looked up to him and could hear her heart ricocheting, she turned her gaze as he walked away.
She could tell that he was annoyed and she would have to pacify him again.
She walked in and caught him in a foul mood, for the first time since when she could remember he looked at her with disdain, as if the very idea of what she had done was starting to irritate him.
Tonia’s voice was calm when it came to him, she could… As usual it was easy to tell that she was sorry about what she had done, but he couldn’t get it off his chest as it thuds heavily.
“Why.”He muttered.”You are acting differently, especially after the entire situation that had happened.”
She couldn’t bring herself to say anything as she knew that she had wronged him.
Regardless, Antonia presses on.”I am sorry, I was just curious.”She insists, meeting Christian scornful eyes.
All that was just in my eyes was remorse, could it be that he had been acting too irrational towards her and could have warranted that she acts this way.
There was no way for him to get over the heaviness that he felt in his heart, yet a part of his mind felt like he was over exaggerating everything that had happened-
Amidst all of this still was her attitude of recent ones that had left him feeling rather frustrated each time.
“I am sorry.”She mutters again.
“No, you’re not,”he snaps, he had been trying to put that bit of anger under a leash but couldn’t, his dark eyes exasperated.”You’ve
been doing this over and over and keep saying the word sorry cause I love you , this is another
scenario and what did you say – Sorry!”
“I will not sign off on this.”
His actions only frustrates her. Her temper flares, but she forces her voice to stay even.
“Maybe that is because I am feeling suspicious lately and you are giving me the reason to.”she pauses.
“I won’t be going through any of this trauma, if not of you-“Her eyes narrow, and she could tell that he won’t budge.
Still, he takes a deep breath and appeals one last time.
“Just stop doing this.”He says In a quiet time.
She didn’t mutter a word, she merely walked and could have sworn she heard him sigh in relief, it was all deliberate..
She knew there was a need to act that way or he would have taken it out on her, she was jealous she wouldn’t deny that-
Jealousy is a powerful emotion, and when someone like her touches it she is certain of the type of damage it could do.
At that moment, the jealousy in her was turning to a putrid rage.
She refuses to see for certain that there was nothing to be worried about even if he had made it all clear that there was nothing between himself and whatever her name was.
As painful as it is, because he doesn’t
have time to explain to her why he did what he did- she had created a scenario at that back of her mind.
There’s still too much left to do, she put good use of her time folding clothes and arranging,
placing it all into the wardrobe, a still shot fell to the ground from one of Christian’s.
She stared at it and could see him with the twins at the park, he was all smiles. She turned it and could see a childish scribble written by a child.
Was he doing all of this cause she wouldn’t have kids?
She could have sworn that he was Cool with it, he had said it himself that it doesn’t matter still looking at that picture all she saw was a man accepting fate, a fate she has yet to succumb to.
She sniffs and whipped off her tears, before she could stop herself she stormed out of the room.
*****
He hopes that she’ll understand. And if she doesn’t… She’ll just have to accept it.
Those were Christian exact thoughts as he continued with what he had been busy doing at first when she had left he had thought of going after her but presently he couldn’t get himself to do any of that.
The paperwork he had swiped from the desk sits earlier while angry was still right there. He looked at the hour glass again as though he had to bide his time and make sure everything was in place.
He refuses to get up from right there where he was seating, it was like three hours of torture of him waiting at a spot but still it changes nothing.
The frantic knocking at her door startles him, he was surprised at first of who it could be, but his panicked pounding is not.
He opens the door to see her face staring back at him, it looked pale and stressed like she had been crying.
“What’s wrong?”he asks, fearfully pulling at his chest.
“I need a child.”She muttered.
It felt audacious.”What?”It’s barely a whisper, but she hears him.
“You can’t have kids, you heard the doctor.”he says, his expression pained.
Her mouth opens and closes, unable to process what she heard.”Like she was hearing it for the first time.”
“Yes, I can’t but we can always work something out.”
“Oh my God.”he muttered and walked back astonished
“And how do you expect one, tell you I am fine with you not having kids.”
“You are not… “she muttered.
“What do you want for an adoption?”
“I…yes, we should go,”she stammers.
He doesn’t want to go. He wanted to get away, she was going crazy and getting all paranoid and he wondered why.
“Why Antonia?”
