Chapter 17
*Lauren’s Pov*
It was finally time to go back to our apartment. The first day of the get-together was over and I couldn’t help but be pleased.
If there’s anything I hate, it’s meetings, very large meetings.
And I couldn’t wait to get out of this place.
We were heading to the car, by ‘we’, I meant, I, my dear Riley, Christian Asher and his pa, whose name I still can’t seem to memorize by now.
“Miss?” Damien called. Damien? Yeah, that was his name.
“Oh, sorry” I said when I realized I was standing still by the door while the rest had entered and at that moment, Riley got out of the car when she must have realized I hadn’t enter.
“Is everything okay?” She asked, worried. “Yeah, totally” I said with a little smile.
“Thanks” I said to Damien, as I entered the back seat where Christian was already seated.
He must have been wondering what was happening as our eyes met immediately I entered. He looked away while I had my seat.
The drive to the hotel was as before, quiet.

As their car made a grand halt in front of the hotel, each of us got out of the car and made our way inside.
Did I say before that Christian’s room was in front of mine, I guess I didn’t but it is anyways. Riley stayed with me as you know and as for Damien, I don’t think I know.
As we all walked to our rooms, we got in front of our rooms when Christian stopped me.
“Can I have a few words with you miss Laura?” Christian suddenly said. I stopped on my tracks and after gesturing to Riley to walk in, I turned to him. He seemed to have done the same as Damien walked inside his room.
“Yeah, Mr Christian?” I asked with a raised brow.
“You can call me Christian. I think we should leave the honorifics since we would be sharing a home soon?” He said more like a question.
“Sure” I responded. “So what’s it about?” I asked, he doesn’t seem like someone to get nervous around girls but right now, he looks a bit.. not him. Nervous? What? Do I make him nervous?
“Yeah, about what you said earlier, about my wife..” He started. Oh, now I get why he looked nervous.
“See, I really don’t have a problem with your wife, at all. I guess she must be insecure that you know.. or mad or anything, just..” okay, I shouldn’t have mentioned the word ‘insecure’ yeah I admit, that was a mistake on my part. Immediately I mentioned, he seemed to get offended by it but it disappeared almost immediately.
“Not that, it was a mistake on my part as I had gave her the wrong information about you proposing when it was I, who did. I apologize for the misunderstanding” He said plainly. He didn’t seem nervous anymore. Me calling his wife ‘insecure’ must have angered him. I admit I’m not that good with words, I am only when it’s work related. But who cares anyways, it was a slip of the tongue, but I should apologize, shouldn’t I? I mean why would she insecure? She was probably just mad to think another woman would get so close to her man. I would too.
“Yeah, that’s all I wanted to say..” He seemed to have said some other things but I wasn’t listening.
“Oh, wait” I said, he was about to turn but he stopped. “Yeah?” I asked, he looked less offended now.
“I’m sorry for mentioning that about your wife. Really didn’t mean that so, I don’t want you think that way..” “it’s fine, is that everything?” He cut me off, rude. But his expression looked plain so I really didn’t think he was still offended so I let it go.
“Of course not, that’s all” I said with a light smile and he nodded.
“Goodnight then” He said.
“You too” I said, turned and then walked into my room, He did the same too.
That wasn’t that bad, I guess.

It was the next morning and I was walking my way down the stairs to the other side of the hotel, the reception. I wanted to get a more wide view of the hotel, I had heard so much about the ethereal view this hotel gave and they weren’t wrong with the little I had seen since we got here yesterday.
I was taken aback, I would say a bit, but I was, pretty much when I saw Christian together with him, I didn’t know who he was but I referred to him as ‘him’.
It was the guy from yesterday, the one whom I had collided with the other day.
They knew each other. The seating position said everything. I didn’t know why it was so shocking for me but it was.
He happened to look up at the same time my eyes were fixed on him. He cocked his head to the side with a raised brow and Christian had to look and our eyes met
This was awkward but I knew how to handle situations like this. I raised my brows with a little shoulder raise and he looked away with a slight chuckle. Okay, maybe he isn’t as uptight as I thought. His smile is cute too. Christian only looked away, probably wondering how we knew each other.
I heard them say somethings to each other which u didn’t hear of have any concern about, I turned and continued my walk to see the hotel’s ethereal view.

“Is that your baby mama?” Rhys Keystone asked.
“It would be weird to call her that” Christian said, typing off on his laptop.
“I know” Rhys said with a hearty laugh, probably the only thing that gives off the cold chill vibe his face gave. His laugh was one of the pretty thing about him.
Seeing him from afar, he looked mysterious, cold but getting to know him, he’s a social butterfly.
“She’s pretty” He commented.
“Okay” Christian muttered, still typing furiously on his laptop.
“Do you think I can have her?” He suddenly asked, his eyes fixated on Christian.
Yeah, the other thing about him, he’s a playboy, explains why he’s popular among the girls.
