The officer frowned, realizing that Bianca didn’t know Marisa. There was no motive for revenge.
He sighed softly and looked at the injured woman on the ground. “That’s Marisa,” he said quietly, “the house cleaner at your mother’s place.”
Bianca’s eyes widened in shock. “That’s Marisa?”
She looked at the injured woman, who was struggling to breathe. The sight was so distressing that Bianca felt sick. She turned away, holding her mouth, and quickly threw up.
How could this be happening?
Why did she throw herself towards their car? Was she trying to end her life to escape punishment?
But the manager had said she had a very sick child. How could she leave her child behind and choose death?
Bianca’s mind was racing with confusion.
If Marisa died, the truth about the fire would remain unsolved.
Leonel got out of the car and approached Bianca, gently patting her back to comfort her.
“Bianc, are you okay?”
After throwing up, Bianca stood up with tears in her eyes. “Leonel, Marisa tried to end her life. We’ve lost our lead.”
Leonel stopped, surprised. He looked at the woman on the ground and asked, “So, this is Marisa?”
Bianca nodded and then crouched beside Marisa, whispering, “Why… Why did you do this?”
Soon after, Bianca and Leonel were taken to the police station for questioning.
When the police had gone, several men in black, who had been following Marisa, showed up. The leader made a call, saying, “Boss, Marisa… Marisa ran into Bianca’s car and died.”
“What? What about Bianca?” The voice on the other end was filled with shock.
“Bianca was taken away by the police, but don’t worry. The surveillance footage shows that Marisa deliberately crashed into Leonel’s car; it wasn’t their fault. Now, the question is whether we should continue the investigation.”
“Yes, continue investigating. Someone is behind her.”
“Understood, sir.”
In the office, Dave sat in a leather chair, pinching the bridge of his nose. He turned the chair, looking out of the French window into the bright sunlight.
Meanwhile, Bianca and Leonel sat in the interrogation room, their heads down in clear distress.
After a preliminary inquiry, the police reviewed nearby surveillance footage, confirming that Marisa had deliberately crashed into their car.
“There’s a possibility of arson leading to suicide,” the police officer concluded.
“But Marisa had a critically ill child. What happens to the child now?” Bianca asked.
The officer replied, “We’re investigating, but progress has been slow. Since you’ve proven your innocence, you’re free to go. We’ll contact you if there are any updates.”
As they left the police station, Leonel stopped and turned to Bianca. “What’s our next move?”
Bianca spoke gravely, “I can’t shake the feeling that this isn’t as simple as it seems. Marisa had no financial motives and no known grudges against Mom. What have pushed her to commit arson and then end her own life? There’s something she wanted to hide. And her child… that’s our only lead. We need to find that child.”
Leonel agreed, “The police said Marisa was holding her son when she entered the airport, but he wasn’t with her when she left. He must have been taken away at the airport.”
“A person doesn’t just disappear without a trace,” Bianca said, lifting her head calmly. “We must have missed something crucial! The authorities are rushing to close the case. We need to investigate this with our own.”
A sudden idea struck her, and she picked up her phone, dialing a number. “Hello, Reese, how have you been? How’s your recovery?”
Since Reese had been discharged from the hospital, Bianca had given her an extended break to recover before returning to work.
“Bianca, I’m doing much better now. I can come back to work,” Reese’s voice sounded lively, showing her significant recovery.
“Could you come to the office today if you have time?”
“Yes, of course. I’ve been bored at home lately. I’ll head over right away!” Reese responded eagerly.
“Great, I’ll be waiting for you.”
At Emerald Artists Agency, the office was buzzing with activity as everyone focused on their tasks. Amidst this, a slender figure entered through the door, drawing everyone’s immediate attention.
A ripple of whispers and murmurs of admiration spread among the employees. “Look at her-she’s stunning!”
“Such an incredible figure!”
“Could she be here for an artist position?”
“If she signs with our company, with Bianca managing her, she’ll definitely become popular!”
Meanwhile, Blake walked out of a training classroom and couldn’t help but notice the striking figure standing at the center of the office.
She was impossible to ignore, catching everyone’s eye as she moved through the office.
Wearing a white shirt and a denim skirt, with her hair elegantly tied in a bun, she looked youthful, enchanting, and radiantly beautiful.
Blake stole a quick glance but quickly looked away.
Despite this, the girl, enjoying the attention of the crowd, headed directly towards him. As she walked past a group of male colleagues, her slender, long legs held their gaze, leaving a lasting impression.
“Blake,” she called out.
Blake stopped and turned to face her, a slight frown on his face. “Have we met before?”
“Don’t you remember me? I’m Reese.”
It was indeed Reese!
The excitement spread through the office as everyone gathered around her in amazement. “Oh my God, Reese, how did you get so slim?”
“You look amazing after losing weight! We didn’t even recognize you!”
“Reese, are you free tonight? How about having dinner together?”
Reese smiled at the crowd. “I’ve lost a bit of weight, but it’s not that dramatic!”
What they didn’t know was that she had actually lost a significant amount of weight. Her daily workouts at home had also enhanced her grace and charm.
From the corner of her eye, Reese noticed Blake watching her, which made her feel uneasy.
Sensing his stare, she looked into his eyes directly.
“Blake, is Bianca here?”
Blake met Reese’s gaze with his usual neutrality. “She’s in her office.”
“Okay.” Reese’s charming smile caught the attention of several male colleagues, but Blake only responded with a faint smile.
Meanwhile, Bianca and Leonel were waiting for Reese in Bianca’s office. A knock sounded, and Bianca quickly went to the door.
Bianca’s eyes lit up as she saw the slim, beautiful girl.
“Reese?”
Reese chuckled and said, “Bianca, you’re the first person today to recognize me.”
Bianca’s eyes widened in surprise. She had always thought Reese was delicate and imagined how stunning she could look if she lost weight. Now, with Reese’s large eyes, oval face, rosy lips, and sweet dimples, she was even more impressive.
