Albert gave up on the question; he could see their resemblance, but they still declared they were not related. Dwelling on the conversation would be useless.
The purpose of the family get-together was finally achieved. Roy got to see the beautiful woman that made his wish for his youngest son come true. In his eyes, they were the perfect match, even if Ivy was younger than him.
Both couples left the mansion at the same time. As they made their way to their respective cars, Dave couldn’t help but steal glances at the two whose hands were still intertwined as they walked towards their car. He had a lot to say to Ivy; he never knew she had such guts to marry from his family, his uncle of all people… The perfect opportunity to ridicule her surfaced. Zack’s phone rang, and he could tell it was important as he left her to answer the call.
“I forgot something; I’ll be right back,” he told Irene, who was busy on her phone. She ignored him as her eyes were fixed on the screen.
Dave walked up to Ivy, placing his hand on Zack’s car at a slope, with a smirk on his face. Inwardly, his heart was thudding slightly in anger as he saw how relaxed she was, staring in Zack’s direction.
“You seem happy.”
Ivy heard the familiar voice and turned to face him. She didn’t smile; there was no use in sparing him the courtesy.
“What do you want, and please get straight to the point; my time is precious.”
Dave chuckled, thinking she was just pulling a facade. How would she forget the sweet moments they had in the past? She must at least feel something. The Ivy who would do anything to please him.
“I didn’t expect this from someone like you, Ivy.”
Ivy’s facial expression showed no trace of emotion as she stared blankly at him as if he were an insignificant shadow with no worth.
“What did I do wrong? Did I offend you?” She pulled a fake apologetic look, tilting her head at him.
Her expression made Dave fume in anger, gritting his teeth as he fought the urge to slap her across the face like he did before. Her impudence had certainly exposed his true emotions. He thought he could get the better of her, but Ivy made sure he knew his place. He was not worthy of respect.
“You don’t deserve him, Ivy. He is not on your level, so let go of him.” He said, thinking it was an insult, but Ivy’s next reply crushed his ego.
“A liar and a cheat with no shame has no right to define someone’s level because he has no classification in the world of value. In other words, you are too insignificant to tell me about levels. Get lost.”
His nose twitched as his eyes widened, annoyed by her words.
“If you wanted to get your revenge on me, there are better ways than stooping so low to seduce my uncle. Don’t you have any shame?” This time, there was no smirk on his face; he was losing control of his emotions.
“Says the shameless person…” She scoffed, giving him a profound look. With a hiss, she averted her eyes away from him as she played with her long, painted nails.
“You Bitch!” He raised his hand to slap her face, but his palm was held by someone’s shooting, emotionless gaze that carried sinister darkness ready to devour him.
“What did you just call my wife?” He repeated, but this time, raising his voice. “WHAT DID YOU JUST CALL MY WIFE!”
Dave was pleading with the ground to open up and swallow him. It was better than being swallowed by the man in front of him. Zack’s hard glare was sending shivers down his spine, but it was too late to retreat; he’s in trouble.
Others heard his resounded voice and rushed outside to see the commotion. Roy knew Zack’s personality. He had a frightening temper that couldn’t be placated by reasoning. Whoever offended him must face the consequences but would be left off. But who would dare offend him fully aware of his temper?
Albert and Henry arrived at the scene before old man Roy. As he was walking slowly with his walking stick, he could move faster, but what was the use when he would never be able to calm his son’s anger?
“Oh, Dave, what did you do?” Henry was worried for his nephew. Even his father couldn’t save him this time. No one could, or maybe that belle by his side could do some magic.
Irene came out of the car as she heard Zack’s voice. She was curious. ‘What did Dave do?’ He only left for a few seconds, and he already caused a scene. ‘Ivy.’ Her sister must have something to do with it.
“Repeat.” That was an order, and Dave was inclined to get his lips moving.
“I… I…”
Zack’s fierce eyes made him gulp as he remembered what he called Ivy. He knew repeating the same word would make things worse, but what choice did he have? Disobeying him was equal to the share of obeying him at the moment.
“B… b… b… b…” The sound of ‘B’ trembled from his mouth as he forced himself to steady his legs that were quivering at the sight of the figure in front of him. He knew he pushed the wrong buttons; he almost slapped her!
Ivy was having a good day watching the man who betrayed her trembling in fear at the sight of her husband. How satisfying. She was doing all it took to keep her smile hidden as the whole Anderson family was present. She didn’t want to make a bad impression of herself in front of the old man.
“Zack, please just spare him,” Henry pleaded on his behalf, while Albert kept his mouth shut to avoid blurting out what was on his mind. He never liked Zack; he was simply too wild to tame.
“Should I tell you who the real bitch is? That woman standing by your side you call a wife…”
Irene frowned. “How dar…”
Henry covered her mouth immediately. She almost made things worse, for Heaven’s sake. How dare you? To Zack Anderson? Did she want to dig her grave?
“Let go of my mouth…” She said under the muffle…
“Keep quiet and let Ivy handle this; after all, she was the offended one. I’m sure she can calm him down.”
Did Ivy look like she wanted to calm the storm? She was enjoying the show. Why would she stop the entertainment? Dave deserved more than that after what he did.
Roy sighed. He still had to at least try.
“Zack, please, I know he must have done som…”
“Stay out of this, old man.” Zack glanced at Roy before returning his gaze to his nephew. “Apologize to her now.”
Henry breathed a sigh of relief. He seemed better; he just demanded an apology. He was being merciful.
Ivy stood straight with her head held high, awaiting the jerk’s apology. She knew it would never be sincere, but it was still satisfying; he should know his place.
“Ivy, I… I’m sorry, I’m sorry. Please forgive me for what I said.” A forced apology left his lips as he clapped his hand.
“I would prefer him to kneel.”
“Hah.” Everyone exclaimed, looking at her in disbelief. The belle was actually enjoying the show.
