The shop assistant made her decision to sell the dress to Kate. She took her card to proceed with the sale but Ivy’s next reaction stunned Kate. Opening her mouth wide to spit out words of insult, but nothing came out. In fact, she was trapped in a stupor looking at the deed performed by Ivy. She flung her card to the side without hesitation and placed hers on the counter, smiling at the shop assistant who was staring at her incredulously. If she was really who Kate said she was, then her attitude was frightening for her demeanor.
“What… what’s… the meaning of this? You…” Having recovered from the initial shock, she struggled to get her words straight.
Ivy was pleased with the expression on her face. It was flushed red from anger, twitching her nose. “You are annoyed? Why are you annoyed when you started it…” Ivy smirked and turned to face the shop assistant.
“Let me make myself clear, I… will… be… paying… for this… dress. Understood.” She emphasized her words, looking deeply into her eyes. The shop assistant saw her seriousness and nodded. Offending someone like her was not on her watch.
Of course, Kate wouldn’t back down. Ivy just embarrassed her; she won’t just let it slide.
“I’ll pay double for the dress, so decide if you want to still sell it to this snitch.” Kate squinted at Ivy before averting her gaze to face the shop assistant. “Aren’t you selling!” she clamored, glaring at the shop assistant.
Other customers who were busy shopping noticed the commotion going on from their end and gathered around to pry into their quarreling.
Kate, seeing this, curled her lips. Things were getting more interesting, and she made good use of the situation.
“Don’t you have any shame, a worthless piece of trash like you dares to contend with me.”
Ivy remained unfazed, refusing to argue with her. Not everything can be solved with harsh words; she had had enough.
“I’ll pay you $8000 for this dress.” She tilted her head and smiled, waiting for the woman’s reply.
“Well…”
“Are you considering her offer have you gone nuts… I said I’ll pay you double.” Kate still insisted. “There is no money on that card, I assure you, for someone who was homeless just two days ago, how would she pay.”
Ivy bit her lips to avoid blurting out slurs that might hurt Kate. She was just a vessel used by Irene.
“The choice is yours; you know I’m being generous for nothing. I chose that dress before she appeared from nowhere spilling nonsense.”
“Ma’am, I…”
Ivy chuckled. When she first came in, she was so nice to her; she personally told her the dress would suit her, and now she was struggling to get words out of her mouth. Oh, she was more scared of the barking dog, who was raising her chest to prove she was more superior.
“You are so stupid for an assistant; your employer is sick.” Kate was furious at her hesitation.
Ivy rolled her eyes at her. It was obvious who was more stupid among the two. She was making a big deal out of nothing; she should just offer to pay more than $8000. Ivy was ready to turn the store into an auction house, and she would be the highest bidder.
“Ma’am, you offered to pay double, but the initial price was $3000…” The shop assistant squirmed immediately when she saw Kate glaring at her.
“Fine, I’ll pay you $10, 000…”
“$12, 000,” Ivy said as her lips curled up in satisfaction. The show had begun; Kate had no idea what she had gotten herself into.
“$15, 000, I’ll pay $15, 000…” Kate was too desperate to see Ivy humiliated, unaware she had fallen into her trap.
“$30, 000,” Ivy smiled inwardly. Kate was going to pay dearly for her actions.
“$45, 000,” Kate said abruptly. The other customers were amused; the store was instantly turned into an auction house just by two customers ready to splurge money for one of the cheapest dresses in the luxurious store. The nonchalant one was even more interesting.
Ivy was gradually pushing Kate to her limit, ready to give her the biggest shock of her life.
“$55, 000.” ‘Things are getting interesting,’ she thought casually, playing with her fingers, enjoying the show.
“I’ll pay $60, 000,” Kate said with a serious tone, impressed by her offer, looking at Ivy, expecting her to slack off.
“Well, um…” Ivy hesitated on purpose, pretending to be deep in thought.
“See, I told you; she can’t afford it. She wants to confess she was just wasting our time all along,” Kate claimed, picking her card and handing it over to the shop assistant.
“We are not done yet,” Ivy responded with a smile. “$80, 000.”
“You perv… I’ll pay $100, 000,” Kate said, smiling back at her.
Ivy was trying her best to suppress her laughter. “250, 000 dollars.
More customers gathered to watch them play the game of ‘who can afford this dress.’ Even other assistants didn’t miss out on the spectacular event, as they were the sole focus of the day’s shopping.
“Listen to me, Ivy, back off now, what are you even trying to prove, huh? You are nothing without Dave, nothing, you heard me.”
Ivy just smiled. She would soon prove to her that she was totally wrong. It’s only a matter of time before she will leave the store with regret.
“Do we have a winner?” One of the customers asked, thinking the show was about to end. Unknowingly to them, it had just reached its climax, ready to make Kate’s arrogance explode. There is no room for rest.
“$270, 000.” Kara refused to slack off; she wanted to prove to Ivy she was superior.
“$500, 000.” Nothing was more satisfying than proving her wrong so she could tell the tales; Ivy was not a rag to be messed with.
“$1 million.” Kate was still playing with fire, and it would burn soon.
Ivy was more than happy to play the game. “$1. 5 million.”
“2… 2… 2… mi… 2… mi…” Kate couldn’t get the amount of money to pronounce from her mouth. What have she done?
The deed had been done. Ivy smiled and said. “I forfeit; you can sell it to her, and I will buy another dress worth $1. 5 million.”
Kate’s eyes widened in horror. How was she going to pay for the dress?
“IVY!”
