The dining room fills with clicking sounds. Melody sits at the opposite seat of Damian. She munched her food while staring at Damian, who was quietly eating. She still couldn’t accept the fact he wanted to let her use his money to open up the bakery.
“Can I at least use some of my money to open up the bakery?” she starts the conversation, trying to confront him.
“No, you know the answers,” he quickly said.
“It’s my business. If I use your money, it wouldn’t feel like it was my business,” she sighs, putting some vegetables aside.
Damian sighs, “I don’t want you to use the money. I can help you instead.”
“But… this is my business. It’s supposed to be my money,” she mumbles.
“Mel-”
“It makes me unhappy about it,” Melody blurts out.
Unhappy? Damian’s movement stops. He doesn’t want to make her unhappy about it. At the same time, he doesn’t want to let her use her money. He lets out a heavy sigh and finally gives in.
“Fine. I will let you use your money-only half of it. The rest of it is my money, understand?” he arches his eyebrows.
Melody’s head perks up, and she grins, “Finally! Thank you!!”
He sighs deeply and rolls his eyes.
“You are so stubborn.”
“I take that as a compliment, thank you,” she grins.
“And eat your vegetables,” Damian says before continue eating.
Melody pouts and eats it. Suddenly, a guard walks in and bowed his head. Damian glanced at him with a sharp gaze before going back to his food. He didn’t like being bothered during his dinner.
“What is it you want? It’s better to be important,” he says firmly.
“Sir, I got an important letter. It was an invitation,” he informs.
“Invitation? From who?” Damian frowns.
The guard gives him the invitation card. Damian takes a look, leaning on the chair. Melody just stared at him while munching her food.
“Brandon? Huh. It’s been a long time since I didn’t hear from him,” he mumbles to himself. His gazes keep on the card.
“Brandon? Who is it this time?” Melody furrows her eyebrows.
“Brandon is one of my clan members, but he decided to quit when his father asked him to take over the club,” he explains.
She nods in understanding. Damian dismissed the guard before continue eating. He glances at the card, thinking whether to go or not. Besides, it has been a long time since he hasn’t met Brandon.
That man is not his close friend, but he is one of the loyal and strongest members of his clan. He did so much for the clan.
“I will be out tonight,”
Melody lifts her gaze, “Where to?”
“To his club,” he nods towards the card, “He invites me to the grand opening of his second club.”
“Really? Can I tag along!?” she beams.
“No,”
He quickly answered without hesitation. It seems like the thought of bringing her along has never crossed his mind.
“Aww, why not?” she pouts.
“It’s a club. It’s not like a normal club that you could find at the side of the street,” Damian rolls his eyes. “It fills with… bad stuff.”
She leans on her chair, “What? You think I’m 10-12 years old? I’m 20 years old already.”
“I know you are an adult. That doesn’t mean you are allowed to see the bad stuff,” he kept a firm gaze on her.
The last thing he wants to do is ruin her innocence. That club is full of something that a girl like her shouldn’t see and witness.
“Please, I promise I will stick with you all the time,” Melody pleaded.
“Mel, that club is not a place you can imagine. It’s beyond your expectation,” he sighs deeply.
“It’s not like there’s a murder in there, right?” she frowns.
“No. Of course not. It’s… just full of sex things,” Damian says with a hesitant tone.
“I’m fine with that as long as I’m not involved in it,” she grins.
Damian crosses his arms on his chest and arches his eyebrows, “You know the answer. No matter what you said, the answers are still the same.”
She let out an annoyed huff. This man is stubborn. Melody glares at him, not satisfied with his answers. At first, she was about to give up, but an idea formed in her head. A smirk appeared on her face.
Melody puts down her silverware. She takes a deep breath and looks at him with her doe eyes, “Damian…”
His finger twitched, knowing what she was trying to do. “Don’t even think about it,”
“Please… I’m bored at home. It’s so lonely and gloomy…” she pouts, using her cute voice. “I promise I will behave.”
“Mel, it s-still no,” he stammered a bit.
“Please….” she begged.
Damian takes a deep breath, “No.”
There’s no way he could lose to that face. She knows his weakness, and she takes advantage of it. Damian tries to keep his firm decision. Unfortunately, no matter what he does, he can’t bear to say no to that face.
Melody looks down with a pout and sad expression. He mentally cursing, clenching and unclenching his fist.
“Damn it…” he mumbles. Damian sighs deeply, “Fine. You can come.”
“Hah!! I knew you couldn’t resist that face!!” she grins proudly.
“Don’t be too happy. If you don’t listen to me, I will send you home straight away, and you won’t come with me for any occasion, understand?” he firmly warns her.
“Believe in me; I won’t disobey you,” Melody says with a determined voice. She playfully saluted before running out of the dining room.
“Got to find a dress to wear for tonight!!”
Damian sighs deeply and shakes his head slightly. How can he be too weak for that face? It feels like that girl has power over him, has him wrapped around her little finger. As he was about to continue eating, his eyes caught her unfinished food.
“Hey!! Finish your food first!!” he yells.
“Later!” she replies.
He rolls his eyes and pinches the bridge of his nose.
After a moment, Damian finished his food and went upstairs to check on her. He can hear rustling from their bedroom.
He pushed the door open and saw their walk-in closet was open. Damian arches his eyebrows and leans on the walk-in closet doorway. Melody rummaged through her clothes section.
“It’s just a club, Mel,” he speaks up.
“I know. But I had never been to a club before. I always watch it in the movie,” she replied as she was busy finding a suitable dress.
“You never-what?” he frowns.
“I said, I never went to a club before. I have no time to go. All I could think is survive,” she repeats what she said.
“That’s new to hear,” he mumbles to himself.
Then, Melody pulls out a dress which might reach her thighs; the back is exposed, and there are straps on the back. This dress might hug her curves and show every shape that she has.
The dark red colour just made it even worse.
“Don’t tell me you are going to wear that,” Damian grumbles.
“It’s beautiful! Don’t you think so?” she turns to him with an excited grin.
He lets out a deep sigh before stepping forward toward her, “It too… revealing, don’t you think so?”
“No, it’s not. It’s…” she looks at the dress for a moment, “Okay fine, it is revealing-but! I never wear this type of thing before.”
“Good. Keep it that way then,” Damian shrugs, not bothered by it.
“Are you serious!? I’m still young, and yet, I never experienced this type of clothing,” she pouts.
“And you never will,”
Damian firmly said. He can’t let her wear this type of clothes, knowing she will get a lot of attention. It’s not like he didn’t notice her beautiful curve. He can imagine the way the man was gawking at her.
Just thought of that makes him annoyed. He looks at her with a firm gaze, crossing his arms on his chest.
“It’s too revealing, Mel. You will gain attention,” he said, hiding the fact that it affect him.
Melody huffs, “You are no fun. You always stop me from doing something I want…”
She looks down, hugging the dress and pouting. Great. Here they are. Damian closed his eyes, knowing she used that same trick she used just now… again. Is he seriously going to give in again?
“How did you have that sexy dress anyway…” he mumbles.
“Mel, you got a lot of choices in front of you. Please… choose something else,” Damian pinches the bridge of his nose.
“No. I want to try this want. Come on, you are with me. If something happened, you can just jump in,” she try to confront him.
He stares at her for a moment. “You wouldn’t give up, aren’t you?”
“Nope.”
“Gosh….”
