Seeing Aimee so shocked, it was clear that the Purple Spotted Krait was extremely venomous.
“Aunt Aimee, is there an antidote for the poison in Cerys?” Quentin asked.
“The Purple Spotted Krait only lives in damp places with clear springs, making it very rare.”
“Therefore, no one in Miao Village has ever been poisoned by it before. To obtain an antidote, we must concoct it from its venom.”
“Fortunately, you brought it back and helped Cerys release a large amount of the toxin.”
“Otherwise, if the toxin had spread throughout her body, Cerys might have died from the poison attacking her heart.”
“But don’t worry too much. If all goes well, I should be able to prepare the antidote by the end of today,” Aimee said solemnly.
Everyone breathed a sigh of relief. Thankfully, Quentin had extracted most of the poison, so Cerys was no longer in immediate danger; otherwise, the consequences would have been unimaginable.
“Mother, please don’t blame Quentin. It was my own carelessness that led to the snake bite,” Cerys pleaded, fearing her family would resent Quentin.
“Silly girl, I should be thanking him. It’s a good thing he sucked out the poison and brought you back.”
“Next time, don’t go to such dangerous places alone,” Aimee comforted her, showing understanding.
“I understand, Mother.” Seeing that Aimee didn’t blame Quentin, Cerys was overjoyed.
Harry then took Cerys back to her room to rest while Aimee took the Purple Spotted Krait to the pharmacy to start preparing the antidote for Cerys.
Outside Cerys’s house, nearly all the villagers of White Miao Village had gathered. Henry went out to disperse them.
“Henry, what happened to Cerys?”
“Why did that outsider carry her back?”
“Is Cerys injured?”
The villagers were concerned and came forward to ask Henry.
“Thank you all for your concern. Cerys was bitten by a snake.”
“Her mother is already preparing an antidote for her. She’s not in any serious danger, so please go back home,” Henry said gratefully, bowing to the crowd to disperse them.
“Luckily, Aimee is a skilled healer. Otherwise, Cerys would be in real danger. I wonder where she went with those two outsiders today…” The villagers murmured among themselves as they gradually dispersed.
After several hours of preparation by Aimee, the antidote for the Purple Spotted Krait’s venom was finally ready.
After giving it to Cerys, Aimee also applied White Dragon Beard to her wound to help heal and detoxify it.
Cerys’s pale complexion regained some color, but her body remained weak and exhausted.
Everyone refrained from disturbing her, allowing her to rest and recover peacefully. Only Aimee stayed by her side to take care of her.
Quentin and Eileen took out all the White Dragon Beard they had gathered from Five Poison Mountain. Henry found a large basin for them, and Harry brought in a lot of soil from the fields.
Quentin poured the soil into the basin and planted all the White Dragon Beard in it, placing it in Cerys’s backyard.
“Quentin, why go through all this trouble planting these White Dragon Beards? Drying them wouldn’t affect their efficacy,” Henry asked in confusion.
“I want to bring live plants back to our homeland to cultivate them so we won’t have to go all the way to Five Poison Mountain to find them,” Quentin replied with a smile.
“Quentin, you may not know this, but White Dragon Beard has very strict requirements for its growing environment.”
“If they leave their original habitat, they will wither and die quickly.”
“The chief once said they can only grow in Miao Territory. If taken outside Miao Territory, they might all perish.”
Hearing Henry’s words, Quentin frowned.
If what Henry said was true, then his trip to Miao Territory would be meaningless and wouldn’t bring any fundamental change to Time Group.
But he couldn’t rush things; he was determined to find another way.
“Henry, come out and see me!”
Quentin’s thoughts were interrupted by a voice. It wasn’t hard to recognize it as Ahmed’s voice.
Quentin and the others went outside and saw Ahmed, a small and sinister old man, accompanied by dozens of Miao youngsters, each with a Miao knife at their waist.
Nearby villagers stood watching with concern for Henry’s family because Ahmed was known for causing trouble in the village and was widely disliked.
“Elder Ahmed, what brings you here?” Henry asked respectfully, bowing to Ahmed with a puzzled expression.
Ahmed’s face remained cold and arrogant, looking down on everyone. “Take these two outsiders away!”
