“My wife is more loyal than I thought,”
Melody felt all her blood run cold. She couldn’t move from her spot. That voice… deep and full of venom in it. Yet, there’s a lace of affection. It just Melody couldn’t sense it since she focused on her mind… being busted.
She slowly turns around to face him. There he is, standing with a towel wrapped around his waist, hanging dangerously on it. His hair was damp, and water dropped from his body.
“Look what I got here… a sneaky little minx,” Damian smirks. His eyes dangerously gaze at hers.
“S-Sir… um…. I… I just came to…” Melody lost her words. Nothing sense coming from her mouth.
“To what, huh?” he steps closer making Melody’s breath hitched. “I don’t know you were this brave to be inside my bedroom, Melody.”
She clears her throat, “I just— it’s not what you think of. I just came to… to clean your bedroom!!”
“Clean… my bedroom?” he chuckles. “You got to be kidding me.”
“It’s true! Look! Your paperwork is scattered on the desk, and everything is a mess in this room,” she make up the excuse. Not knowing how sweating she is now.
“You should clean your room more frequently, sir,” Melody fanning herself, thinking how hot she gets now.
Damian didn’t stop smirking. He steps even closer to her making her stumbles backwards.
“Is cleaning involving my sneaking into my information?” he nods towards the tab in her hands.
Melody flinches when he says that. She quickly wipes the screen with her shirt, “I-I just about to clean the screen,”
“You are bad at lying,”
“I-I’m not lying!!”
Suddenly, he pushes her onto the bed. His massive and bulky body was on top of her. A droplet of water drops on her face from his hair. His legs were between her legs. Melody could feel her heart racing like crazy.
Her green eyes met his cold black one.
“S-Sir… what are you doing?” she tried to push him, but he didn’t even move a bit.
“Tell me… what are you trying to do with my tab?” he titled his head.
“I-I told you, cleaning it!” Melody scowls.
Damian let out a low chuckle. “Melody, I told you, you are bad at lying. I know you need something from that tab of mine.”
He leans closer to her ear. Melody closes her eyes, feeling the hot breath of his on her ear. She never felt this… affected. The last time she felt this was when they first met.
“And I don’t mind it,” he whispers.
“W-Why not…”
“Because I know what are you up to. You are trying to leak the information for Frank, aren’t you?” he leans away, his demeanour changing to serious.
Melody’s eyes widen. How did he know that? She looks at him with shock. Damian smirks a bit.
“I know everything, Melody. Frank use you to get my clan information. I heard all of it when you answered the phone call.”
He knows it yet he didn’t say anything about it.
“And this?” Damian lifts her wrist, showing the bracelet on her. “Do you remember I told you that I upgraded it?”
She nods.
“I put a tracker in it and a voice recorder. It’s connected with mine,” he smirks.
So, he plans all of it. He knows she will come tonight and traps her. Melody looks at him with mixed emotions. Anger? Sad? Guilty? Humiliated?
“Cat got your tongue, love?” he whispers.
Melody turned her head to the side. She couldn’t see him in the eye. She felt ashamed. How stupid she is to betray him? Yet, she didn’t do anything towards her, even though he knew it all from the beginning.
Then, her eyes met something. Damian didn’t wear the gloves. Is this why he always wears gloves all the time? She could see the burnt marks and scars on his hands. She turns to the other side, and it is the same.
Damian noticed her attention on something else. He holds her jaw and makes her face him.
“You should feel glad that I didn’t shoot you,” he says firmly.
“Why you didn’t…” she softly asks.
Damian didn’t answer. He just stares at her for a moment. Then, he let out a deep sigh. He leans forward and puts his forehead against hers. The thought of her being so loyal towards him did something to him.
Meanwhile, Melody is stiff. Damian had never been this close to her in a gentle way. Not in a threatened way. His eyes closed.
“S-sir…” she calls.
“Call me by my name,” Damian speaks up.
“W-What?” she frowns.
“Since I see your loyalty toward me… I think it better for us to loosen up a bit,” he says coldly but laced with affection in it.
She gulps. She didn’t ask for it, but since he told her to, she had no choice but to agree to it, “S-Sure, Damian.”
The way his name rolls on her tongue sends a shiver through his spine. The first time, he let a woman say his name casually. He lets out a small sigh. The heat between their bodies changes… everything.
A long pause between them only makes Melody anxious. This man hasn’t moved even a bit.
“Um… sir-I mean, Damian? Are you… mad at me?” she mumbles.
“Mad? Why should I be mad at you?” he questioned.
“I’m about to betray you…”
“But you didn’t,”
“What?” she frowns.
Damian opens his eyes, “You didn’t. I saw it.”
He was right. She decides not to. But that didn’t give any reason for him to be this affectionate! Melody turns her head away from him, knowing their lips are so closed, and she can’t bear the naughty thoughts.
“I-I see. Still, I’m sorry. I should have… tell you about it instead of… thinking and doing it alone,” she apologized.
“To be honest, that’s very stupid of you,” he says bluntly.
Melody rolls her eyes.
“But… that’s what makes you are you,”
His words make Melody turn to him and look at him. She’s not sure if that sentence is supposed to comfort her or insult her.
The staring contest happened between them. Then, Damian slowly leans closer and closer. Is this it? Melody could feel her heart almost stop knowing what would happen, and she was not ready for it.
He getting closer…
Closer…
Closer…
Then-
“Ow! What was that for!” Melody rubbed her forehead, the place where he flicked.
He got up and went to his closet, “What are you thinking of? Your cheeks are reddened with every second.”
“That’s because you keep leaning closer!!” she sat up and exclaimed.
“Hm. I just lean. Is that something you should blush about?” he came out of his walking closet wearing sweatpants and no shirt.
“You don’t understand a woman,” she rolls her eyes.
Damian arches his eyebrows. He walks toward the bed and lies on it. He puts his arms behind his head.
“You think so? As far as I know, when someone blushes, that’s mean she thinks of something… naughty,”
She looks at him stunned.
“Who believe that innocent face would think that kind of thing?” he grins.
“I didn’t!!!”
“Oh yeah? Like I’m going to believe it,” Damian keeps going with his tease.
“I said I did not mean I didn’t!!” she grabs the pillow and hits him with it.
“Yes, you are,”
“I’m not!”
“You are,”
“I’m not!!”
“Let me repeat, yes you are,”
Melody gritted her teeth.
“SHUT UP!!!”
