Evelyn’s pov
“So you’re saying you’ll go back to another person’s pack just to stage a complaint because they hold your brother who you to hate in hostage. Make this make sense please.” I said to Freddie, he received a message three days ago about his estranged brother and ever since he had been making plans to ‘raid’ somewhere he called the Duval pack.
He moved closer to me and framed my face, my gaze lingered on his and his ice blue eyes looked like they were going to penetrate mine. He had always had that effect of seeing through me, so much so that it was scary. I released myself from the shackles of his gaze.
“Are you missing me already red?” He asked me and I laughed because that was my default emotion, laugh at things you didn’t understand.
“No actually I just find your delusions to be humorous,” I lied, I believed I was going to miss him. I’ve gotten used to him all within a month of knowing him. I could lie and say this was because I didn’t know how an actual connection with someone worked but it would be, well, a lie.
“I think you don’t understand how powerful I am Red,” he said, his voice cold and seductive. Was that how seductive looked like?
I swallowed awkwardly and allowed my eyes meet his.
“Don’t brag.” I teased and tried not to break eye contact, I didn’t want him believing he affected me in any way.
“I’m not. I don’t brag, I mean it’s not bragging if it’s true.” He said with all the hauteur of a reigning king, I didn’t particularly have a problem with his tone but I felt my gut kick.
“Did Frey get home last night?” I asked, immediately changing the subject, he noticed my reluctance to act on the notable tension between us, and he allowed me do exactly as I chose.
“She didn’t call me that night and I really think she’s mad that I am letting myself get involved with anything related to Jeremy. Don’t ask it’s as long story.” I knew for some reasons he wasn’t giving me the whole story but I wasn’t going to push it. I sensed an unbridled part, one I was sure I didn’t want to see.
He watched me with that intense look in his eyes and I sighed, and held the side of my dress. “Just make sure to return, you’re my only friend.” I saw the look of triumph pour into his eyes and I blushed.
“Sooner than you think you’ll have to admit that you think of me in ways you shouldn’t, Red.” he grounded and I stared at him speechless and almost enchanted. “I’ll see you at dinner,”
I watched him leave and swallowed awkwardly, I didn’t really know what I had gotten myself into.
The short time I had been here and I had known the water flowing behind the house had to be my best part of the pack, well that and Miss Lu’s cooking. I hardly knew if I couldn’t cook but the days I had spent watching Lu cook I knew it was something I would love to do, she didn’t want me cooking, in her words ‘she wanted to spoil me’.
I still didn’t know how to explain to her that I had lost my memories leading from the last five years of my life. In fact, how do I explain it to any one?
The water was agreeable, the sound as it went about its business. I likened the water to myself, though, I’ve never been in a situation that required me being upset but I knew I have definitely uncovered a raw and moderately wild version of myself.
“You are a new face. I’ve never seen you around,” a soft feminine voice called from behind me and I turned to see a lone girl standing by the water on the far end from where I stood.
She looked like what I imagined the Virgin Mary would look like. She was wearing a dressing gown, it was long and had a virginal vibe about it. Her blonde hair fell in beautiful locks around her face and she looked really pretty.
“Hello,” I called out to her and she looked like she didn’t need my permission to approach me. The awareness that she was another wolf filled me, with another wolf I didn’t know and trust. Why didn’t I think of that angle?
“Who are you?” She asked instead, I moved closer to her till we were toe to toe, I stood a great feet below her but I wasn’t going to let myself be intimidated.
“Hi, I am Red, I’m visiting,” I answered, looking directly at her. “Who are you?”
“Lorelai. You are a wolf.” She declared rather than ask and I was happy to break it to her that I was human.
“No, I’m not. I am just passing by,” I insisted and she raised an amused brow at me, almost like she believed I was telling a lie, I wasn’t.
“You carry a werewolf. How do I believe what you say,” she asked me and I was on guard how did they immediately know that I was pregnant? Lu had figured it out even before Freddie told her and even Free had been the one to tell her she was pregnant for twins.
“How do you know that?” I asked her instead and she laughed and then sat in a broken branch, it looked sturdy enough and I was tempted to join her there.
“We can always tell who is our own but not all wolves have the discerning skill. I like to come here and for the past few days I’ve noticed you and I thought you werintruderu der, you aren’t. You’re even harmless,” her tone was suspicious, why would a human be in a pack house and why would she be pregnant with a wolf baby, it was enough to be suspicious.
“I’m here under the alpha, he’s taken me in,” I explained to her, mostly because I needed a friend, I couldn’t live like this.
“Oh, okay Red. Welcome to Blue Moon Pack,”
