Freddy’s POV
“I can hear you, scoop!” Freyja called out and I smiled to myself as I led Red out to the living room downstairs.
“I’m not hiding Frey!” I responded and she turned around and saw me coming down the stairs, nothing prepared me for the full speed with which she ran into my hands.
I was taken aback but returned the hug, holding her tight.
“You jackass! It’s been what? Two years? I’m reaffirming the fact that you probably don’t like me, hatred at its peak!” She teased and I laughed, more than happy to see her.
It’s funny that Jeremy was my immediate younger brother and fair enough he’s also male, but I can’t say we’ve ever had the sort of relationship I share with Freyja.
My fiery head sister with her strong opinions and sympathetic heart.
It was not a bad thing for her to work, but I imagined she would have preferred to be a warrior and defender of the blue moon pack, she had surpassed all our expectations when she chose to study medicine. She has been practicing for three years now and saying I was proud of her was a huge understatement.
“Told you to quit your job and come riding the world with me, you said no that you preferred blood to a good time,” I teased her and she laughed hugging me again.
“Oh please, you would have gone to spain and ditched the pack for
Jeremy if I had come with you, maybe even convinced me to be homosexual” she retorted, just then Miss Lu ran into the room beating good tidings and warm hugs.
“Oh there’s my Frey! Come and give Lu a hug,” she shrieked, her love for Freyja was stronger and I thought it had to do with the fact that she had been the one to raise her.
Our mother died immediately after giving birth to Frey, and it had been just Lu around, I was a little older back then so I would have been okay but Frey needed someone to nurture her, Lu had been her mother.
“Lu!!! I was wondering where you were and if this jackass sent you to a retirement home! I missed you,” My sister said as she was wrapped in the cozy bosom that was our housekeeper.
“I didn’t know you were coming but I can whip up something real quick. Has he shown you his friend? Her name is Red,” Miss Lu said and hurried off to the kitchen leaving hun to complete the introduction she started.
“Well??” Freyja asked me, smiling and winking in a comical way, I laughed before pulling Red – who had been quiet all through the dramatics- closer. “This is red, she is staying here for sometime, we met in Miami and she’s nice,” I said and she swatted me on my back.
“Forgive my brother and his caveman behaviors, he gets it from his wolf.” She joked then looked at me like she wanted to confirm if I had already told her.
“It’s late timing, you trying to confirm now. You would have leaked the secret to the whole world,” I teased and she rolled her eyes.
“Nice to meet you Red, and yeah. I need sleep, will be down after I’ve refreshed and have a run. Tell Lu we will meet at 7!” She called and ran up the stairs.
I turned to face Red who was looking at me with interest, I liked the way her eyes could tell her emotions, like right now I could see she yearned for what I shared with Freyja but I wasn’t going to make her see that I felt a little sorry for her.
“Do I have poo on my face or you’re in love with me?” I asked her and she laughed, it was like the first time I’ve heard her laugh.
“You wish!” She said and fair enough she confirmed my thought. “I wish I had what you and your sister share, she’s so full of life.”
“I don’t know. She can be stubborn and annoying sometimes, do not get me started on all the things I’ve had to pull her out of.” I said hoping that would remind her that very positive had some negative in them.
“Yeah yeah, are we done with the tour already?” She asked me that familiar curiosity tinting her eyes and I felt she could have been an artist in her former life, her yearning for pictorial works was commendable.
“I think we have one last floor to explore,” I told her, thinking of the ancestor hall just above the one we were in, the same hall Jeremy’s room used to be in. “After you,” I teased as she climbed the stairs leading up.
“I’m hoping to see a hidden magic chest, with gold and diamonds,” she said and I laughed. It was funny she said it as a joke because that did exist but not in the upstairs bedroom like she was speculating.
“If you search well you may find it,” I responded and once again had the pleasure of seeing her eyes widen in what I could call awe.
“Oh my goodness,”
Evelyn’s Pov
From the beginning of the hall a large photo hung on the wall like it did in art galleries. A large wolf stared back at me and I was struck with awe at the brilliance of the painting in front of me, below it I saw a writing. Malcom Langdon II, 1894.
“Wow,” I muttered, and turned to look at him.
“That’s my great great grandfather, I think there’s one more ‘great’ in there somewhere but yeah, the first painted Langdon. His picture stands next to my great grandfather and my father, you know the circle confirms” he said as we continued to work down the hall.
I saw one last one that looked familiar and my eyes widened in admiration, fine lines and clearer eyes. I liked the brashness of the wolf and I was impressed.
“This is you.”
“Yup it is.”
