JASON POV
I watched Evelyn walk out of the Pack gate as she didn’t bother looking back, as if she was being chased by her worst enemy and all she could do was to run away from the danger.
This woman was supposed to be my wife, the Luna of this Park, how come the sudden twist?
I love you, too.
I love you
Love you
I remember her confessions for me, she was everything I wanted and now I have lost her. I scanned the faces of the werewolves and some felt sympathy whilst some were relieved that there wasn’t going to be any curse in the Park.
I angrily walked into my chambers as I felt Chloe and Jordan walked slowly beside me.
” You don’t have to think much about it, I’m sure the moon goddess has a reason for the twist of fate,” Chloe, my gemma tried to lighten my mood
I paused my step, and turned to face her with a visible scowl on my face.
“I’m…I didn’t-”
“The next time you utter something so unreasonable like this, I will not waste a second teaching a good lesson,” I warned her before glaring hard at her.
She shuddered at my hard tone and apologized with her heads down
“Leave!” I commanded both of them.
I took long strides to my chamber as I collapsed on the bed.
How do I continue this journey of life? I was about to close my eyes when I saw a not so fresh rose on the study lamp.
I plucked this for you.
What for? I had asked her, since I found it strange to be given a flower, wasn’t I the one who was supposed to be doing that?
I want it to always reassure you on how much I love you.
Sometimes words will fail me but, so long as this flower still blooms my love for you will never die.
I felt softness in my heart when I received the rose and dropped it on the study lamp. She said she had wanted it to reassure me, so it had to be the first thing I see in the morning and last thing I see before I drift to neverland.
Now that I’m staring at it, it brought nothing but pain in my heart. I turned my back on it not wanting to see it anymore.
Maybe I’d love to see it the next day. But, definitely not now.
I woke up to the faint scent of LAVENDER as I stretched my hands for my wife. I turned to the other side of the bed with my eyes closed wanting to bring Evelyn closer to me but the bed was empty.
My brain wasn’t firing on all cylinders yet, and shifting through my memories of the past twenty-four hours seemed too daunting of a task this early in the morning.
Why was Evelyn out of reach?
This is unusual, I was about to open my eyes when I remembered;
My brain finally woke up and the highlights from yesterday bombarded me at breakneck speed.
Evelyn. Mating ceremony. Cursed
I stopped in my actions as I groaned inaudibly, and opened my eyes.
Today is going to be a long day. I had gotten so used to Evelyn’s presence that I subconsciously perceived her in the room.
I turned to look at the Rose and it was still there. It definitely needs to be trashed.
I was about to get busy when someone knocked softly. “Come in,” I ordered knowing fully well it was Jordan, my Beta.
I waited for seconds and it was as if the person was hesitating to come in or, not. This person isn’t Jordan
Jordan wouldn’t waste a second after hearing me say the word.
“Who’s there?” I asked with a low growl.
“Chloe,” the voice replied, softly.
“Yes, Chloe?”
Was there a message for me? Has the seer heard anything from the moon goddess? Is there a new mate?
My shoulder tensed as all these questions flooded my head.
She opened the door slowly as she bowed to greet;
“Good morning, Alpha Jason,”
I studied the woman who just entered my room, there is something different about her that I couldn’t pinpoint.
I raised an eyebrow as I noticed the change in her dress sense.
My gaze on her darkened when I noticed what she was trying to do.
Replace my Eve? She must be joking.
This was the exact way Evelyn likes to dress.
“What is this, Chloe?” I asked her, looking half amused.
She tangled the hem of the dress as she looked at me seductively. I need not to be told what she had in mind.
The glare turned heavy on her as I heard her breath shudder slightly.
“I don’t want you to go through pains, Alpha. I want to help,” her tiny voice sounded in the room.
I walked past her as I went into the bathroom to freshen up. I believe my message was clear to her.
I made sure to spend hours in the bathroom till I heard the sound of the door opening.
I waited a little while before I stepped out of the shower.
I have always known that Chloe has a thing for me but, I do not feel anything for her aside from who she is to me there is no any other connection between us.
“Don’t I look pretty enough to be loved?” I had heard her cry over the phone to someone, a long time ago.
Whenever I want to lash out at her, I remember her statement and feel pity for her.
But, what I won’t do is to love her out of pity. I’m very sure of my feelings for her and I’m not interested in her.
The only woman my heart will ever beat for is EVELYN
I dressed as I made my way out of the room.
I believe there is something going on, the maidens and guards were all looking amused, I checked myself to see if there any stains on my body, but I couldn’t find one
I walked past another maid and she greeted me with fear and amusement.
It was beginning to get awkward for me.
What is going on?! I screamed in my head.
I sighted my Beta as I quickened my pace to meet him. I noticed his funny face too, and I gripped the hem of his shirt to tell me what it was he saw on my face.
He didn’t waste a minute to pull out his phone as he took a picture of me, and when he showed me what it was I burst out in anger.
How dare Chloe?!
I ordered one of the guards to bring her to the chambers as I walked out angrily.
Few minutes, Chloe walked in the chambers as she looked like a frightened cat, it was all a facade, of course.
“I didn’t mean to-”
“But, you did!” I yelled at her.
“Forgive me, Alpha. I didn’t know what got over me, I want you, Jason.”
“In your dreams,”
I wonder who gave her the heads up to kiss my shirt, making it a kiss print on my shirt.
Delinquent!
I dismissed her as I didn’t want to lose my mind and do something I wouldn’t be proud of.
Now, that the moon goddess has taken his mate away he felt it was time to pursue his career.
The fact that I am an Alpha in this wonderful park doesn’t mean I do not have a dream.
I have always dreamt of being a Doctor, before my father died.
I had written my international exams and I passed as one of the best aspiring medicine students.
I opened the wardrobe to get my file, what if I continue this career of being a doctor?
What if I apply for a job, and start working. Not that I need the money but, I needed to get distracted.
I called Johnson, my Beta, to help me prepare my things. I will definitely need to travel to the states to get the hospital’s recommendation.
“You have to inform the rest of the before leaving, Alpha Jason. Else, they will be worried,” he spoke out of concern and…fear?
“And who said I wasn’t going to inform the rest of us? Huh?” I retorted feeling slightly annoyed.
“I didn’t mean it the way you think. I’m sorry.” He apologized quickly.
I arranged my things as I picked a silver lighter. “Summon the people in five minutes.” I ordered Johnson, my Beta.
“Yes,” he answered with a curt nod.
I sat down on the bed, unsure of my decision but I knew that I needed to get distracted and the only way to do so was to pursue my career.
I was about to leave when I sighted a pendant. This pendant… Evelyn handed it over to me the first time I had sex with her.
“Here, remember me.”
I collected it with so many questions in my mind but didn’t ask her as I pocketed it.
Now, I’m grateful she gave me something that I could use to remember her. Did she know she was going to be deprecated from me? From us? From the clan? Or, from the beautiful future that the gods have planned for us already.
Evelyn is mine, and I’m not chiking another woman except Evelyn.
Be it in hell or heaven. She will always be my queen.
I packed the rest of my things as I made my way to the hall, it’s time to say a partial goodbye to the park.
I got to the hall and saw the rest of the werewolves were already there waiting for me, their Alpha.
“Alpha Jason, are you leaving us?” The seer asked me with a concerned look.
“He can’t be leaving,”
“Why would he leave his responsibilities?”
“He is in pain,” the crowd were murmuring as no one was able to reason why I wanted to travel.
“I will be going to pursue my career, I’m also not leaving my responsibilities for anyone.
I will always return home when it’s the weekend. It’s a promise.” I stated looking as cold as ever.
No one dares question my decision not with this aura.
I was very sure I looked…ruthless.
