Book:Taming Queen Mafia Published:2024-8-27

ZOEY was at table watering her gullets that beautiful morning, a maid was close by refilling the glass next to her with water, from a jug, as she sat eating.
Then another maid walked into the dining from the kitchen, carrying with her a bowl, a bowl of chicken soup and dropped it on the table.
“Is that the soup?”, Zoey asked.
“Yes ma’am”, the maid nodded.
“Where are my parents?”, she asked.
“Um, they had left ma’am. Left for work”, she replied, genuflecting.
Zoey didn’t say anything to her again, but just rolled her eyes and continued eating, then the maid genuflected and walked back into the kitchen.
Halfway into the food, her phone which laid next to her on the table, beeped and she subconsciously, looked at it, then looked away.
Seconds later, she picked it up and began browsing the net, still eating.
At this juncture, she heard a voice from the living room and she glanced towards the door.
“Where is that girl?”, She heard a familiar voice asked and a small smile played on her lips, it was none other but her best friend, Amelia.
“Over here, in the dining”, she replied in a singsong manner.
“Oh! I see, met someone well”, Amelia replied and finally came in view, as she entered through the open door.
“Mm, always eating”, she said and dropped her phone on the dining table.
Zoey shrugged laughing.
“That is so me, I love eating, but hey, I’m actually having breakfast, not one of my in between meals”, she said and winked.
Amelia scoffed.
“Whatever”, and she sank into one of the dining seats, adjacent to Zoey.
“Hmph, always looking sweet”, Zoey complimented and blew her a kiss.
Amelia forced a smile.
“Thanks”, she shortly replied.
“I guess you got this Louis Vuitton jacket recently, I have never seen it on you”, Zoey said and gulped down a reasonable amount of water.
Amelia nodded.
“Yeah, got it last week”.
Her face brightened up.
“Oh really? At where?”, She asked.
“Online purchase, from Amazon store”, she replied.
“Oh! It’s so beautiful, must have cost a lot”, she winked, smiling sheepishly.
“Yeah, just six thousand dollars”.
“Yuppie! What a whooping amount! Jeez!”, Zoey exclaimed.
Amelia hissed and shook her head, making Zoey notice she wasn’t fine.
“What is wrong? You are worried”, she asked.
Amelia only hissed the more, saying nothing. Zoey had to shove her meal aside, she was by now, actually done.
“Is Jeremy at it again?”, she asked and got up, then walked to her.
“Like I’m frustrated, he is seriously getting me frustrated, getting on my nerves, driving me nuts, infact, he is doing everything bad to me, he is hurting me”, she cried and Zoey shook her head.
“Oh! I thought we have gone past this baby”, she said and wrapped her arms around her, giving her comforts.
“That was what I thought, but that isn’t what it seems right now”, she said, and bursted into tears.
“Oh no! Don’t cry, don’t please, stop doing this to yourself”, Zoey said as she rubbed her palms on her back.
“What haven’t I done Zoey? What haven’t I done to prove to him that I love him? That I want him? What?”, she rhetorically asked still crying.
“It is okay, it is okay baby, don’t get worked up over this”, Zoey kept comforting her.
“Zoey I have no clue on what to do again”, she said and continued crying.
“Oh goodness! Can you stop this? You are ruining your make up, stop please!”, She pleaded but Amelia wouldn’t hear of it, she continued sobbing.
“I have got a plan, but if you don’t stop this whimpering, I won’t tell you a thing of it”, she said and Amelia slowly stopped crying, then began dabbing her face with a white handkerchief.
Then she looked up at Zoey who had all the while, been watching her clean off the streaks of tears off her face.
“What is it? Spill”, she said, her voice wavering.
Zoey smiled calmly.
“You might not want to do it -“.
“Why won’t I?”, she interrupted, “no why? I am ready to do anything to prove to Jeremy that I want us together, anything”, she said sniffing.
Zoey smiled again.
“You sure?”, She asked.
“Yeah, anything”, she replied, nodding her head.
Zoey then left her side and sat on the seat beside her.
“When last did you visit him?”, She asked.
It was as if a hush fell on them, as silence followed. Zoey waited patiently for Amelia to respond.
Amelia sighed and looked at her, not knowing what to say in response.
“Visit?”, She finally found herself asking back in response.
Zoey nodded.
“Yeah, visit. When?”.
“Well, I can’t tell, it’s been long, but hey, you know his warnings the last time”, she said.
Zoey scoffed.
“That is what I am talking about. Why would you take the wordings of an angry man serious? He was damn angry and really didn’t mean half of what he said”, she said.
Amelia was looking intently at her as she spoke.
“So, you mean I should visit him, despite what he had said?”.
She nodded.
“Yeah, pay him a visit, a surprise visit. Show up at his door, show up at his bedroom door, show up at his office, anywhere, just let him see you”, she said, demonstrating with her hands.
Amelia sighed and cleaned her eyes with the handkerchief, pondering over what Zoey had just said.
Minutes later she looked at her.
“I will be at his mansion this evening”, she stated.
“Perfect! That is good, please do”, she said and got up, then moved to her.
“I know he is gonna come around, just keep on persevering, okay?”, She said and Amelia nodded, then she wrapped her arms around her in an embrace.
…Evening…
The warm waters from the shower tap rushed out hitting on Jeremy’s body and soothing it, causing a cooling sensation on him.
It had been a long day at work for him, first, he had arrived late as a result of his father’s visit that morning, secondly he had about three meetings with business partners, Carrie still acting cold towards him, and still very much annoyed with Jasira.
He let the waters rushing out cool him to the marrows, when he was satisfied, he turned off the shower, grabbed his towel from the rail and sauntered out of the bathroom into the room, drying his body with the towel.
He was still dabbing at his body when a knock came on his door.
“That must be Nathan”, he said and began wrapping the towel round his waist, walking up to the door.
Without ado, he placed his thumb on the finger print slot after wiping it clean and opened the door.
“Have you brought the -“, he trailed off the moment he saw it wasn’t Nathan at the door.
“Amelia?”, he called.
