LOVED FORTY TWO

Book:Learning to Love Mr Billionaire Published:2024-8-27

Ophelia sat on the bed with the warm honey water in her hand, she could not believe how bad she had treated him just now. “He is really mature” she murmured to herself because she knew that she would not have sat still with the accusations and would definitely not have brought them something to help them feel better.
She took her phone and scrolled through it, she wished she had someone she could tell how she felt about what was going on. Her mind randomly ran to Green and she wondered why she thought of him. He was well aware of the terms of her marriage, maybe she could talk to him because she just felt the need to explain everything to someone.
She scrolled to his name and her hand hovered over it as she contemplated calling him, she knew his well and she knew that he was going to be up and ready to take her call. Even though the marriage was basically an agreement she still did not feel good calling another man at that time, she took a deep breath and controlled herself, with her hand still hovering over the phone she closed her eyes.
“Hello,” Green’s voice sounded faint in the distance.
“Am I imagining his voice now as well?” she asked herself not opening her eyes.
“Ophelia?” now she was convinced that she was not imagining it one bit. That was his voice and it sounded as real as possible. Her eyes flew open as she looked down at her phone which was already reading seconds of being on a call. She put it to her ear and let out a nervous chuckle.
“You are awake?” she asked.
“And so are you,” he said, She smiled to herself.
“So sorry I called you, it was a mistake” she rushed to say. She was not going to give him ideas considering the time she placed the call.
“Oh and here I was thinking you might need cheesecake” he said and she felt a bit heard.
“Are you saying if I ask for cheesecake you would bring it here for me?” she asked.
“On my way” he said and she heard keys rattle and doors slam.
“Hold on, I think you forgot that I am married now,” she said stopping him before he could jump out of the house onto the road looking for a slice of cheesecake.
“Oh” he said the realization dawning on him. She laughed realizing he had forgotten about it. “I forgot” he added and she nodded to herself.
“I thought as much, it is equally shocking to me” she replied.
“Since I can not bring cheesecake to you personally why don’t you just tell me what’s wrong,” he said. She heard him heave a sigh as he sat.
“Wrong? What do you mean wrong?” she asked wondering how he knew that something was bothering her.
“Seeing you are awake by this time and also calling me too I am convinced that something is up and it is keeping you up” he said.
“What?”
“I know you well, even as a student you never stayed up all night to study because you always needed your beauty sleep,” he said. He had called her a few times in the middle of the night because of the time difference and she had always returned his calls after a few hours because she was asleep.
“I just for back from drinking” she said pressing her lips together knowing that he was going to nag.
“But I told you not to drink, if you had a lot to think about what did you not call me?” he asked and she shook her head at him. He was the same person she had always known. “Who did you drink with and what did you drink a day after your wedding? Are you not happy? Do you want me to come get you?” he asked.
“You are getting ahead of yourself”
“Did you drink with your husband then?” he asked her.
“No, I did not”
“Did you drink alone?” his tone kept going up and up as he wondered what had happened for her to drink and still be awake and sound sober at that time.
“Of course not, I drank with some friends”
“You have friends?” he asked teasing her a bit.
“Oh please I do have friends” she replied rolling her eyes even though he could not see her.
“So your friends made you drink?” he asked for clarity’s sake.
“It’s been a while since we saw and they could not make it in time for my wedding so we met up” she explained.
“So why did drinking with them keep you up?” he asked confused. If they had drank to catch up then why was she up at this talking to him over the phone? He was not complaining about it at all. he wanted to talk to her as much as he could.
“It is not because I drank with them,” she said. Green paused from asking questions until she followed up. He did not want it to seem like he was forcing her to talk when she was the one who called him in the first place. “It is because after I drank with them Cade picked me up and brought me home after I had passed out from excessive drinking” She began closing her eyes knowing he was going to nitpick at that too.
“You drank till you passed out? We have to address your drinking habits” he said and she shook your head.
“It is just one night in a long time” she said trying to stop him before he escalated the matter. “And when Cade came to pick me he brought me home, however, I thought he was trying to take advantage of me because of the state I was in and I embarrassed him but he still took care of me by bringing honey water so I could get over the hangover” she explained.
“I guess he takes care of you” Green said slowly not liking what he heard. Somehow he had desperately prayed she would constantly contact him because of how badly Cade would treat her and that way she would come to him when she realised that he was not the one for her.
“I guess he does, so why was I so stupid?”
