CAMILLA’S POV.

I clutched the strap of my school bag tightly over my shoulder as I walked through the hallways with Beatrice holding my left hand and Leticia by my other side.
Beatrice had nearly choked me this morning due to her tight hug and thanking God she didn’t lose me and ever since she has been holding my hands all through the ride to school and even at this moment crouching at thought of losing me.
After the life-threatening incident yesterday, we returned to the shore immediately and Mr. Kent told us to pack up and we would leave that evening.
I felt like nauseating due to the curious stared I got from the students that lurked around in the hallway.
“I heard she got pushed into the water and nearly died,” A girl whispered to her friend who just bored holes on me.
I cringed at the memory of me sinking deep into the waters, wishing they could just shut their mouths and not revive the nightmares I’ve been having been battling with since yesternight.
News of what happened to me spread like fire among everyone as they cast me anxious and curious looks.
I couldn’t even tell mum what even happened, she looked pale and I was too tired to ask what was wrong with her.
I wanted to see her this morning and asked how she was doing but she left already.
“I heard her bully was the one who saved her,” Another girl from a different angle said staring at me.
I breathed deeply as Beatrice squeezed my hand lightly.
“It’s okay,” Leticia said rubbing my arm while I smiled thinly at her.
“They are just a bunch of insolent morons, I pray that bitch is in school, once I set my eyes on her she should consider herself dead,” Beatrice fumed making me sigh as I unlocked my locker while Leticia folded her arms and leaned on the cold metal.
“Beatrice, let it be, I don’t want any fights and I’m fine,” I said in a bored tone taking my pencil at the corner of the locker.
“She earned a good slap and fist from me,” Leticia smirked while I rolled my eyes shutting the locker with a slight thud as I pressed my books on my breast and wrapped my hands around them.
My gaze fell on a pair of green eyes which was staring at me from afar as I gulped down.
“Let’s go,” I interrupted Beatrice and Leticia who were planning on the best plot to kill Jenny.
“Is something wrong?” Leticia asked as she and Beatrice followed my fastened pace.
“No!” I replied faster than I should as we made a turn.
“She’s running from him,” Beatrice mouthed while I stopped in my tracks.
“Camilla, c’mon we’re your friends, you need to stop keeping things to yourself,” Leticia said making me shoot a glare at her.
“I’m not!” I said before sighing.
“Then why are you running away from him, he saved your life, Camilla, you needed to see how crazy he was when he heard you were pushed into the water, he jumped without a second thought,” Leticia said while I felt a wave of guilt hit through me as I remembered telling him to stay away from me.
“I told him I couldn’t swim,” I said trying to sound neutral as I shrugged off my shoulders staring at them.
“Wait! You told him you can’t swim?” Beatrice asked amused gazing at me and I knew that impish looks of her too well.
“They were partners,” Leticia said.
“Yeah! That was the only way I could convince him so as not to participate in any water activities,” I replied.
“Spill it out!” Beatrice said boring holes on my head.
“What?” I asked trying to sound like I didn’t understand what she meant meanwhile I do.
“C’mon, you know what I’m saying, Camilla, what happened between you two? I think you two had something before that incident,” Beatrice smirked.
‘Damn! She should be a seer or something, her way of reading through someone’s thoughts makes me terrified at times.
“Okay fine!” I said defeated as they gazed at me with looks saying they’re waiting.
I pushed them to an empty class and I licked my bottom lip as I walked over to a table and placed my books on it before facing them.
“He asked for my forgiveness,” I said as their expression caught me off guard.
They blinked their eyes with open mouths trying to process what I’ve just said while I arched a brow at them.
It was a big shock on me too at first but what got me hurt was the reason behind it.
“Woah! Unbelievable…” Leticia awed frankly.
“Impossible, Watermark’s worst guy finally comes to his senses,” Beatrice chuckled.
“Did you forgive him?” Leticia asked as Beatrice stared at my lips, I played with my fingers nervously as I broke contact with them.
“Don’t tell me you did?” Beatrice growled at me.
“Why? You don’t expect her t–”
“I didn’t,” I cut her off guard while Beatrice gave me a satisfying look.
“I taught my baby so well, he doesn’t deserve your forgiveness so easily,” Beatrice said proudly.
“But why?” Leticia pouted.
“He hurts me more than I can imagine, and I’m thinking I’m starting to fall for him…” I confessed, thinking of how my mind has been on him lately, and each time I’m with him, my body craved more than a kiss from him.
And I don’t want anything thing so complicated with him, that’s why he needs to stay away from me.
“Awwwn baby! That guy finally cast a spell on you,” Beatrice pouted coming over to hug me.
“He likes her though with those weird pranks and bullies of his, I’ve never seen a guy so obsessed and possessive of a girl before,” Leticia said walking closer to us.
“Pttf! All guys do that to the girls they like, it’s because you haven’t found yours, red hair,” Beatrice snickered earning an elbow nudge from Leticia as she groaned lightly.
“What the hell is that?” She winced.
“That’s for running your mouth,” Leticia taunted while I stared at the both of them amusingly.
Finally, the school bell rang and it was time for today’s lesson.
We all hurried out of the empty classes as Beatrice made her way to her first class, while I and Leticia walked hand in hand to our class.
2 hours later,
We were busy with math class, when Mr. Gates the school’s vice principal walked into our class, everyone straightened up as we greeted him.
Jenny didn’t show up her face in school and I guess she should be so ashamed of herself for what she did.
Everyone knew the reason why Mr. Gates was in our class as they diverted their attention to me after greeting him.
I felt my legs go Jelly and weak as thoughts of me entering the principal’s office sickened me.
“Everyone, have your seat, I would like Miss. Evans, Miss. Casey, and Ms. Liam to the principal’s office right now,” He said and marched out of the class.
My heart hammered against my chest having to be close to Lucas.
My instinct told me something might go on…
“Camilla, come on let’s go,” Leticia prod me from behind.
Lucas strode out of the class without casting me to glance more like I was expecting when I had told him to stay away from me.
I swallowed a lump as we entered the principal’s office and there lied behind the desk was Mr. Golfray a middle-aged man around his 50s with a bald head and protruding belly sitting on the seat with a small circle rimmed eyeglasses placed on the bridge of his nose.
I was shocked to see Jenny and an older version of herself which was I guess was her mum sitting opposite her, with tears I assumed to be fake shedding out from her eyes.
“Murderer,” Leticia snickered a bit loud as everyone shot a gaze at her but she just rolled her eyes while Jenny just sobbed the more.
Mr. Kent stood next to the wall as he gazed at Jenny and a female cop was there too with a notepad.
“I didn’t do anything!” Jenny sobbed loudly as I gazed shockingly at her on how she lied blatantly.
Lucas stood close to the window side as he leaned on the wall with folded arms around his chest as his jaw clenched and his eyes spark fury.
“That’s a lie! You pushed her into the ocean,” Leticia shouted as Mr. Golfray hit the table with his palms making a slight thud as he silenced Leticia.
