Book:His Burning Obsession Published:2024-8-26

“I hate Mondays,” Beatrice groaned as we made our way through the large crowds in school.
“Me too!” I chuckled as I held my books closer to my chest.
Beatrice came to my house yesterday and I ended up telling her everything that happened on Friday night.
She cried her eyes out, blaming herself that she shouldn’t have left me all by myself.
I tried to comfort her by telling her it wasn’t her fault but she stubbornly disagrees.
She was happy that Lucas had come earlier on time to save me.
I later got to realize how he knew I had a movie night that day, he was the one who tore the letter Charles gave me and he must have seen the ticket where I’ve kept it in my locker.
I felt bad for calling him a psychopath, but my subconsciousness scolded me that he deserved every outburst of my words.
Beatrice walked me to my class and pulled me in for a hug.
“Take care dear, we will see during lunch,” She said and I patted her back with my eyes close smiling as her lavender cologne filled my nostrils.
“Okay!” I murmured.
“Would you two weirdos let me pass!” Jenny’s high-pitched voice made us draw away immediately.
“Bye!” Beatrice said and purposely shoulder bump Jenny who staggered back but was lucky to be caught by her two puppies if not her butts will be crying on the floor.
“You bitch! Are you blind or something!” She yelled at Beatrice only to be ignored as Beatrice walked away heads high.
The trios glared at me and a mocking smirk formed on my face.
I turned and entered the class, sitting at my favorite spot.
“Hey, slut! You better warn that bitchy friend of yours!” Jenny fumed as she banged my table getting me shocked.
Her face was already bright red as anger radiated her face.
“They always act like a weirdo,” Bella said annoyingly as she rolled her eyes.
“Sometimes makes me wonder if they’re a lesbian,” Susan said disgustingly as I gasp staring at her bewildered.
“Listen and listen carefully!” Jenny growled as she leaned closer to me.
I could only watch as they took their turn talking shits to me, I dared not say a word unless I’m looking for trouble.
“If you don’t warn that bitch you call a friend, then you only have to suffer for her consequences,” She threatened while I stared blankly at her.
You guys always hurt me every day, so I’m used to it.
“Did you hear me?” Jenny snapped as she pulled my hair making me wince.
Everyone in the class has given their attention to us.
Some whispered among themselves while only a few cast glances of pity at me.
I struggled to free my hair from her cruel hands but she drew my head back with force.
“Okay, I will, let go of me!” I cracked, tears watering my eyes already and she left my hair alone.
“So weak, sometimes I wonder if she’s her age, you should be in kindergarten,” Bella burst as everyone in class started laughing.
“Such a cry baby!” Susan hissed and went to her seat.
Jenny glared at me once more before she swayed her flat ass to her seat.
I placed my head on the locker as I close my eyes shut.
‘Ignore them, they’re meaningless, they’re jealous of you and the only way they could feel better is to bully and make you feel weak,’ My subconscious said.
‘Stay strong,” The voice in my head kept ringing and echoing till it became faint.
“Good morning, Class,” Mrs. Valerie walked into class and everyone sat up and composed themselves.
“Good morning, ma’am,” Everyone greeted back immediately.
She was our chemistry teacher and we all liked her, also disciplined and strict that’s why we dare not behave abnormally in her class.
She walked to the teacher’s desk as her stilettos heels made clicking sounds.
I brought out my notebook and pen, ready for today’s lesson, I always enjoyed her class cause she teaches well.
Ben walked into the class and my heart went still expecting the one person I hate to follow after.
I was already sweating at the thought of seeing those fierce green eyes.
My gaze caught with Ben and he gave me one long stare making me face the board immediately as he strode proudly to his seat.
My heart pondered wondering why he stared at me that way.
“Hey! Where’s Lucas?” I heard Jenny whispering to Ben.
I was eager to know too, so I glanced over my shoulder but Ben only shrugged his shoulders and twirled his pen around his two fingers making Jenny rolled her eyes.
He glanced towards me, making me face from immediately.
I prayed feasibly that he would miss school today.
The lessons were going on, and my half mind was attentive while the other half was in deep depression.
I didn’t want to see him, I want to be far away from him.
Suddenly the door burst open and my heart stopped for a moment.
Everyone’s gaze was directed to the door and my curiosity was also at its peak.
I gazed too, and there he was, he seemed angry and eyes caught his bandaged hands.
OMG, what happened to his hands?
Guilt rushed in me when I realized he could have gotten hurt when he was beating that criminal.
“Hey!” Why are you just coming now, young man?” Mrs. Valerie asked annoyingly.
Lucas didn’t even stop in his tracks as he ignored her and kept walking to his seat, making the whole class whisper.
I bent my head in fear to avoid seeing his face.
“Hey! I’m talking to you!” Mrs. Valerie shrieked angrily, still, he did like she wasn’t saying anything, and got to his seat.
How can he be so rude to elders?
Well, I can’t blame him, he’s a spoilt rich kid.
“Silence!” Mrs. Valerie ordered and everywhere was quiet.
She glared at Lucas who seemed insouciant about the whole situation and adjusted her glasses.
Why can’t she punish him or something?
Even the teachers get scared of him, is he a god or what?
To be feared and worshiped…
Mrs. Valerie continues with her lessons and Jenny’s annoying whispers caught my attention.
“Baby, what happened to you? Why were you not in school on Friday, I tried to call you but you didn’t pick, your hands… are you hurt? Look at me!” Her irritating voice annoyed me, how can she be so stupid asking all questions in a go.
“Did you–”
I didn’t know what came over me, but I hit my pen on the desk with a loud bang.
What the heck is wrong with her?
And why am I even pissed off with the annoying questions she is asking Lucas?
Everyone got shocked as they stared at me like I was crazy.
Of course, I am, why would I just do that?
“Miss Evans, is something wrong?” Mrs. Valerie asked with a surprised look.
OMG, what came over me!
“I-I’m sorry ma’am, I di-didn’t mean to interrupt,” I stood up pleading, trying to answer my actions.
“I won’t accept any unnecessary interruption in my class, now sit!” Mrs. Valerie ordered and continue writing on the board.
I glanced at Lucas, who was staring at me with an amused look before he scowled at me while Jenny glared at me.
I faced my front immediately and sat down.
Beads of sweat piling up on my forehead as they slide down by the side of my face.
I tapped my fingers on the desk as I counted the ticks of the clock slowly.
Immediately it struck 11 the bell rang and I wasted no time scooting out of the class.
I ran as fast as I could along the hallway, I needed to be alone and calm my nerves.
