Chase POV.
Mama’s parents are scary, they look like her, but they are scary, even River is acting shy and River is never shy! Not even when we bath together, he’ll just walk around naked until mama yells at him and make him dress up. For now we are both hiding in her arms, scared of her parents, feeling all shy, they were talking in another language, Russian, it’s mama’s language.
River said hi first, I needed a lot more encouragement to do so, in the end, I did say hi, they both cooed at us, it was all cute and sweet, until they turned to more personal questions, questions about us.
“How come your other little… is… he’s…” the first woman says with a thick action turning to her partner for help.
“Too little” she adds, should I feel offended, so what if I’m younger than River.
“Chase little age is younger than four, but River is eight” mama says all proud of us, making me smile, I love making mama proud.
“What are their powers?” they ask us, that’s the tricky part, I have no powers yet, I’m really good at hide and seek, does that count as a superpower.
“I’m an air dragon! I can make mommy’s hair fly all around, and I can fly! mommy taught me how!” River took the lead in talking, explaining all about his dragon and what he does, he even snitched on mama and her threat to spank him if he misbehaves.
“Oh no! If she dares and does that!” they say taking River over their side of the table, he was getting spoiled with threats to Masha if she punishes him.
“What about your second little Masha” her mother asks her, eying me, I hide again in her arms still feeling shy, they are all cool with River that only because he’s a big boy, one who doesn’t need to stay in his mama’s arms, one who can shift to his dragon form, he knows what his powers are, I’m anything but that. I’m a big disappointment, I almost died, and now my dragon is hardly showing, I feel so bad for Masha, she deserves to be with someone who’s not me. I felt some tears coming down my face, but I didn’t want to ruin mama’s day with her parents, I should just go, if she would let me go, I could go and hide.
I tried to get out of her arms, but instead, she just shushed me, bouncing me in her arms, even placing my paci in my mouth in a try to keep me calm, but I wanted to get away, one of her mothers look at me, I felt all shy, I couldn’t hide although I need to, I felt my eyes go dark, if my dragon could come out now he’ll try to protect me.
I tried to dream of my dragon, but all I could dream of was dark shadows, I tried to find him but he’s really good at hide and seek, he can just stay hidden. No matter how hard I search for him through my dreams there’s no sign of him, it made me all feel so low. I tried to move again but Masha’s hold on me was really tight, Anastasia was all busy with all the parents being here, I can’t have her hold me. I felt my dragon stear up, he wants to protect me, but we had no real power, I moved closer to Masha’s chest, feeling myself disappear.
“Masha, where did your little go” I heard one of her mothers ask.
“He’s right….” Masha says but then she stops, looking down at me, I could see mama, but it all feel like darkness have been cast over us. Like it’s nighttime, but it’s still day, mama looked confused, her hold on me tightened even more.
“Aouch mama,” I say pouting, that broke the spell the darkness went off, it was day time ago.
“Chase, tell mama what just happened,” she asks, I look at her confused, nothing happened.
“I think your little, is a shadow dragon,” she says.
“I think you’re right, his dragon has been hiding the whole time,” mama says before turning to me with tears in her eyes before she crushes me in a hug, River joins the hug soon, jumping and down with happiness.
“You got your dragon! Like me!” River says all happy, even I had tears going down my face with happiness, I finally got my dragon.
