Angel POV.
Pain, and more pain, and then a little bit more pain, but it’s all gone now, the fever was gone, I don’t feel like I’m boiling to death any longer, I felt better, I felt good, I felt like I wasn’t sick before like everything was gone, I guess all I needed was a couple of good nights and days of sleep and now I’m all better, ready to take over the world.
“Good morning beautiful,” Hunter says sitting on the bed next to me with a big smile on his face, he looks beautiful, was he always like that?
I felt like I was seeing him through another lens, he looked different, his hair was glossier, and his eyes were sparkling but they weren’t the old blue colour, they looked deeper, a mix of blue and green with a bit of silver into them, he looked older than he did before, before he gave the age of someone in his late twenties, maybe early thirties, and now he looks like an old man, he looks tired and exhausted even, he didn’t look well, maybe he caught whatever I had.
“Are you okay?” I ask him worried.
“I’m fine, just worried for you,” he says, but I was fine, what was he so worried about?
“I’m all better now,” I answer him with a smile, I feel more energized than ever.
“Logan,” Hunter says trying to get his mate’s attention.
“Logan,” he says again and I noticed that Papa Logan was fast asleep on a chair next to my bed, we weren’t back home, we’re in the hospital, when did we come here? I wasn’t very sure, but maybe it’s how I got better now, the fever almost killed me but I’m happy to be better again.
“Papaaaaa!” I yell getting his attention, he wakes up startled looking at me like I came back from the dead, he too looks different, exhausted, and all messed up, how long was I here for?
“You’re back,” he says jumping toward the bed where I’m sleeping, he almost fell face first, but his mate was quick to hold him up, keeping him upright, he came toward me and hugged me tight, he smelled different than before, he looks different but he was the same person, the same guy I loved.
“I’m back,” I assured him, I was feeling much better now and I’m back.
“I’ll go call the doctor, if she clears you out, we’ll be home by dinner time,” Hunter says leaving the room.
“Who’s my doctor?” I ask curiously, was it the same one that came over at the house that day before I ended up here?
“Well this is your fourth, and she’s the only one daddy didn’t kick or yell at yet,” Papa answered me making me chuckle.
“That’s bad daddy, we nu yell at doctors,” I scold him making papa chuckle as well.
“I won’t yell, I’ll go call Doctor Stella,” daddy says leaving.
“Tell you a secret baby,” Papa says and I nod listening to the secret he’s going to tell me.
“Mhm,” I say out loud.
“The only reason why you have Doctor Stella is because your daddy tried to yell at her and she warned to put him in the corner if he doesn’t play nice,” Papa says and I fall on my back from laughter, that was funny, imagining daddy being put in the corner.
“Look at my patient up and happy,” a new female doctor says coming in, I didn’t recognize her, she must be doctor Stella.
“Hello,” I say with the same smile, she didn’t look too scary, she looked like any other lady or doctor, she looked kind even, but maybe she’s more than what she looks to be.
“Good morning Angelina,” she says and I glared at her.
“It’s Angel,” I say with gritted teeth.
“Angel? I thought it was a nickname, the doctor before me had you under Angelina,” she says.
“Stupid doctor,” I mumble and she nods agreeing with me.
“You should tell her about that she can…” the doctor starts but Daddy stops her with a small cough.
“Right, we’ll talk more about that later, now back to how you’re feeling Angel,” Doctor Stella says.
“I’m okay,” I say, I haven’t felt this good in a very long time.
“Let me do a quick check-up and then you can go home,” she says and I nod, she comes toward me and does the regular check-up the doctors do, she clears me out very soon and I got to go home with daddy and Papa.
“Daddy,” I say sitting in the back of his car, in my regular special seat, the stupid car seat that keeps me in place.
“Yes, my Angel?” he answers me.
“Where’s Mr. Vixy?” I ask him.
“Back home, he’s sleeping on your bed where it’s safe and warm,” Daddy answered me.
“Okay, you took care of him while I slept?” I ask them just to be sure that my teddy was well taken care of.
“Of course, we did love,” Papa assures me, and they keep on driving we didn’t go home right away, we stopped by a fast food place.
“You get to pick, if you’re not in the mood for this, there’s another place ahead,” Daddy assures me that I could pick.
“I want a chicken sandwich, and I want chicken wings, and fries, and Pepsi, I’m hungry,” I confess to them, I was starving.
“Do I get to have whatever is left?” Daddy says and I chuckle.
“I’m gonna eat them all,” I assure him.
“If you say so,” Papa adds, they ordered the food that I requested along with some food for them, they had a lot of food as well.
We got our order and I couldn’t wait to get home, I started to snack on the food, they shouldn’t have placed it next to me if they didn’t want me to eat it all.
We didn’t go back to the building where the girls were, we went to our home, the one we spend too little time in, we went to my real bed instead of the borrowed one, I now knew where my place in the world is, I belonged with Hunter and Logan in our home.
We walked toward the house with each of us holding our food in our hands, we didn’t make it to the kitchen, instead we sat on the floor in the living room.
I devoured my food, I was starving and the food was extremely good but not filling, I ate and I ate, but the hunger didn’t leave me alone, I took another bite of the food and then I felt sick, I couldn’t help the icky feeling that took over my body, I didn’t have time to react but they did, they must have seen the look on m face, daddy picked me up and ran toward the bathroom, so I could vomit everything that I have eaten earlier.
“I’m still hungry,” I whined, there goes all the food that I have eaten, and I’m starving.
“Sweetie, we need to tell you something,” daddy says washing my face and getting me out of the bathroom, they took me toward the kitchen and sat me down.
“What is it? Am I to sick to eat food? I feel good,” I say on the verge of tears, I was hungry.
“No, but you were sick, really sick,” Daddy says.
“But I’m better now,” I say again.
“Yes, you are fine now, but the doctor had to use another kind of medication,” Papa says.
“What kind of medication?” I ask not sure what they did to me, or why I can’t eat again.
“It’s more of a procedure,” Daddy adds.
“I’m not a baby, you can tell me,” I say pretending to be big when I’m tiny right now.
“Baby, we don’t want you to be worried or sad,” Papa says and I look at him with big eyes waiting for him to tell me what they did to me.
“What did they do?” I ask them.
“You see baby, you grew up in not the best part of the city, you were exposed to some leftover radiation, the humans did a very sloppy job cleaning things up, and that left you vulnerable to the radiation, the effect was very slow and over the years you lived,” Papa starts to explain things for me.
“And now what’s going to happen to me?” I asked them, would the radiation kill me now? Are they the ones making me sick?
“The radiation, it melts your cells, makes your body melt from the inside, your bones break, your tissues get all mushy, blood doesn’t circulate in your body anymore, you’d be a dying blood mess,” daddy says in the cold words not really caring that he’s scaring the hell out of me.
“How do I get saved?” I asked them, I didn’t want to die, not like that.
“You were saved, but it was dangerous and we had to take the risk, it’s either you die or we did what we had to do to save you,” daddy says.
“What did you do? How did you save me?” I asked them, I needed to know how.
“Remember that day, when you asked if you’d ever be one of us,” Papa says and I nod my head yes, still want to.
“I’m sorry that we had to do it that way,” Papa says.
“What do you mean?” I ask not understanding what they mean.
“I mean that we had to save you, we had to change you,” Daddy says.
“I’m a vampire now?” I ask them happily.
“You are one now,” he answered me and I smiled a big wide smile that had me showing all my teeth and hopefully my new fangs.
“Do I have fangs?” I ask showing off all my teeth.
“Baby ones,” Papa says.
“Yay! Will I ever be able to eat food again? I’m hungry,” I whined.
“You can still eat food but you’ll need blood too, a lot at first and then you get used to having less and less,” papa says.
“Yayy! I’m a vampire now,” I jump up happily.
“Do I change into a bat?” I ask them just to be sure.
“No, and you don’t fly, and you can still get hurt, now down you go,” Daddy says pulling me down from the top of the chair, that wasn’t fun.
