Hunter POV.
“I swear this one is trying to play the old vampire who’s scary and trying to take over the world,” I groaned looking at the list of names, I’m sad to say that I had to reject a couple of the vampires, I decided to submit a class for the ones that aren’t mature enough to be dealing with humans yet.
“I like him the most though,” Victor says pointing to the crazy one name.
“I think we should keep him,” I agree with Victor.
“So glad we are,” Victor says, he didn’t do the interviews but he interacted with all the ones that came over.
“Excuse me,” I say getting my phone out and hearing it ring, I checked the name and saw it was my mate, maybe my baby wants to talk to me.
“Logan, it’s really late, I hope the little one isn’t giving you too much trouble,” I say over the phone.
“She’s running a fever,” Logan answers me.
“Did you give her some meds?” I asked him just to be sure, I know he could deal with her, but I was worried too.
“Of course I did, the fever hardly went down, I’m not sure what to do,” Logan says sounding worried and scared.
“Humans get sick sometimes it’s fine, just keep an eye on her, if things get too bad take her to the emergency room, if not get her a doctor early in the morning,” I try to explain to him what to do with her right now.
“Fine, bye Hunter,” Logan says, that night didn’t pass easily, I was worried sick about Angel, maybe it’s just a fever, maybe it’s just some kind of stomach bug, it doesn’t have to be too bad but my mind only went toward the case scenario worried about her and what might have happened. The morning took its sweet time to get here, I kept checking my phone, seeing if there were any messages or calls from Logan, he finally called again saying the doctor thinks it’s just the flu and she’ll be better in a couple of days.
My work was only meant to be for three days, but those three days turned into days of hell, I couldn’t focus, I couldn’t pay attention to the interviewers, and I tried my best to get the days to pass but the news of her being sick was driving me insane.
“I need to get home,” I begged William.
“No,” he says in a cold voice.
“She’s sick, my baby is sick, I need to get back home and be there with her,” I begged him.
“Her being sick and you being away should be your lesson to not run around slapping people around,” William says ending the call, he didn’t let me explain things anymore, or tell him that I need to get back or else.
Three days they were days of hell, I tried to do the interviews, but the interviews went badly, some of them drove me insane, they made me feel insane, but I was here, I had to stay here until the three days were over, when the time hit midnight, when I was done, I ran out of the headquarter and ran home back to my baby.
I texted Logan telling him I’m on my way telling him I’m almost there, I told him to open the door for me letting me in, and he didn’t mind doing so, he welcomed me with open arms and a hot kiss on the lips.
“Wake up, daddy is back,” Logan tell the baby trying to wake her up, but she was deep asleep.
“Have she been like this the whole time?” I ask him, she looked very pale and sick, she looked exhausted, even while sleeping she was looking tired and sick.
“Angel, my Angel, it’s time to get up,” I say shaking her awake, I should have never punched Ryan but what else was I supposed to do.
“She’s not waking up,” Logan says, sounding worried, I know it’s late but it’s not that late, it’s more of early in the morning.
“Call an ambulance, now,” I say when I touched her boiling skin, the way her breathing was shallow, and the way she wasn’t answering me or any kind of stimulus.
We called the ambulance and they came in a record time, they had her in the ambulance while me and Logan followed behind them, they speeded through the night, blaring their sirens telling the late night people to get out of the way so we could get to the hopsital.
We went right into the emergency room we got a doctor checking her, they asked about more information we told them that she’s been sick for days, we had doctor checking her, she was taking meds, but nothing was working on her, and now, she’s not waking up, their first plan was to put her in an ice bath, they emerged her whole body in the cold water trying to get the fever to go down.
“Her fever isn’t going anywhere,” the doctor says, they had her body pumped with meds but nothing was working on her.
“The ice isn’t working, what are we going to do?” the nurse says.
“We need to get the big guns in, call him,” the doctor says and we all turned to him who is he talking about?
They took us into another room, it’s the doctor’s office, he didn’t look too happy today, and neither did the two of us, who’s the big guns? I’m ready to go get him from his balls to get here and see what’s wrong with her, I didn’t care what it would take to get her to feel better.
“We need to call him,” the doctor says again.
“Who’s him?” Logan asks for the two of us.
“You’re not going to like it,” the doctor says.
“Just say it doctor,” I say getting angry with him, why won’t he just say the words and be over with it.
“Well he’s not a certified doctor but he’s one of the best out there and you have some problem with,” the doctor says turning to me this time.
“I don’t give a fuck, tell me who it is, get them here, we need to find a solution for her situation,” I begged the doctor, I don’t even care what and who is would be.
“It’s Ryan,” the doctor finally says.
“Ryan? He’s not a doctor, what would he be doing here?” Logan asks angrily.
“He studied the human body for way too long, he knows what he’s doing,” the doctor answers.
Logan turned to me, it’s my call, it’s up to me now, I’m the one who hates Ryan’s guts, I’m the one who punched him more than once, but for my Angel I’d do anything, I’d climb every mountain, I’d move them for her, for my Angel I’d do anything, even if it means getting Ryan over here to check on her, anything for her.
“Get him over, or I can drag him over,” I say trying to sound strong and tough.
“He’s on his way,” the doctor says and we both went back to Angel’s room sitting next to her, holding her hand, petting her hands, talking to her but she was out of it.
“Ryan of all people,” Logan whispers and I sighed.
“I’ll sacrifice a goat for satan if it means that she’ll get better,” I answer him and he just chuckles.
Logan came in after fifteen minutes, he looked at the girl in the bed and then took a good sniff, he looked around, he touched her, I had to hold back and not slap him or kick him for touching her, I had to sit back and let him check on her, when he was done, he didn’t look too happy.
“What’s the news?” I ask him.
“Outside,” Ryan says and we both followed him outside, we all made it to the doctor office and took a seat.
“It doesn’t look good,” Ryan says.
“What is it?” Logan asks.
“Hyperthermia, also known as fever, a very high fever that will end up killing her, reasons unknown, you could run all your blood tests but by the time they come in, she’d be gone, from my experience I say she was exposed to the radiation,” Ryan says, meaning the left over radiation from the human bloody nuclear war.
“What should we do?” I ask with worry and fear.
“Nothing, you can’t save her, she can’t be saved not now,” Ryan says.
“How come? We’re vampires, we could fix everything,” Logan says.
“We could, except the radiation have ruined every cell she got,” Ryan says.
“How do you know?” I ask him.
“She smells off, she smells of radiation, it’s very faint, unless if you taste her,” Ryan says, he’s looking for a thing we didn’t know exist.
“We need to save her,” I say the diagnose was terrible, and I wasn’t sure what to do anymore.
“Are you sure? We should run the tests,” Logan says needing to be sure, but I believed Ryan for now.
“Being a sadist is both art and a science, you should know how to hurt the human body without actually hurting it, and I never play with a sick human,” Ryan says.
“You tried messing with her before,” I say between gritted teeth.
“I knew she wasn’t red, I wasn’t going any farther than sex, but now with the fever peaking up, I could smell it a lot more,” Ryan says.
“Doctor, Ryan, we need a solution, if he’s right, we need to fix her before the fever does,” Logan says.
“There isn’t much to be done for her now, we usually lose them by now,” the doctor says.
“You need a miracle to fix every cell in her body,” Ryan says.
“We don’t need a miracle, I know what to do,” I say thinking of a solution for her situation.
“Weren’t you listening Hunter, we do,” Logan says.
“You do,” Ryan agrees with him.
“We need a solution to fix every cell in her body, it’s killing itself, killing her from the inside,” I say.
“Yes, the impossible, a miracle,” Logan repeats.
“We have to change her,” I say, that would save her and I’ll do anything to save that girl, and I mean anything.
“She’s not ready yet,” Logan says.
“She’s a strong girl, she’ll be ready,” I say, we need to save her.
