Angel POV.
They took us somewhere, I expected to go somewhere in the city, somewhere where our homes used to be, maybe an old warehouse, or maybe just a house, I wasn’t sure where the rebel had taken as headquarters, but it wasn’t in any place that I expected it.
They took us to the middle of the city, the literal middle of the city, weren’t these places taken by the vampires? I thought they were, but apparently, it’s not, they got into the mall, the freaking mall, wasn’t this place close? I didn’t know.
They went through the parking lot and kept going down, then down, and down some more, we went to the lowest parking floor, we were in the underground, and they parked the vans next to a couple more similar vans if I had to guess these vans belonged to the mall, I knew we’re not going to go up the floors or go into the shops, their whole camp was in the bottom floor of the parking lot, three floors under the ground, this sounded like a story out of the after war history books.
“What are we doing here? What I’m doing here?” I ask out loud, meaning Caleb mostly since he’s acting as the boss since he’s the badass who shot Dylan and brought me over here without my consent.
“You’re here because you needed saving,” Caleb says answering my question.
“Who said I wanted to be saved? I was happy where I was,” I answered him, I was happy, I was safe, what is he talking about, I didn’t sign up to hide underground.
“Don’t be stupid girl, I don’t know what they promised you, but I can assure you it’s a lie, they were lying to you, the only thing they want from you is your body and blood, you’re saved,” Caleb says his nose going against mine, neither of us stepping down, now that I’m far away from Dylan.
“He didn’t touch my body, he didn’t touch my blood, he didn’t want any of those, you human monster, you only think of your dick and sticking it into someone,” I answer him feeling hurt and sounding bitter, I didn’t need his saving.
“Stay in your place human girl, you’re one of us and not one of them, you bloodsucking whore,” Caleb scolded me in a cold voice, we both stayed in our place just looking at each other until someone dragged me out, it was more than one, and although I tried to push the hands off me, the rebels won for now, they pulled me back.
They didn’t have anywhere to put me, I don’t think they’ve been thinking about keeping any prisoners maybe it’s better if they just let me go, there’s no need to keep me, but instead of letting me go they had some kind of a cage, they pushed me in and then locked me in.
“Hey, Caleb, look who got me in a cage,” I call out pointing to where I’m being kept, they had tents and sleeping bags set around the parking lot, they had chairs and they’re living off the artificial light and electricity, I know it was dark out there, but right here it’s always and forever dark and cold.
“We’re keeping you since you’re their beloved pet, we’re keeping you,” Caleb says with a small smile on his face, he’s a monster, he’s a jerk, he talks badly about the vampires, but he’s the real monster.
“I’m not anyone’s pet, they don’t really care about me, you’re going to regret this,” I inform Caleb.
“Really? Their military boss was ready to die to keep you safe,” someone else yells, I turned to their side and noticed that they were one of the ones who dragged me out from my safe room.
“He’s dead, I’m no use to you anymore,” I say, Dylan died, and no one else would care about me.
“Don’t be stupid girl, one bullet to the shoulder won’t even kill a human, let alone a vampire as old as them,” a girl says giving me a side look, the whole rebel assembly was around a hundred people maybe and most of them were looking at me as if I’m the number one enemy.
“Those leeches are more than a hundred years old, my grandma used to tell me stories about them,” one person says, more than a hundred, they don’t even know how old they are and I’m not about to correct them.
“Hey girl,” Caleb yells meaning me, I turn to him with a death glare.
“What do you want jerk?” I ask him through gritted teeth.
“Do you know how old that vampire you love too much is?” he asked me, I knew the answer, but I wasn’t ready to answer him.
“He told me he’s thirty,” I lied, he looked in his twenties, but thirty was a good bet as well.
“And for how long has been thirty?” he asks me, the question looks and sounds like it’s one from the Twilight movie I loved.
“I don’t know, he didn’t tell me,” I lied.
“Liar,” Caleb says coming toward the cage slapping the whole thing a couple of times scaring me, I took a couple of steps back just to get away from his hand reach.
“I don’t lie, but I’m sure you do,” I answer him from my place close to the ground, behind bars, I wasn’t in power position, but that never stopped me before.
“Fine you blood sucker pet, I’m sure you’d tell me,” he says leaving me behind, I rolled my eyes at him and stayed in my place, I looked around the place, I looked at the humans that they had and looked at them, they didn’t look like rebels, if they cared about my opinion they looked like kids playing dress up.
The first night was the worse, I always knew the first nights are always the worse, they are long and painful, they took forever to be over, and I had to survive this night on the floor, I had no idea if the sun came up or not, but I wook up, and then the rest of the humans woke up, most of them got out of the parking lot, getting inside their vans and leaving, I didn’t know where they’re going but they are, I was glad to stay alone, some silence, maybe I can try to get out, maybe I can manage to break the lock, it’s not a real lock, and maybe I’m stronger than I know.
“Now it’s just me and you pet,” Caleb says coming toward me, he opened the cage and stepped inside, the space was very tight, and it could hardly fit the both of us.
“Tell me what did the vampire do, that a human can’t do?” he asks me, I looked him right in the eyes and decided to answer him.
“He made me feel safe, not like you, you human jerk, I don’t have any information for you so just let me go,” I say standing up for myself trying my best to get him to get away from me.
“Safe? No one is safe around them, all they want is your blood,” he says.
“They didn’t go to my neck once, unlike you jerk,” I say, he’s too close to me, too close to my neck right now, and it’s making my heart beat like crazy, I tried to push him off, but this cage is tiny, maybe it’s met for some tools or something.
“You haven’t seen shit girl, now tell me the truth, tell us everything you know,” he says to me, his face was way too near my face and I could smell his breath which stinks.
“You have a terrible breath,” I answer him, he slapped my face, he slapped me hard, making my whole face move to one side, I knew it’s going to leave a mark.
“Now, I’m going to ask you again, what’s their plan?” he asks me, is he stupid? I only been with him for a day, I can’t and won’t know those things.
“I don’t know anything,” I say honestly, but he slapped me again, this time on the other cheek, now they are similar.
“Liar,” he says, slapping me a couple more times as I screamed out hoping for help, but there’s no one around here to help me, no matter how much I yelled, Caleb was the real monster, I don’t care what they say about the vampires, they got nothing on Caleb, even when William killed that guy, it was nothing compared to this.
Once he was done fullfiling his dirty needs, he got out of the cage locking it behind him, leaving me alone inside, I pulled my knee up toward my chest, I curled on myself and I cried, and cried, I wished for death, I didn’t want to live any longer than this, my life was over, and this whole thing is just a nightmare that soon would end with my death.
