Gilbert snapped out of his thoughts, at Morgan’s words. He knew he was making Olivia embarrassed and nervous, but he couldn’t shake off the feeling of wanting to know more about her.
She looked so much like someone he knew, that he felt like he was staring right at the person in his head.
“I still can’t believe Morgan got married, and I didn’t get to know. I must say, that’s kind of you, really kind of you.” Xavier whined, feigning a hurt expression.
“I’m sure must be the hurt one. I’m just getting to know my daughter in-law. Why don’t you come sit with me?” Gilbert smiled gently, nodding at Olivia.
Olivia was about to get up, when Morgan pulled her down, making her sit on his lap.
“I want my wife close to me.” He smirked, leaning in to inhale her scent.
Olivia’s cheeks flushed red, this time, so red like cooked shrimps. She smiled, secretly pushing off his hand that was tingling her body, his breath was enough.
She’s trying to make her act normal, but Morgan wasn’t making it easy for her.
“I had no idea you were into young girls. Look, she’s pretty young.” Xavier butt in again, grinning at Morgan.
“Can you just keep quiet, Xavi. Morgan, if you won’t let her come to me, then why bring her here?” Gilbert said, looking sternly at Morgan.
Olivia couldn’t let Morgan stop her again, she brushed off his hands and smiled.
“I don’t mind sitting close to your dad, it’s not like he’s going to harm me or is he?” She smiled softly, exposing the deep dimples on her cheeks.
As if he was hypnotized, Morgan let her go, his body suddenly heating up. Her smile just now, was one he had never seen, her previous smiles were obviously faked, but this….
Gilbert couldn’t help the tugging in his heart, as he kept looking at Olivia’s face. He tried shaking it off, but no matter what, past memories kept flooding into his head.
“Hi sir, I’m Olivia.” Olivia smiled, sitting close to Gilbert.
Just then Xavier’s phone rang in his pocket, he took it out and glanced at the caller ID, his gaze suddenly darkening.
“I’d take my leave now. Nice meeting you, angel, I hope we’ll have a nice introduction next time.” Xavier smiled toothly and left the ward.
Gilbert was too engrossed in his thoughts and didn’t pay attention to Xavier’s exit.
Morgan didn’t fail to notice the expression on his father’s face. He knew something was going on in his mind, but that would be discussed later.
“Olivia dear, you can call me dad.” He smiled.
“Okay Dad.”
It felt like forever since, Olivia used the word dad, though it tasted bitter in her mouth, she couldn’t help but say it and it felt good. Her heart felt warm.
She had expected Morgan’s father to be a cold, difficult and angry man, but she turned out to be wrong.
He was much the opposite of Morgan, his smile, sweet and genuine. Although there was a slight resemblance between him and Morgan.
Olivia found herself becoming fond of the old man, he was really nice.
“I hope Morgan isn’t giving you a hard time? He could be a hard nut sometime.”
“No dad, he’s good to me.” Olivia smiled sweetly, her cheeks flushing red, as she glanced shyly at Morgan, who had his gaze fixed on her.
Gilbert didn’t bother asking her about her family or about herself. He already liked and accepted Olivia as his daughter-in-law. If it was because of her resemblance to the person in his memory or because of Olivia’s personality, he had no idea.
“Did he force you into marrying him? Tell me the truth.” Gilbert asked again, still not convinced about Morgan getting married and keeping a woman.
“Is that how low you think of your son?” Morgan growled, sounding hurt.
“Keep your mouth shut.”
“Now tell me, did he force you?”
Olivia’s smile grew wider, “Of course not dad, I married him on my own accord, I love Morgan, that’s why I chose to marry him.”
Her cheeks were flushed, her smile appeared genuine like a girl who was really in love with her lover.
It was now Morgan’s turn to feel uncomfortable, every glance Olivia threw his way, his heart would tug with emotions he couldn’t fathom.
He was never expecting her act to be so real that it was getting to him. Nevertheless, he was Morgan and this little act wouldn’t get to him.
If anything Gilbert was happy, Morgan found someone who was his choice and would make him happy. Olivia was genuine and he knew it.
The doctor came in shortly, it was almost time for Gilbert’s medications.
“You’d come to visit me next time, right?” Gilbert asked.
“Of course dad.”
“Alright dear, take care. Don’t forget to inform me, if Morgan dares to bully you.”
Olivia nodded getting up, she didn’t know when Morgan came close but she felt his hand around her waist.
“I wouldn’t dare to bully my wife. I’d only do that in bed, right?” he mumbled slowly, teasing her earlobe.
Olivia shuddered, her body heating up as his breath and mouth teased her skin. She needed not to know that her face was a blushing mess.
“You’re crazy. They heard what you said.”
“Let them hear.” He hummed, his hand still wrapped around her waist, and his face tucked in between her neck cape.
“Old man, get your medications, I want to take my wife home.” Morgan smiled, his eyes clouded with desire, known to Gilbert and the doctor.
They could already understand the meaning behind his words.
Gilbert couldn’t say a word as Morgan’s actions left him speechless just like Olivia. She was still smiling when Morgan carried her off the ground, exiting the ward.
Olivia, out of embarrassment tucked her face into Morgan’s chest, she couldn’t look at the doctor or Morgan’s dad in the face, not again.
“That kid. Who knew he would be so clingy after getting a wife.” Gilbert laughed.
