“Ouch!” Olivia winced, as her face came in contact with Morgan’s sturdy chest.
“Can’t you be more careful?” Morgan frowned as he released his hold on her.
Olivia rubbed her now reddened face, her eyes glistening with tears. She couldn’t believe how someone’s chest could be as painful as Morgan’s chest.
Morgan’s gaze darkened as he saw her moist eyes and reddened face. His heart tugged with tenderness and guilt, suddenly wishing never to see her in pain.
He carried her off the ground, suddenly startling her. Olivia wanted to protest and fight, so he could put her down, but she couldn’t find the strength to do it. She melted Into him, unexpectedly feeling secure.
If it was because of his soothing cologne and scent or because he didn’t intentionally hurt her, she had no knowledge, but she felt secure.
Morgan carried her into his sturdy, sitting her on the desk. Olivia tried to move, but was stopped by his low husky growl.
“Don’t move.”
Olivia stilled, even though she didn’t want to. Their bodies were approximately close, letting them have a vivid view of their face. His hot breath fanned against her face.
Morgan’s dark, yet piercing gaze lingered on her face for some seconds before he looked away, reaching for something in the cupboard.
Olivia’s face was already heating up, her cheeks flushed red like cooked shrimps. She found Morgan’s face extremely handsome and seductive that she couldn’t help but feel uncomfortable.
Morgan opened the ointment he took from the cupboard, took a huge amount into his palms and slowly rubbed it on her face.
Olivia closed her eyes, melting into his warm touch, the ointment was cool and soothing, making her feel less pain.
When Morgan was done, he gave the ointment to her, “use it if the pain persists.”
Olivia nodded, still staring at his face, afraid to look away, like she was hypnotized.
Morgan paused, the tenderness in his eyes quickly vanished, replaced with his usual cold and aloof gaze. He moved away from her.
“Go and rest in your room. I’d take you to meet my father tomorrow, don’t forget to put in your best act, the contract is just getting started.” He mumbled, his tone cold and distant.
Olivia nodded slowly, her eyes darting around the large and spacious room, occupied with books and bookshelves.
She came down from the desk and left the room, not before mouthing a “thank you” to him.
Outside the study room, Olivia hurried to her room like she was being pursued, by some kind of masquerade.
Immediately she went inside she closed the door and fell to the marble floor, clutching her heart, that was thumping so hard like it would jump off her chest.
She took in a deep breath, eyes darting around her room, “Olivia get a grip on yourself, this is just a fake marriage. No strings or feelings attached.” she told herself, getting up from the marble floor.
Morgan’s gaze was fixed on the tablet on his table, a smirk escaped his lips as he picked his phone and dialed a number.
After a few rings the line went through, with Xavier’s voice speaking.
“You really have a lot of guts and it’s interesting.” Morgan smiled.
“What do you mean?” Xavier’s anxious voice.
“You can’t figure it out? What’s happening to your brain lately?” Morgan mocked.
Meanwhile, Xavier sat inside his car about to ignite the engine, when Morgan’s call came in. He decided to take the call, but Morgan’s words were creepy the hell out of him.
Beads of sweat were draped on his forehead, as Morgan’s teasing yet dangerous voice filled his ear.
He hung up the car and started the car, then again Morgan’s call came in. The urge to ignore the call was there but the urge to know what Morgan was up to was higher.
Just as he took the call, Morgan’s dry laughter filled the air.
“Are you that bored to decide to play with me tonight?” Xavier asked, his voice laced with anger and confusion.
“You can say that.” Morgan smiled.
“The road is so quiet, why is that? Your car seems to be the only car speeding along the road.” Morgan added, a mischievous glint, on his face.
Xavier stilled, his heart suddenly thumping hard. He marched his brakes to slow down, his eyes slowing darting around the road, and indeed the road was more quiet than usual.
He frowned, more sweat draping his clothes and head, even though he continuously wiped them.
“Morgan, what game are you playing with me?”
“Games?” Morgan roared in laughter.
“Let’s see if you can survive this.” He smiled.
Just when Morgan’s voice went silent, Xavier heard a beeping sound in the back of his car.
He turned to see a black object, with red lights, the countdown number was already at three.
Bomb!
“Morgan you asshole!” He cursed loudly.
He tried getting out of the car but the doors were locked and no matter what he tried to do they weren’t opening.
He knew he was going to die, with one minute left on his side, he took out his other phone to dial a number. Just before he could dial the number the phone exploded, pieces shattering on his face.
“No, I can’t die like this! No! Morgan you asshole, stop the fucking device!” he cursed, hugging his head.
Three, two, one….. blast!!!
Xavier’s car screeched loudly and halted. He slowly got up, his eyes darting around the car to find nothing usual apart from the device which had already gone mute.
His eyes trailed to where the loud noise came from, that was when he saw a burning vehicle.
He hurriedly opened the door and came out, to see his newest and favorite car being burned by the fire.
“Morgan!!”
Xavier was fueled by rage, his body vibrating with anger as he watched his car burn down.
“You like what you see?”
Morgan’s mocking voice snapped Xavier, reminding him that he was still holding his phone.
“Fuck you Morgan! You’d regret this!”
“Tsk, you seem to have lost your manners. I saw how scared and frightened you looked a few minutes ago. I didn’t kill you and you should be thankful for that.”
“You’re an asshole!” Xavier cursed again.
“Curse me all you want, step brother. This is just the beginning.” He smiled and with that he hung up the phone.
It took Xavier self control not to smash his phone on the floor as he cursed Morgan. He could envision the smirk on Morgan’s face as those words left his mouth.
Revenge. Xavier’s heart tugged with pain as revenge was the only word he could think of.
