Isabelle stared heavily at the space that Liam’s car occupied earlier. Her heavy breathing was the result of running after him to catch up with him. She was fully aware that something was wrong when she saw the grim expression on his face. She saw him storm out of the doctor’s office but he hadn’t noticed her not even her constant yelling to show that the situation was grave.
Empty-handed with no purse or money, which she had forgotten in the cab she came with earlier due to her panic state, she decided to walk home. A persistent hooting of a car horn trailing behind her jolted her from her thoughts. A great trepidation filled her heart when she recognized the car owner, the moment she turned to face it.
She helplessly tried to run but it was already late, the person in question had already caught up with her, gripping her arms tightly to prevent her from escaping.
“Let me go, Max” Isabelle screamed at the top of her voice expecting someone to notice her situation.
“Hahaha,” Max burst into loud laughter. “Look around, my dear. There’s no one here” he said with his voice laced with a hint of mockery.
“Darn…” Isabelle cursed, looking helpless as he glanced around. Her train of thought had led her to a deserted area. Now, she was stuck.
“It’s fine, my love. I’m here for you” Max assured her as a playful smirk danced on his lips. He wasn’t letting her go, not when his plan was already put in place.
The clear scene of her betrayal was replaying vividly in Isabelle’s head, stinging her heart painfully. She thought she could forget about it. But, she had forgotten about Max. He didn’t look like he was ready to let her go. The infatuated feeling she thought she had for him was gradually turning into disgust as she stared at his hands gripping her. What made her fall for him in the first place?… She should have paid heed to Liam’s words when he repeatedly warned her about him being a heartbreaker and a manipulator. He had taken advantage of her feelings, creating a permanent stain that she would carry on her heart for the rest of her life.
Max’s fury surged through his soul as he detected the irritated gaze she had in her eyes. He wasn’t done with her yet. He was going to make her feel more guilty than he already had and he had a perfect plan for that. But first, he sought her cooperation. A sudden idea popped up in his head.
“I’m pretty sure you don’t want your beloved fiance to know about our little escapade” he smirked evilly, his tone filled with sarcasm.” If you don’t want him to find out, then you have to come with me”
“So vile…” Isabelle screamed in her thoughts. She had made the biggest mistake in her life and he was using it to threaten her. She hesitantly asked,” What proof do you have?”
“Oh! Are you doubtful of me?” Max asked with an amused expression before his lips curved into a smile”I have a video, if you don’t believe me, I could show it to you”
Isabelle’s lips widened in disbelief. Horror was evident on her face. It was in her car it happened, how did he record it? As if Max could read her thoughts he gave her an answer that left her feeling ashamed.
“You were so engulfed in pleasure that you didn’t notice when I planted a camera in the front seat. Even when I picked it up and left, you were covering your face in shame… But I’m pretty sure you enjoyed it just like I did” he smiled derisively like a pervert.
“Shut up. ” Isabelle yelled, her heart shattering into tiny pieces at the unexpected way he spoke to her but he wasn’t done yet.
” Has Liam ever made you feel like that?” Max asked with a sarcastic smirk on his lips. “I don’t think he can, since he’s.. let me put it this way… A little bent… Hahaha”
Isabelle felt a surge of anger through her as her free hand moved swiftly and hit Max hard in the face. Max was shocked and couldn’t respond for a while.
“Woah, you’ve fallen for him and here I thought you liked me instead,” Max remarked feigning surprise. He had suspected and her reaction now had confirmed it. Too bad she was going to get more hurt and he was going to be the sole reason for her pain.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about” Isabelle feigned ignorance as she avoided his gaze.
“You don’t have to hide it, it’s quite obvious” Max countered. “But you’ll have to come with me or wait for your love nest to crumble”
The fiery light in Isabelle’s eyes instantly dimmed as she let Max pull her towards the car. He had an evidence which she could refute.” Where are you taking me to?”
“Just for a little drink” he replied and added when he sensed her hesitation” Don’t worry, that dumb cousin of mine won’t find out. I already left something intriguing for him. It would take a while before he notices your absence”
“What…. What have you done?” Isabelle stuttered with fear written all over her face.”don’t you dare try to hurt him?”
“Woah! When did you become so protective of him… It’s left to him if he can withstand it”Liam retorted as he forced her into the car.” Quit being stubborn, it won’t help you”
Max drove the car across the street as silence engulfed the atmosphere, creating an awkward feeling. His fingers slid down her knees as I gradually moved her dress up and placed his hands on her thigh feeling the softness. Tears welled up in Isabelle’s eyes but she could utter a word. The shock was too much for her to bear. One moment she had thought he was the light that she needed to get out of Liam’s grasp, now he was the one she dreaded the most. The secrets she was trying hard to keep would come to light if she dared to resist him. She had to be patient, at least till their little outing was over.
