Protecting Olive

Book:Mated To The Big Bad Alpha Published:2024-8-24

Wayne arrived at the hospital and ran as fast as he could, tracing Dolly’s scent. He saw that a few thugs were destroying things in the hospital and the police was trying to round them up.
He could perceive the same dark energy coming from them all. But, it didn’t belong to them. It was foreign to their soul’s energy. They were under something’s possession.
Alpha Knight frowned deeply and ran upstairs, taking the stairs because he was not patient enough to just stand doing nothing in the elevator. As he zapped to the final floor, where he perceived Olive would be kept, he began to hear noises. Someone grunting and hitting objects. His heart failed.
“Olive. No… Olive,” he kept muttering to himself as he tried to locate them. Dolly’s scent was so strong now. But so was the smell of the dark energy.
He found and entered the ward the sound was coming from and his eyes widened. Dolly was in a direct combat with one of her colleagues, Doctor Aurelius. He was the one with the very dark energy.
They were fighting so hard and Dolly already had a broken nose and a fresh cut across her cheek. Wayne’s brows thickened and he launched into the room, grabbing Doctor Aurelius as he was about to hit his sister with the IV drip stand. Wayne pulled him up by the neck and hit him against the wall.
“Wayne,” Dolly breathed out in relief as she clutched her arm. Wayne grabbed the doctor and punched him once, knocking him unconscious.
“Where is Olive?” he asked immediately.
“When I entered the room, I felt something was going to happen so I kinda locked her in the bathroom. There was not enough time to transfer her to another ward,” Dolly explained as she walked hurriedly to the bathroom. She opened it and Wayne walked inside. Olive was lying in the bathtub, on a thick blanket and covered by one too. She was sleeping peacefully in her hospital gown.
“Baby,” Wayne called emotionally as he walked to the tub. Dolly went over and stood guard by the door of the room, looking out at the hallway and listening attentively for any near sounds.
She didn’t bother about Doctor Aurelius because she knew he was not waking up anytime soon. Another of Wayne’s specialty.
But she thought for a while. Why would Doctor Aurelius connive against Olive? Did he know she was Wayne’s mate at all? Even if he didn’t know, why would he attack her? While they were fighting, she was getting strange aura from him but couldn’t really understand what it was. She was not an expert in these things like Wayne and Shem, her brothers were. But she knew something wasn’t right.
Back in the bathroom, Wayne had bent by his mate and was holding her warm hand. She was looking so beautiful. All her wounds had healed completely, not even a scratch was accidentally left. Even he didn’t have such a healing body. But he remembered that she didn’t have it also. In fact, she was so slow in healing. That was why he had used their special healing balm on her after she was tortured by Cynthia. So her healing this fast under an hour or two with severe life threatening injuries was a strange thing.
He kissed her hand and caressed the spot his lips touched. He felt joy, ecstasy, and peace as he held her hand and looked at her face.
“If this is what it feels like to be with you, then I want you forever,” he whispered and touched her hair.
The hair she had made over for him earlier was back to normal. They must have loosened the braids for her comfortability.
He exhaled and carried her out of the tub, holding her gently because he was still afraid she was hurt when obviously she wasn’t. He believed her chest wound was not fully healed no matter how strange the healing power was. Dolly heard him coming out and looked at him. She saw Olive in his hands.
“Wayne, I don’t think we should leave her in this ward. It’s not safe anymore. How about the secret ward?” she asked. Wayne shot her a dirty look.
“Who said I’m leaving her in this hospital? Where everyone is being possessed?” he asked in return. Her eyes widened.
“Possessed?”
Wayne pointed towards Doctor Aurelius with his chin.
“Make sure he doesn’t get away. He has a lot of explaining to do,” he ordered darkly and walked out of the room, hugging Olive to his body. Dolly shivered as she was left standing there. People were being possessed in the hospital? But how? And by what?
Wayne walked into the hallway and met with Jake, Shem and Crusoe on the way.
“Where are you taking her?” Shem asked.
“Home. This place isn’t safe. Go and help Dolly bring over that doctor with her,” he stated and walked past them.
“I think I should follow him. You guys can handle whatever’s in there, I suppose?” Crusoe asked and nodded towards the room.
“Yeah, sure,” Shem drawled. Crusoe nodded and hurried after Wayne while the other two walked towards the room.
“Alpha, we managed to curb the commotion downstairs. It was caused by a group of teenage boys. Drunk boys actually… or so it seems,” Crusoe began to explain. They reached an elevator and he was the one who pressed the button to go to the ground floor.
“And how did drunk boys manage to get into the hospital?” Wayne asked in a bored tone. He knew they weren’t drunk but possessed. But even he didn’t know what they had been possessed by and how it entered through the borders of Balendin.
“That… I don’t know. I met the police captain again and he said all the security cameras around this vicinity and even the hospital stopped working few seconds before the crash,” Crusoe answered after they got into the elevator. Wayne furrowed his eyebrows.
“Before the crash? Has there been a situation where the cameras stopped working before?”
“Yes. But only when the hospital’s security turns them off for maintenance or something. It stopped working on its own today for the first time.”
“And that too before the crash.”
“Yes. Also, according to a patient who was being wheeled out for fresh air by her brother, she saw the boys coming inside after the ambulance came in. They just stayed in their car and she thought they were waiting for their friend to get discharged or something,” Crusoe added. Wayne pinned his lips together.
“Anything else?”
“Yes. The two strange doctors are not from Balendin Pack. In fact, they’re part of the men we caught at the border two weeks ago. They somehow escaped,” he looked at his Alpha’s tight expression.
“What do you think, Alpha?” he asked.
“They’ve been planning this all along,” Wayne replied and Crusoe nodded.
“Their target might be Olive, but I feel like there’s something else they’re aiming at. She might just be a pawn in their hands. A step to actualizing what they actually want. Now, that we know who they’re after, we just have to know why and who’s sending them.”
The elevator door dinged open at the hospital reception. Janitors could be seen cleaning the broken things up while policemen walked around investigating things. Detective Kelly Reynolds looked up from where she was talking to a nurse and her eyes met with Wayne’s. She was about to smile but didn’t when she saw who he was carrying. She immediately excused herself from the nurse and told another policeman to take over. She hurried to the Alpha who was beginning to make his way out of the hospital reception.
“Alpha, wait,” she called out but Wayne didn’t stop.
“What is it?” Jericho popped out in front of her. God knows where he came out from.
“I just need to ask him a few questions,” Detective Reynolds rasped and moved sideways to escape Jericho. But he moved sideways with her. She moved the other way and he blocked her again.
“Move, mister,” she scowled at him and he smiled, revealing his beautiful dimples and pearly whites.
“Alpha’s busy right now and shouldn’t be disturbed. Mind asking me this questions instead?”
Kelly scoffed and walked away, back to the place she was standing before.
‘Keep an eye on that Reynolds,’ Jericho heard Wayne’s voice in his mind.
‘Yes, Alpha,’ he answered and peered his eyes at Kelly, trying to figure out what it was about her that was strange.
