Olive was covered in blood. Even her red dress was darker because of the dark liquid . Her face was bleeding and blood was gurgling out her mouth as she struggled to breathe. She was half conscious despite all the pain.
“Olive! Baby!” Wayne panicked as he saw her in that state. He held the glass in his arm and pulled it out abruptly, slicing his palm in the process. But did it matter? Of course it didn’t matter to him. Olive was dying here.
“Baby, hang in there. Hang in there for me please,” he cried. He felt hot tears stinging his eyes as she gasped and blood poured out. The metal was through her heart region. If help didn’t come soon then she would… No. No way!
‘Jake! I need help. We’ve been in an accident by Moonlight High. Olive… please help Olive,” he pleaded to Jake. He could only pray that he heard. The car was sideways and he was at the side that rested on the ground. He couldn’t open his door to come out and couldn’t risk moving out through Olive’s door.
He looked to the backseat and found out that the back was totally compressed from top to bottom. He could try to pull them apart to create space, but that was too risky. Olive had a metal through her chest and she was hanging at the upper side of the car, facing up. Any rough movements or shaking of the car with force would snap her heart in two. He would die if Olive left him. He couldn’t lose her.
Suddenly, Wayne let the damn tears fall down his face. He didn’t care about his ‘oh so serious’ reputation of being the Big Bad Alpha anymore. He cried.
“Baby, hang in there. Help is coming, okay, love?” he pleaded as he held her hand with his bleeding own.
“Wa-y…” blood poured out again and she coughed lightly, feeling devilish pain everywhere.
“No, baby. Don’t talk. Just stay still. Just stay, okay?” he told her and moved to hold her in place. She was beginning to slip. And if she slipped down, that would be bad news. His eyes moved to her legs that seemed to be cut in half. God! What was this? Why did he bring her out?
“Olive. I’m so sorry,” he teared up again and bowed his head. He had once again managed to haunt his mate’s life. What was wrong with him? Why was this thing still toying with him? Why did it hate his mate? Just why?
‘Who the fuck is out there?! Help us!’ he screamed to all his pack members who were in the vicinity whose mental shields were down. Half a minute later and he felt the car slowly and gently being moved from it’s lying position.
He held firmly unto Olive so the movement wouldn’t disturb her despite how slow and gentle it was. When the car was on its tires, he let go of her and opened the damaged door immediately.
He jumped out and ran to the other side. Staff and the security of the school were the ones who had come to their aid. They had heard and seen the crash in their wall and ran out to help, not even knowing it was their Alpha until he screamed into all their mind links as they were about to move the car.
Wayne opened the door of Olive’s side and winced. She was turning pale. She had lost too much blood. He bent down beside her and took her second hand which was covered in blood flowing from her shoulder through her sleeve. He bent down and touched his face with it.
“You will be fine, baby. You will be all right,” he encouraged and buried his head in her palm. The men who stood behind him were surprised with how he was acting towards this lady. Was she his girlfriend? But they heard their Alpha didn’t do serious relationships. Who then was this lady he had fallen in love with?
“Alpha, let us help bring her out,” one of them said. He looked at Olive and got even more scared. He needed a professional to do that. He couldn’t risk his mate’s life.
“I can’t risk it. I can’t risk her.” He sounded so hopeless.
At that moment, the siren was heard accompanied by three cars. Jake was the first to jump out when they reached. He ran to Wayne and bent down by him.
“No. Shit! Come over here!” he shouted to the paramedics. They began to run to the crash and Wayne reluctantly made way for them. He didn’t want to leave her but he knew even he couldn’t help her at that critical point. He couldn’t heal.
He felt Dolly holding his hand as they made Olive go fully unconscious so she wouldn’t feel the brute of what she was going through. Dolly pulled him away and Shem came to hold him too. They all had followed Jake along with the ambulance and paramedics. More people who heard the Alpha earlier were coming too.
The men, Wayne’s men to be precise had never seen Wayne like this before. Not even when his mother who he was the closest to died. Wayne looked shattered and without a soul as he walked… no, limbed towards them. They were standing two metres from the crashed car.
“Alpha, she’ll be fine,” Jericho said to him. Wayne didn’t say a word and didn’t look back when he heard the paramedics wheeling Olive hurriedly towards the ambulance. Some soldiers who arrived were the ones who pulled up the part of the car that was pinning her legs. They didn’t remove the metal but carried her with it as gently as they could. Removing it could kill her instantly. They put her on oxygen too and hurried so they could perform the surgery at the hospital immediately. Jake ran into the van they had entered from the castle while Wayne climbed into the ambulance with Olive. Dolly followed him.
“Baby,” Wayne called gently as he bent by her carrier. She was surrounded by three paramedics. His eyes welled up with tears as he gulped painfully. About twenty minutes ago they were laughing and flirting.
“She will be fine.” Dolly kept whispering to him. They arrived at the hospital and Olive was rushed into the Emergency Room. Dolly worked in that very hospital but she was on a one month leave and therefore couldn’t join in the surgery. But, the hospitals two best surgeons were the ones to operate on her. Apart from the stab, Olive also had lots of dangerous injuries that needed attention.
Wayne paced back and forth the waiting room as soon as the door was closed. He didn’t have the mind to look through the glass and see the operation. He was failing at this.
“Wayne, you need to get attended to too. You’re still bleeding,” Dolly cautioned and walked to him.
“They are healing,” he simply replied.
“But they won’t heal before night time. If they don’t get attended to, you’ll get an infection. And why is your arm bleeding so much? Did you get a puncture? Did something stab you too?” she asked and held the arm. Looking closely, she saw that the dampened fabric was actually torn and the skin was terribly broken. She glared at her brother and pulled him along.
“Come and have that treated,” she scolded. As she dragged him along, the men arrived.
“Where are you taking him?” Shem quickly asked.
“He’s severely injured and he won’t let himself be treated. He’s just too stubborn,” Dolly ranted. She took the lifeless looking Wayne to a room and called on a nurse to attend to him. He had his wounds cleaned up and bandaged. Glass shards were picked from parts of his body and the stab wound was stitched up. He was given new clothes which he wore before going back to wait in front of the theatre. All his men were waiting there quietly. He sat down without a word to them and closed his eyes.
“Why don’t you have some rest, Alpha?” Jake suggested but Wayne didn’t even act like he heard him. Dolly strolled back in and sat beside her brother.
“Are you all right?” she asked him. He gulped down painfully and exhaled.
“I have to get something for you to eat. You need strength. The surgery could take the rest of the day,” she muttered and held his hand.
“I don’t want anything,” he croaked. Everyone around them was worried. Both for the Alpha and his mate.
“Do you remember what happened?” Terry asked.
“Were you hit by a runaway driver? The crash was terrible and it couldn’t just happen on its own,” Jericho stated. Wayne opened his eyes then furrowed his brows in thought. He remembered their car got hit by a dark and mighty force. But what was that? He looked at the theatre door’s see through glass where he could see heads of doctors performing the surgery. He got on his feet after a deep sigh and began to walk away.
“Where are you going?” Dolly asked in alarm.
“The crash site,” he answered darkly.
