Wayne cleared his throat because he felt a lump coming up. He didn’t want to answer this question. At least, not yet. He looked at Olive’s eyes and realized she really wanted to know. She must have been dying to know for some time now. Considering the fact that his eyes have been displaying a show lately. He smiled.
“You won’t tell anyone, right?” he asked and she quickly nodded.
“This is a long time secret that no one knows except my father, Dolly, and my men. No one in the pack knows,” he stated and ran his fingers through the hair on her back, careful not to disturb the thick braid behind.
“Why just you guys?” Olive asked with furrowed brows.
“Do you want to know why?” he asked and she nodded again. He exhaled with a smile. She was his mate. And she should know what she was mated to.
“I have three wolves,” he revealed.
“What?!” Olive shouted and stepped back. Wayne laughed at her expression.
“This is why few people know. Don’t want you all to give me that expression.” He laughed again like it was a normal thing. Olive still stood with her eyes as large as saucers, her mouth dropped open and her body frozen to the spot. Wayne had three wolves? Three wolves?!
“What? How… how… how,” she kept muttering and he kept laughing.
“Hey, be serious here!” she scolded and he frowned.
“Why? Did someone die?” he asked and she frowned at him too. He walked and sat on the sofa he was sitting before then gulped down the rest of his juice. Olive hurriedly walked to him and sat down beside him.
“But Wayne… how is that possible?” she asked. All her years in The Vrek Cult, she had learnt about different creatures and so many mystical phenomenons that occured. But three wolves in one body? Never heard of. What usually occured was when two or more mystical creatures were in one person. Say a vampire and a werewolf. A hybrid. Or even tribids existed. But come on! Three wolves? No wonder they call him The Big Bad Alpha! And she was his mate. Wait a minute… she was mated to three wolves! Holy crap!
“You just realized you’re the mate of all three of them?” he asked as if reading her mind.
“This is crazy,” she mumbled and held his arm.
“Can I see them? I wanna see them,” she whined and kept tugging unto his arm like a child.
“Not today, baby girl. We’re supposed to go out,” he said and patted her head like she was a puppy. She frowned, not taking that reply he gave her.
“Then let me just see you change your eye color. Let me see it. I want to see it,” she demanded.
“Gosh, you’re so adamant. Okay, okay. I’ll show you,” he relented and she smiled. She stared into his eyes and slowly waited for him to change it.
Immediately, a red, glowing hue burst out and she squealed. It brought with it a fear inducing aura and a shill crept up her spine.
She felt this one was the bloodthirsty part of Wayne.
“Fury,” he said in a wolfy voice.
The red glow left and an amber/goldish glow came up. It was so fierce like a soldier. That was the vibe Olive was getting from it.
“Fierce,” the wolf said and went back.
Slowly, the vivid blue crawled in. It was pale at first but it began to glow until it was the brightest eyes. Olive felt like it was looking directly at her. And somehow, she saw herself merging with it. It stayed the longest before disappearing. Olive was left with a deep feeling of satisfaction.
“Wow,” she breathed out. Wayne laid back on the seat and stared at her satisfied expression.
“This is the coolest thing I’ve ever experienced,” she giggled and hugged his arm. Then she sat upright immediately.
“But why didn’t he have an introduction?”
“A name you mean.”
“Those are their names? I thought that was just their description. Like, what they’re made up of. Because I somehow got that aura from them before they spoke the words.”
“They’re named based on what they do. Fury comes up when I’m so angry and kill mode has been activated. Fierce comes up when I’m ready to do something that takes bravery, guts and determination. It’s that confident and extremely powerful part of me.”
“And the blue eyed wolf?”
“I… I don’t know,” Wayne said and shrugged.
“You don’t… you don’t know?”
“He’s been dormant all my life. I only feel him stir whenever I’m discussing a certain topic. The healers told me what it was but I never agreed I had such a creature. So I didn’t really know what he was capable of,” Wayne explained.
“And when did he become active?” Olive asked. She was so curious.
Wayne looked at her and answered, “That morning… in Selcece Pack.”
“Wh-what?”
“The wolf is attached to you, Olive. The wolf is attached and stirred up by only one person in the entire universe. My mate.”
Olive was so surprised. No wonder he showed up whenever Wayne was about to say something emotional to her.
“So all this while you had him inside you but he never came out?” she asked excitedly.
“Never once did. Only made movements whenever I was discussing about my mate somehow. The most I have felt of him was eight years ago when I felt it stand. That was when I took that necklace from Dante. The day you got kidnapped.”
Olive took a deep breath of relief and hugged Wayne. They were so destined to be together. Even that day that she hated so much, her mate was waiting for her already.
“I can’t believe I’m this lucky to be the one who is mated to you. I’m so lucky,” she said into his chest. His arms encircled her.
“No. It is I who is lucky to have you as my mate. If it was someone else, I’m sure they wouldn’t match my spirit like you do. You fit me so well,” he cooed and kissed her forehead.
“Can I name it?” she asked as she looked up into his eyes.
“Sure. As soon as you realize what it fully does, you’re free to name it.”
“Thanks, Wayne,” she said and he lifted up her chin and enjoined their lips in a sweet, smooth kiss. He fully understood and agreed with what the healers said more than a decade ago. He realized that he had just unlocked something much more than just a blue eyed wolf. Something so much more.
