“Girlll” Sarah exclaimed as soon as they sat down. They had hugged each other and caught a bit while standing till one of them brought it to their attention that they had been standing for a while now.
Ophelia had always stuck out like a sore thumb and luckily for her so was the same with Nancy and Sarah, they happened to meet at the university and suddenly began to compliment each other so well that they knew they had to be friends. The three of them knew of Cade and she had to hide from them the escapades she had with him that night.
“Don’t start” Ophelia said, she knew how dramatic Sarah could be and how far they both could take their teasing. She would do the same for him.
“Is that the same Cade Frost?” Nancy asked not able to believe her ears. It was impossible that the man responsible for any tears in six years while in Starlit Haven looked that happy with the girl also responsible for turning so many men down as well.
“The same one” Ophelia responded.
“How did this happen? I want to hear everything” Nancy said.
“I mean I could not believe my eyes when I read his name on the invitations, I mean there have been a lot of things that have been unbelievable in the past few months,” Sarah said not allowing Ophelia to respond to Nancy’s questions.
“Firstly you left Starlit Haven so willingly after swearing never to leave” Nanacy said and she knew they were about to go on to make a list. She had sworn never to leave Starlit Haven on her own accord. She wanted her father to come pick her up from there but her father had found a way to ruin her plans when he told her to come home. He made the offer so enticing at first and then followed up with threats when she did not budge. She knew her father well, he was not someone to say a thing and not follow through with it. She knew he was going to keep to his word no matter what happened.
“And then you suddenly announced you were getting married after swearing heaven and earth that you would never do that” Ophelia had Green to thank for this. Even though he never convinced her to go through with the wedding his words somehow encouraged her to. “I always thought I would get married before you do that you might die a spinster with twenty-seven cats” Nancy chimed in.
“And then you announced you were getting married to Cade Frost, THE CADE FROST, whom I thought you hated with everything within you” Sarah continued.
“So you have to please tell us how this happened” Nancy added.
“Are we here to talk about my husband or to catch up”
“Your husband?” both of them gasped as they sat in shock at her calling him so fondly. “Oh my gosh, you are down for him so bad” Nnacy said and Ophelia was glad that it was working and they were buying it so well.
“I mean he is, isn’t he?” she asked shrugging. If they were buying it then they were doing a very great job and that was what she wanted.
“I thought you hated him,” Sarah asked.
“Well, I did but that was only because I did not know him very well but once I got to know him everything else began to make sense” she said like a girl in love.
“Oh please we have got to stop this” Nancy said waving her hand in the air to stop the cheesiness in the air.
“Yeah, let us stop” Sarah said rubbing her body before adding. “Look I got goosebumps” she said showing them her hand and they burst out into laughter.
“I can not believe it, you are married,” Sarah said again after they had settled down.
“Yeah,” Ophelia said hoping that they would stop the discussion and focus on something else. They spent the next three hours catching up and drinking they were already tipsy by the time Cade came to pick Ophelia up.
“I told you not to drink too much,” Cade said as he held Ophelia by the waist.
“The husband is here,” Sarah said into the ears of Nancy, maybe she thought she was whispering but Cade could hear them as loudly as possible.
“How are you going to get home?” Cade asked wondering if he needed to call them a taxi.
“Our driver is there” Sarah stepped up again pointing to the car in the distance.
“Babe, wait here” he said steadying Ophelia before walking over to the car to confirm that it was there for them and then asking him to take care of them after exchanging numbers.
“You are a true gentleman, I wonder why we hated you, Ophelia especially but maybe she has changed” Nancy said in a hiccup as they staggered away.
“You drank a lot” Cade said holding Ophelia trying to get into the back of his mind what her friend had said.
“I did” she giggled as she leaned on him and gave a weird smile.
“I told you not to” he said and she frowned peeling herself away from him as she tried to study his face a bit and take in his features. She was failing in that task because her eyes were barely able to say open before falling back shut.
“Let us just get you home” he said putting her hand over her neck and holding her by the waist.
“What are you doing?” she gasped slapping his hand away.
“Trying to take you home” he muttered closing his eyes and opening them again.
“Oh okay” she whispered closing her eyes and putting all of her weight on him. He pulled her a distance before realizing that it might not work to go like that.
“Get on my back, let me give you a piggy ride,” he said to her and she shook her head.
“I do not have time for this”
