Chapter 77 More Important Than His Wife

Book:Please Let Me Go, Mr. Sheridan Published:2024-8-20

“Aurelia, if you become a singer and hold a concert in the future, I will definitely go!”
“Why did you choose the School of Economics and Management? You should have chosen the School of Music! Such a promising singer was drowned out.”
Aurelia regarded their compliments as just the Callum effect.
They praised her so much because they wanted to please Callum indirectly.
The boat drifted on the sea for an hour before returning to the island. The party ended at around midnight, and Aurelia finally saw Callum.
However, Laura was still standing next to him with a big smile on her face. The two of them were seeing off a guest. They were so handsome and beautiful that if people didn’t know them well, they would think they were a couple!
Suppressing the bitterness in her heart again, Aurelia walked over without thinking and took Callum’s arm. “I’m tired and want to go back.”
Callum looked at the time on his wrist. It was already past twelve o’clock. It was indeed time to go back.
But before he could speak, Laura beside him smiled and said, “Callum, I didn’t drive here today. I wanted to stay here for one night, but everyone left. Can I take your car later?”
Callum certainly wouldn’t refuse such a simple request.
Aurelia’s heart sank when she saw Callum didn’t refuse. She forced a smile and silently went to find her phone, playing with it while waiting for them to leave.
When everyone had left, it was already one o’clock and they boarded the return boat.
After a lot of trouble, Aurelia finally reached land. Seeing Callum’s car, she walked towards the passenger door naturally.
However, a woman suddenly jumped out from behind her, opened the passenger door faster than her, and shouted to Aurelia, “Aurelia, get in quickly. It’s already late.”
Of course she knew it was already very late. She could shout if she wanted, but why did she sit in the passenger seat?
What about her?
Just as she was lost in thought, Callum gentlemanly reached out his hand to hold the roof of the car for Laura. Laura got in, and Callum closed the door.
Then he opened the back door of the car and extended his right hand to Aurelia in invitation.
Aurelia was no longer sleepy. So, was Laura more important than her?
She really wanted to yell, “I don’t want to sit here anymore!”
But after looking around, Callum’s car was the only one there.
Ignoring Callum’s invitation, she sullenly opened the other door of the back seat and got in herself.
Callum then realized that something was wrong with Aurelia. He walked around to the car and half of his body was leaning into the car. “What’s wrong?”
Aurelia closed her eyes, “I’m sleepy.”
“Well, let’s drop off Laura first and then go home.”
After the man finished speaking, he closed the car door and sat in the driver’s seat.
Aurelia was fuming inside.
In the dark night, the car sped along the wide road. Aurelia looked out the window and lost all sleep. Listening to Laura in front of her laughing softly, she wanted to plug her ears.
Callum still didn’t talk much, but every time it was his turn to speak, he would reply with a few words. The man controlled the atmosphere of the conversation very well. Even though he didn’t talk much, it wouldn’t make Laura embarrassed.
Finally, Laura was sent to the high-end residential area where she lived. Looking at the residents on dozens of floors, Aurelia wondered if Laura’s house was bought for her by Callum.
Before she could finish her thought, the car stopped and she heard Callum say, “I’ll take you upstairs. It’s not safe at this late hour.”
Aurelia finally couldn’t help cursing inwardly, “Fuck! Is Laura your wife? She’s already downstairs. Isn’t it safe enough?”
In a high-end residential area like this, there were security guards patrolling back and forth.
“Okay, Callum.” Laura didn’t refuse.
Callum glanced at Aurelia in the back seat of the car, whose eyes were closed. Thinking she was asleep, he got out of the car.
Aurelia waited downstairs for more than twenty minutes, but Callum didn’t come down.
She was so angry that she laughed. Callum must have sent Laura to bed!
Under normal circumstances, if someone dared to make her suffer like this, she would have lost her temper long ago.
She didn’t dare to lose her temper with Callum, but she wasn’t going to suck it up either!
She opened the car door, got out and walked towards the entrance of the community.
Ten minutes later, the phone in her purse rang. It was Callum. She sneered and answered the call, “Finally finished sending people away, Mr. Finnegan?”
“Where are you?”
Aurelia was also furious and started to speak out of turn, “Of course I left! If I didn’t leave, would I stay and wait until you guys fell asleep? Or would I go up and watch you guys sleep?”
There was silence on the other end of the phone for half a minute before the man spoke in a deep voice, “Laura is a child adopted by Roy and me. Don’t let your imagination run wild.”
“Ha! So you adopted a girl! You’re indeed rich. Am I imagining things? Callum, before you tell me not to imagine things, take a look at your behavior to see if it will cause unnecessary misunderstandings to others!”
Ignoring her sarcasm, he asked again, “Where are you?” He needed to explain to her in person.
“Why bother? Bye!”
After saying that, she hung up the phone.
This was a high-end residential area, and at this time, there were very few cars along the road, let alone taxis. Aurelia had no choice but to take out her phone and try to hail a cab.
However, just as she turned on her phone, Callum called.
She hung up without thinking, opened the cab-hailing app. and the phone rang again… It rang so many times that Aurelia couldn’t even call a car.
She was so angry that my stomach started to hurt.
Finally, she received a text message from Callum. “If you don’t answer your phone, you’re dead!”
What a blatant threat!
After taking his call, she started to scold him directly, “Callum, I never knew you were such a shameless person. If I don’t answer the phone, it means I don’t want to talk to you, understand?”
Callum’s face was gloomy because of her anger, but at this moment, he saw a familiar figure on the road to the right, and he hung up the phone without saying a word.
Aurelia stood there looking at the hung up phone, speechless. Why was he angry too?
A beam of car lights came over, and Aurelia turned back reflexively. The light was too dazzling, so she took two steps back and closed her eyes. It was not until the car stopped next to her that she could see clearly that it was Callum’s car.
Callum got out of the car, grabbed her wrist directly, and with force, she fell into his arms.
“Let go of me!” She pulled at her wrist, but the man didn’t move.
“What are you making a fuss about?” No woman had ever dared to be so willful and presumptuous in front of him. Aurelia was definitely the first, so he didn’t understand what Aurelia was thinking. He just felt that Aurelia’s anger was inexplicable.
“I’m not making a fuss! Would I dare to make a fuss in front of Mr. Finnegan?” Aurelia’s tone was aggressive. Callum felt that she needed to calm down.
