MONALISA
“You are staring at me like it’s the last time you will be seeing me” Lucius chuckled but I didn’t find it funny.
Nothing was funny.
Mum was at the place they agreed on already and Lucius was off to meet her.
I picked his gun up and handed it over to him.
“Thank you, Love” he kissed me.
“Lucius, you have to come back alive” I said to him.
“I always do. And I will make sure your mum is safe too. She will be taken away safely as soon as Sandro gets there”
“Please be safe. You know… You know you promised to be there for our child and for me . And… and the vacation too, you have to go back with me and…” I was getting anxious already.
“Just trust me, Cupcake. And I am not forgetting any of my promises. We are going to do all of it after tonight. You know what? Once I leave, you can write everything you want us to do. Every single thing you write until I am back, I will do each of them no matter what it is. So make sure you write a lot” he tucked the gun away and cupped my face.
“This isn’t the first time I am doing this and it will be like it has always been. Simple and safe” he reassured me and I hugged him.
He hugged me back but only briefly.
“Don’t hug me like you are never going to hug me again” he pulled away and bent down to my stomach.
“I will be back soon” he kissed on my stomach, straightened up and pulled my cheeks.
He had walked up to the door before pausing and walking back to me.
“This button here…” He pulled out a drawer and put my hand in it, making me feel the top.
There was indeed a button there.
“Press on it every five minutes. I will get the notification and I will be assured you are safe”
“If anyone needs the button, it’s you. You are the one going out there”
“Just make sure you press the button, that will really help me. Okay?”
“Okay” I chuckled softly and watched him walk out of the room.
My heart was pounding within me. I was really scared for him and I couldn’t wait for tonight to be over. For mum to be back and for Lucius to be back to me.
I looked out of the window and continued looking out until I saw Lucius step out, Bella behind him. She pulled the car door open for him and he stepped in.
I watched Bella get into the driving seat.
“Please be safe” I mumbled one more time before getting into bed.
I sat up in bed and glanced at my wristwatch. I had to press the button every five minutes to satisfy Lucius.
LUCIUS DEVINE
“Boss” Bella called and I raised a brow.
“I don’t know if I will be making sense. I think Andro should come along with us. He will be useful in protecting you, boss”
“Bella. More than I need protection, Lisa needs it. You never know what runs around in Sandro’s head. I am not leaving Lisa without protection” I replied.
“I understand better now, boss”
The drive continued. Silent as I preferred it to be.
About three minutes later, my phone buzzed in my pocket. I brought it out and found that it was the notification to notify me that Lisa had pressed on the button.
We arrived there about twenty five minutes later. I pushed the car door open and alighted. The place was a small cafe and one thing was sure, it was going to be ruined. The cafe was in a quite desolated spot. Just the perfect place to get this done with.
“Bella” I called.
“Yes boss?”
“Contact the owner. He doesn’t have to bother about his cafe. I will buy it off his hands. Whatever price he demands”
“Yes boss”
I walked into the cafe, knowing fully well that the place was already surrounded by my men. Diane was sitting at a table on the farther side. She was the only one in the cafe as I had insisted she booked it for the entire night.
“You are here” she mumbled as I walked over to her and sat opposite her.
“You wanted to see me?” I started, acting oblivious to everything.
“Yes, I wanted to see you. It’s about Lisa” she started.
“Lisa is doing perfectly fine with me. You don’t have to worry about her at all”
“That is the issue. Her being with you. I don’t want her with you”
“We have talked about this before. She is with me because she loves me and because she is safe with me…”
“Hello Lucius!” Sandro barged in and I held myself back from letting out a sigh of relief. The earlier this is over, the better it is for me.
“Sandro? What are you doing here?” I asked and glanced at Diane, keeping up the act.
“Woman, you did well” Sandro grinned at Diane who immediately got up from her chair and moved away from me.
My phone buzzed again, notifying me that Cupcake was still safe. I just had to finish up here and go back home. In forty minutes, I should be with her already.
I lowered my head and when I raised it, it was with a nonchalant look as my men rushed into the small cafe.
“Diane, you really did well” I smirked.
“Get her back home” I ordered and Sandro suddenly laughed.
“I suspected this right from the start” he laughed harder and stopped.
“But where is your Lisa? What do you call her? Cupcake, is it? Where’s she?”
“My… Where is Lisa?” Diane asked sharply.
“Take her home” I ordered firmly and my men pulled her out while she screamed demanding for Lisa.
Lisa was safe. She had pressed the button a minute ago so she was definitely fine.
And my home was heavily guarded, Sandro’s men could never access it. My room could only be opened by my fingerprint and that of Lisa once I had the security mode activated and I had it activated before I left.
Lisa had to be safe.
“I don’t have much to talk about with you” I mumbled, pulling my gun out.
“For Lorden, I made his death quick and quite painless but you have stressed me out a bit so that might not happen with you” I reached for the trigger.
His men, my men were all on guard.
“You might not want to pull that trigger, Lucius Devine” he cackled.
“Because the moment anything happens to me, my men would get rid of your lovely Cupcake. I know you are obsessed with security” he walked towards me.
“So I know your home must be heavily guarded but I don’t mind exhausting my men on killing her so I sent enough men” he chuckled.
“No matter how much your men resist the attack, my men would infiltrate and it would take just five minutes to thaw your door open with the tool with them. It takes twenty five minutes for you to get back to your home. It would take my men fifteen minutes to get to your Cupcake. She would be long dead and cold when you get to her” he laughed.
“I thought I could trust that woman but I knew better than to trust her fully. I never trust fully, you know Lucius” he chuckled, stopping right in front of my gun.
“I am going to fucking kill you!” I swore.
“Go on. Try it” he grinned.
“Oh, did I forget to add that they would rape her corpse? They are mostly one minute men though so you wouldn’t mind, would you?”
“As long as I stay alive, she stays alive. As long as no one leaves here and you communicate with no one, she stays alive”
At that moment, my wristwatch beeped. A security breach. My men at the gate were being attacked already.
Lisa… I had to keep her alive. She had to be alive. I could lose my worthless, tainted life but her life and my child. I couldn’t bear to lose her. I would have to die too if she died.
No… I didn’t want to think too much of that possibility.
Lisa wasn’t going to die and I would die to be sure of that
