“Lucius ” I called softly.
“Good morning ” I whispered.
“What’s the time?” I asked.
“7am?” He replied in an unsure tone and sent his tongue licking behind my ear.

“Get rid?” My brows arched.
“Forget I said that. I need to meet the both of you” mum said.
“The both of us?” I was surprised.
“Yes, the both of you. I can still see you, can’t I? And I should be able to see the man my daughter is staying with too? Let us meet today”
“Today? We are… We are out of the country, mum” I replied.
“Out of the country? And you didn’t think you should at least tell me about that, Lisa?”
“I… I am sorry”
“Alright. It is all fine if you are safe and fine. But I will still need to talk to you both.” She said and suddenly ended the call.
I furrowed my brows, wondering why she did so.
“What did she say?” Lucius asked.
“She wants us to meet. You too” I replied.
“That’s a bit strange” Lucius mumbled.
“She shouldn’t want to see me except…” He trailed off.
“Except what?” I asked, pulling my tired self to sit up.
“Don’t worry about it”
“I want to worry about it. Except what?” I asked but before he could reply, my phone rang again.
“You have a call” He pointed out.
“You aren’t avoiding this” I pointed a finger at him.
“Cupcake, you do have a call though”
I glared at him before picking up the call.
“It’s your mum. My phone calls might be getting monitored so I decided to call through a public call ….”
“Getting monitored?” My muscles tensed.
“What exactly is going on? Why is no one telling me a thing? What is going on over there, mum?” I asked with an energy I had no idea I had.
“Put Mr. Devine on the phone, Lisa. And I am fine. And safe”
“Let me have the phone” Lucius demanded, his eyes turning a shade darker.
“I want to hear too” I shook my head and placed the phone on speaker instead.
He looked at me for a few seconds before giving in to me listening to the conversation.
“I am here. What’s going on?” Lucius asked.
“I met with Sandro yesterday”
“Mum! Why would you meet with that dangerous…”
“Yeah, I know” Lucius voice cut me off coolly.
“You know?” Mum seemed surprised just as much as I was at everything that was going on.
“You have people after me?” Mum asked.
“They are there for your safety.”
Mum sighed and continued.
“I met him and begged him to spare Lisa” mum started and I felt my heart warm.
She loved me so much. And she just wanted me to be safe.
“But he said he is after you. He wants to eliminate you and plans on using Lisa to get you. He will spare Lisa if I help him get rid of you.” Mum added.
“And what did you say, mum?” I immediately asked.
“I haven’t given him any response” she replied.
“But your response is clear already. If you agreed to do it, you wouldn’t be telling me about it.”
“That’s right so you’d better be grateful to me that I am not throwing your life out of the window like you did with that of Seb. Instead, I want us to put an end to Sandro. He is the mastermind of all of these anyways”
“So you want to lie to Sandro that you are on his side and while you tell him that you will be meeting me at a place where he can get rid of me, it will actually be a trap for him”
“Exactly. You must have killed a lot of people to even know my plans before I tell you” Mum said and Lucius bit down on his lower lip, hard.
“This will be a bit dangerous for you, I will have more men watch after you”
“No, not more men. I feel creeped out already, finding out that I am being watched.” Mum replied.
“Anyways, that is the plan. You get rid of that bastard and ensure Lisa is forever safe.”
“We will be back soon” Lucius said.
“Alright. I… I love you, Lisa” mum said and I felt my heart warm even more.
“I love you too mum” I said hurriedly and heard the disconnect tone.
“We will go back in two days, Cupcake. We will come back for the vacation when we are done with this” he leaned in and pressed a quick kiss to my lips.
“I have a few calls to make” he was getting up already.
“Lucius, would I be there with you guys when this happens?”
“No, Cupcake. You will be at home. You have to be safe and I am not bringing you out with me when bullets will be flying around”
“But…”
“Cupcake, you are not going with me.” He said with a tone of finality.
I sighed softly.
“Good” he said and walked out with his phone.
I clasped my hands together.
“I hope no one dies this time. Not Lucius and not mum.”
