They both sat in silence in the car, Rachel was really uncomfortable with the silence it was awkward, but she didn’t know what to say, then her thoughts drifted to the other night where she had put in so much effort to give Zech a wonderful birthday, but he just was too ungrateful, she suddenly remember his words which stabbed her like knives, a lone tear fell from her eyes without her noticing it.
Dreg saw the tear in her eyes. He was shocked and confused. He thought he must have hurt her in some way he didn’t know. He gently asked her, “Rachel, are you okay?” The question snapped her from her thoughts “what?” She asked looking at him then she felt her cheek wet, then she realized the confused look on Dreg’s face, she didn’t realize she was crying.
“Why are you crying? Did I do something wrong? Should I stop the car?” He asked her anxiously, it was really his first time seeing a young lady cry, he had never associated with a lady before, she was the first person he had taken interest in.
“No no, I’m fine, just some unpleasant memories” she said while wiping her eyes, she saw the look on his face, then she gave him a bright smile to reassure him she was totally okay.
Dreg finally breath in relief, he didn’t know what he would have done if she didn’t stop crying, the driver at the front his right hand man Lucas was really shocked at the scene he had just saw, he knew his boss so well, he never shower his emotions never had he felt lost or anxious in his life, this was a first, he couldn’t believe his boss had such sides. Finally they arrive at the restaurant.
Rachel was amazed by the restaurant, it was really beautiful and magnificent, she didn’t think she would ever eat in such a place in her life, well this would help her take her mind off Zech, she touch her pocket search in for her phone, Dreg noticed she was looking for her phone , he brought it out from his pocket and handed it to her “here”.
She smiled at him, before she switched it on “thanks” he gestured her to the place he made a reservation, they both sat down, she switched on her phone, lots and lots of voicemails and messages popped nonstop, she smiled awkwardly.
She saw Vincent’s message ‘Rachel where are you? Are you okay? Were all worried about you call me when you get this” Rachel smiled a little and texes him back ‘I’m fine I need some time off’ she didn’t bother to open Zechs messages then she texted Bella ‘I’m sorry but I am away for the time being, we will keep in touch okay?”.
“Are you ready to order” the waiter said as she turned and looked up to him and then at Dreg, “I uh” she didn’t want to say she knew nothing about their food so she pointed at Dreg immediately “give it to him, let him order”.
Dreg smiled at her and placed his order, the waiter was back a few minutes with lots of dishes like macaroni and cheese carbonara, pastrami Burger Mac con, Shrimp cocktail the most expensive was Grand Velas Tocas, she saw the food was familiar she had seen it somewhere so she asked the waiter pointing at the Grand Velas Tocas, she smiled and replied.
“Ma this is our most expensive Dish cost $25, 000, this taco features Kobe Beef, Almas Beluga Caviar & Black Truffle Brie Cheese and is served on a gold flake-infused corn tortilla. The taco is also served with an exotic salsa comprised of dried Morita chili peppers, Ley.” As she explained Rachel’s mouth was already watering, she didn’t know what that was but the way the waiter explained it she couldn’t wait to dig in.
Dreg just sat opposite her and dismissed the waiter when she was done, he watched as she listened to the waiter as she swallowed her saliva time and again, he was amazed that such a little thing could make him happy. “Dig in”
Rachel didn’t wait to be told again, as she started eating, tasting and enjoying every single food placed in front of her, she chewed with a smile on her face forgetting she was with someone, she was too immersed in the food, Dreg just watched her eat, he just kept smiling.
He didn’t know what it was about her that always dragged him close to her, he felt this familiarity with her, like she was someone close to him, he wanted to find out more about her, as if Rachel finally sensed someone looking at her she raised her head up only to find Dreg looking at her.
His mirthful laugh escaped his mouth, Rachel wondered why he was laughing, little did she know she looked like a cute bunny which stuffed lots of food into its mouth, he took the tissue to wipe her mouth “you look really cute when you eat” he said Rachel blushed in embarrassment.
“Thank you for the food” she said smiling, then she was back to her normal guarded expression, the smile on his face disappeared.
Lucas was standing not too far from them, he was beginning to think he was hallucinating because since he had known Dreg he had never saw him smile much less Laugh out loud, he thought this young lady must be special, Dreg had never for once shown interest in women they were plague to him, he avoided them by all means possible, the servant in his house are all male no female, but look at him sitting with a lady and also laughing.
He was really happy for him, he knew Dreg had a very sorrowful life, he was happy the lady brought some light to his life, he now had a great deal of respect for the lady, he wished she would stay with him forever so his boss could give up his revenge and dark memories.
Rachel looked up at Dreg, and he knew she had something to ask him. He dropped his cutlery and waited for her to ask, “Dreg, why did you bring me here?” She asked him.
He smiled and replied “I felt you needed some space and time to yourself, no offense I’m sorry for bringing you here without your notice”.
“It’s okay, I really do need some time off” she smiled at him, he saw thousands of stars in her eyes “Can I know more about you?”
Dreg was surprised by her question, he didn’t expect that she would want to know more about him or even ask him, he expected her to just beg him to take her back, but here she was asking him about himself, he was amazed and happy.
