Peter paced back and forth in his study, his anger boiling over, he was beyond furious. He had spent a fortune acquiring the silver bullet laced with yellow wolfsbane, it wasn’t easy to obtain it to begin with, and yet it seemed that Zech had somehow managed to survive the assassination attempt.
He had sent several assassins after him, and yet none of them had been successful, he had killed almost all, how he survived the wolfsbane, still fazed him.
The last surviving assassin stood before him, his head bowed in shame, he shivered in fear, he knew what fate awaited him being that they failed in their mission.
“I’m sorry, sir,” he muttered. “We did everything we could. We shot him with the bullet, just like you instructed us to. But we don’t know if he’s alive or dead, he managed to kill 7 of us even in his weak state”.
Peter’s eyes blazed with fury. “What do you mean, you don’t know?” he bellowed. “Either he’s dead, or he’s not. It’s a simple enough concept, isn’t it?” He smashed the glass jar on his table in anger.
“You were, the best of all in my armies, yet you’re telling me, he might be dead or alive with no proof” he thundered the assassin named Luca was so scared that he almost peed on his pants.
The assassin hesitated, clearly afraid to speak. “We… we heard rumors that Zech might be… different,” he said finally. “That he might have some sort of… Abnormal supernatural abilities, from that of a normal Alpha. We don’t know if the bullet was enough to kill him, he didn’t seem bothered by the fact that he was shot, we could see the wolfsbane bullet doing its job, but he seemed like he wasn’t affected much, he fought with so much Vigor”.
Peter slammed his fist down on his desk, causing a lamp to rattle. “I don’t care about rumors,” he spat. “I told you to take care of this problem. And yet here we are, with no certainty about whether or not he’s dead. Do you have any idea how much I’ve invested in this? Do you think this is a mere child’s play? Killing Zech is very important to me, now he knows he will come for revenge”.
The assassin shifted uncomfortably. “I understand, sir. But we did everything we could. We followed your instructions just like you told us. We used the silver bullet, just like you said. We even did reconnaissance on Zech’s movements and tried to catch him off guard. But he’s a slippery one. He always seems to be one step ahead of us, it seemed like he lured us into the woods”
Peter glared at the assassin, his mind racing. He knew that Zech was a dangerous man, one who was able to hide his tracks for so long. But he had thought the silver bullet laced with yellow wolfsbane would be enough to take him down.
Now he was left with more questions than answers, no more choices, he was at his wits ends he didn’t have anymore plans up his sleeves, he knew he was no match for Zech, so he always sort out ways to kill him, this was his one and only shot but it is gone now.
He took a deep breath, trying to calm himself down. “Fine,” he said through gritted teeth. “We’ll have to come up with a new plan. I want you to keep an eye on Zech and report back to me as soon as you have any information. Unless you want to join your people on the other side, Understood”.
The assassin nodded, relief evident on his face, he thought today was his last day on earth, he was so happy, “Yes, sir. We won’t let you down.”
Peter dismissed him with a wave of his hand, then slumped into his chair, his anger still simmering. He knew that he couldn’t give up on his quest to take down Zech. He had come too far and invested too much to let him slip away now. But he also knew that he needed to be more strategic in his approach. The silver bullet might not have been enough to kill Zech, but he was determined to find a way to take him down once and for all.
He heard a sound in his study, he was now alerted he wondered who would have infiltrated his house,”who’s there?”, fear immediately engulfed him, thinking Zech was already her for revenge, but a man with a mast and a hoodie covering his body stepped out of the shadows.
“I can smell your fear,” he said as he stood in front of Peter.
“Who are you? How did you get in here?” he said, looking at the strange man, his wolf instincts kicked in “Gua…” Before he could complete his sentence the hooded man was already behind him with a knife in his neck, he choked on his words out of fear.
“I wouldn’t do that if I were you, to avoid spilling blood in your study” he said with the knife still on his neck “now relax I won’t harm you, let’s talk, shall we?” Peter nodded his head, little did he know that Peter didn’t mean what he said.
As he took a step away from him, Peter used the opportunity to fight back but he blew some substance into his nose, and Peter fell to his knees holding his neck, he felt a burning sensation in his neck.
The hooded man signs “I guess the hard way it is” he shaped his fingers and the bright blue color of his eyes changed to green, “now you will listen to me even if you don’t want to”.
He stood up and bowed his head to the hooded man, “I’m at your service master” he smirked behind his mask, “well that’s more like it”.
“I want you to find me the hybrid, I don’t really care how you do it but find it” he said and then disappeared into the shadows, Peter’s eyes were back to the Normal blue again.
But he wasn’t entirely himself, a text entered his phone, he smiled when he saw it was from Rachel, he replied to her immediately before heading to the witch’s house.
