Inside the library room inside the Temple of the Goddess Magia,
“No, he did not. It could be said to be his most fatal mistake: not asking for Goddess Magia’s blessing. But, the Goddess was still generous, granting the great king’s last wish for your arrival, Miss.” Despite the long wait, Brazam was saddened but grateful that the Queen of Witches was still willing to help the witches.
“I see. Teacher, why did Droitzon change Zlatav’s history?”
“So that none of the people there will know that the throne is not his, but the result of cheating, plundering, and destroying witches, werewolves, mermaids, and fairies.”
“Is there still contact with the remaining two groups?”
“Yes, we are still in intense communication. They still hope that the kingdom built by Lord Utzkah will return, even though he is dead.”
“Regarding the legendary prophecy about the arrival of Goddess Magia’s messenger, was there a special order from the emperor to eliminate that as well?”
“Yes, there was. That idiot ordered all prospective parents to go to the seer for a gynecological examination. This was done so that they could get a prediction about the unborn child; if it turned out that he was a potential messenger of Goddess Magia, then the baby must be killed; if not, then the rest may remain alive. Every guest who visited would be recorded in detail and reported to the Great Physician. Droitzon was afraid that Lord Utzkah’s words really happened.”
Alexa’s expression turned tense. Now, she could understand why her parents preferred to dump their flesh and blood in orphanages because they did not want to kill their own children. Suddenly, the feeling of longing for her biological parents surfaced unbidden. The black-robed man who could know the hearts of students became silent.
“Alexa, do you remember your parents?” asked the silver-haired man.
The virgin spontaneously nodded, not hiding what was hidden in her heart. “Yes, Master, I always think of them. I would love to hug Mom and Dad.”
Brazam saw that the other person could not bear to cry, so he could not help himself. Suddenly, a soft voice in the High Priest’s right ear said, “Ask my messenger if she still remembers the message about Lavena and Tristian, her biological parents.”
Brazam nodded once, but Alexa did not realize it because she was sad.
“Alexa, our Goddess, told me that you had a dream about meeting the Goddess Magia. Did she ever say anything about your parents?” asked the man who had long led the witches.
Alexa pulled back her memory to eight years ago. However, it was all for naught, having forgotten everything the Moon Goddes had said about her biological parents. The intelligent girl became annoyed and curious, knowing that if the teacher asked such a question, there must be some hidden meaning.
I did have a dream like the one asked by the teacher, but the words spoken by our Goddess instead. Should I use a forgotten memory retrieval spell? How about this? Alexa thought anxiously.
The young girl did not answer, prompting the blue-eyed man to ask an additional question, “Do you want Mom and Dad to live or vice versa?”
“I want them to live. For some reason, my heart believes that Mom and Dad did not want to throw them into an institution, but they had to. We could not live a normal family life because of that prophecy. I am sorry, teacher, because I do not remember what Goddess Magia said about them.” Alexa answered Brazam’s two questions and was sorry for failing to remember the Goddess of Witchcraft’s message.
The one-hundred-and-eighty-three-year-old man smiled and felt amazed by the young girl’s thinking.
Alexa is really wise. Since childhood, this girl did not know her parents, was always shunned by her peers in the orphanage, and felt lonely, but she still remembered her biological parents. She did not even blame them. The Chosen One really is a good daughter, Brazam muttered, lest the opposite sex hear what he was thinking.
The atmosphere in the library became quiet, as there was no more conversation between Brazam and Alexa. The one-hundred-and-eighty-centimeter-tall girl held back the emotional turmoil in her chest. The virgin remembered her friends, including some of the people who had always treated her well during her stay at the orphanage.
How are Aileen, Adaline, Samuel, and Aiden doing? Are they doing well? Do they hate me because I am the Chosen One? If I must fight Emperor Aufdzek, then my four friends, Madame Ethnia, Madame Menka, Madame Olslon, and Madame Oislon, must not be killed. They have been good to me, and I will never forget their kindness. Alexa determined firmly.
Brazam returned her attention to Alexa as she heard the Chosen One’s heart. “Miss Alexa.”
The sound of the call made the name’s owner turn to the person who had called her name. Brazam smiled at that young girl.
“I gave you a history lesson once. Now, let’s do mind control. Check Aufdzek’s mind. Do not ever call that traitor’s descendant ’emperor’ because the throne he got was not Droitzon’s. It was robbery!” Brazam said to the apprentice.
“Yes, Master,” Alexa said obediently.
The sharp-nosed girl paused for a while to calm her mind. Once she felt better, Alexa began to concentrate, then chanted, “O De Magia, orentizkh detrountzh evrtunz vleuthz!” [1]
In less than a minute, Alexa could clearly see a man in his thirties sitting on the throne. Aufdzek felt uneasy as he thought about Odessa’s death but could not find the culprit who had killed the blonde girl.
Where else to look for Alexa? We have deployed troops in all directions but have not found her yet because no one knows where she is headed. If she has entered the forbidden forest, then I dare not order the troops to go there because that would be the same as giving up one’s life. This means that the Chosen One’s parents did not kill her but made a false report, so Alexa has remained safe until now. Alexa could hear the target’s heart.
The teacher, too, watched and did not comment. The sound had stopped, but it didn’t make Alexa give up. That intelligent girl patiently waited, confident that the target would return to her thoughts.
If the assassin girl had escaped, especially since it had been eight years since we knew where she was, the kingdom’s end was near, as Lord Utzkah had predicted. I still remember my dream of meeting the red-eyed man. He was pleased, knowing that the fulfillment of the curse was just around the corner. Damn it! This situation can’t be happening! The same voice was heard again.
A smile spread across Brazam Gaelith’s face. The black-robed man was thrilled because the target had sensed fear, especially since Aufdzek’s troops could not find where Alexa was. They were afraid to go to the forbidden forest.
Soon, we will take over the land that has always belonged to our ancestors. You and all the wicked people of Zlatav must perish from our country! The High Priest determined firmly.
