Chapter 38. Mom? Dad?

Book:Alexa The Dark Witch Published:2024-8-20

A few hours later, in Alexa’s room,
A chestnut-brown-haired girl was lying on the bed, looking up at the ceiling, which was invisible, as the only light came from a candle that was only a quarter full. It was so quiet inside the orphanage that even the slightest sound could be clearly heard.
After ten minutes of silence, Alexa was reminded of the parents she had never met, and it was all thanks to the silence. “I want to meet Mom and Dad. Are my parents still alive? Where are they now? Did they ever miss me?” murmured Alexa, holding back a deep sadness.
“If only I could find out what Mom and Dad are up to… but that is impossible. I want to see my parents face. I miss them so much.” That young lady began to cry, but not too loudly. After she was done crying, Alexa wiped away the tears that were still on her cheeks as she tried to compose herself.
“I wish I could meet my parents, even if only in my dream. I wonder what they are doing? Are Mom and Dad happy that they dumped me? I want to hug them tightly and beg any goddess to reunite us someday.” Just as Alexa finished saying her wishes, drowsiness set in, so the young lady had to go to bed. Meanwhile, the candlelight grew smaller and smaller, and soon the room was completely dark.
In the midst of the darkness, a woman with three faces, three heads, and three pairs of hands appeared. She stood floating on Alexa’s stomach, and the distance between them was about one meter so as not to hurt the girl. “Apparently, my messenger has missed Tristian and Lavena. If I bring them together now, would it be right to do? They have long felt the same way as Alexa. If they meet in a dream, it might be able to heal the wishes of the three of them.”

Thirty minutes later
“Where am I now?” Alexa muttered as she looked around.
The place she was in did indeed seem very unfamiliar, never even visited before, so the slender girl frowned. The granddaughter of Sir Elmer Louis Writh and Madame Phoenix Lily Katira did not dare to take a step in any direction yet, as she was still watching the atmosphere warily. “I rarely have dreams, but when I do, you can be sure that something is going to happen. Hopefully, my current dream is great and has a good meaning,” Alexa hoped.
“I miss Alexa so much, Hubby. How’s she doing now?”
The name’s owner was stunned because he heard a woman’s voice saying her name openly. Alexa tried to find the source of the voice, but the place was so large, with so many doors, that the virgin didn’t know where to start. “How did she know about me? Who was she?”
In the midst of her confusion, a Messenger of Goddess Magia heard another voice, which instantly made the virgin stay where she was. “I know that, but we can’t go there right now to visit because things are not looking good for us in the palace, Wifey.”
“What do you mean, Hubby? Does the palace already know about our daughter? Wouldn’t anyone dare to divulge that secret at all?”
The tall young lady turned back to the surroundings. However, there was no sign of anyone else there. That girl’s heart was beating fast as she heard the words ‘our daughter’ in the conversation of a couple who were nowhere to be found. The curiosity in Alexa’s heart grew, so she started to speak up a little more loudly. “Mom? Dad?”
There was no answer to the voices she had heard. Instead, Alexa overheard another conversation, which made her curiosity and confusion even more unbearable. “I heard rumours that the palace is beginning to suspect that the Chosen One has been born into the world. There was a fortune teller who said so. I do not know how it happened, and of course, the news has been debunked by Madame Lizhard, but still the Emperor is worried. I can’t take you to the orphanage since I got the bad news from Dad.”
Suddenly, the smart lady remembered the dialogue she had had with her new friend earlier that afternoon when they met in the library. Alexa shook her head, but the couple’s conversation seemed to have stopped, as there was no sound from the woman’s side. Amidst the silence, the virgin thought again about the possibility that she and Aiden were witches.
“Is it true that what Mom and Dad said has something to do with Zlatav’s history? Who is it that they call the Chosen One? I am still confused because The Top Secret Book that was obtained in the library was taken by Aiden. This situation is really confusing.” Alexa said in a low voice.
There was the sound of heart-wrenching crying, which made the hazel-eyed girl tear up. Alexa looked around again, desperate to meet the woman who had first mentioned her name, but she didn’t know where to start because there were so many rooms with closed doors that it would be impossible for her to open one by one the doors there. After all, it would definitely take a very long time.
“Mom, it is me, Alexa. I am here. Please do not cry,” pleaded the poor girl. She cried, too, unable to do anything about it.
“Wifey, you have to be strong. I did not want this to happen either, but no matter what, we have to keep ourselves and our families safe. I am sure that Goddess Magia will reunite us with our daughter someday.” The male voice came back and seemed to be trying to calm down his spouse, who seemed to be mourning the death of someone.
“Twelve years have passed, and I still can’t hug my own daughter. This condition is so unfair! Why did Goddess Magia have to choose our kid? Why did she not choose a child from another family so Alexa could always be with us? How much longer do we have to wait?” The green-eyed woman asked in a rather high tone, irritated by all the bad events she had experienced for so long. The girl they had been talking about was clueless. Alexa still did not understand what her parents were talking about, so she could only listen to the conversation while still crying.
“As for why Goddess Magia chose our child, then I really do not know about it, Wifey. Only that immortal goddess knows the real reason. I am just as frustrated as you are, dear. No normal family would want to experience this.” The red-haired man replied in a gentle tone as if he understood his wife’s unstable mental state.
“I was really unwilling because our lovely could have been bullied or other bad things in the orphanage. I often have dreams of a girl crying and asking for help. She also often says, ‘Mom, Dad. Where are you? I need you.’ I feel so guilty.” Lavena sobbed even more, remembering the same dreams she had almost every night. Tristian could not say anything else while their daughter, who was in the same location, only they were in different areas, continued to cry. Alexa could not wait to meet her parents and hugged them both tightly.
“Honey, I am worried too, but we can’t do much right now. Every time we want to visit our princess, some event must thwart that intention. At that time, I thought it was not the right time for us. We can only pray that Goddess Magia will make it easy so that we can meet her the following year.” The tall man said while hugging the body of his life partner. A woman who loved nature was still crying, even though she heard everything her dear husband said.
“Why am I still unable to see Mom and Dad? Who is Goddess Magia? I still do not understand. So my parents had to throw me into an orphanage for something? Why does everything seem so complicated? I still do not know what was happening with my parent’s situation.” The one hundred-and seventy-centimetre-tall young lady said to herself, then began to wipe away the tears on both cheeks. Meanwhile, Tristian and Lavena released each other’s embrace and looked at each other.
“I hope Goddess Magia does not take too long to give an answer. I miss Alexa so much. She must hate us for making her suffer in the orphanage.” The curly-haired woman could not help but feel sad. However, the opposite sex shook her head.
“I do not think so, Wifey. We have to explain what happened so she can understand. You and I never expected anything bad, so what we have been through was beyond our imagination.” Tristian was sure that his daughter would understand because what they had been through was very hard, and it was not easy to go through it all. Lavena was still shedding tears, although not as sad as at the beginning. The sharp-nosed woman said nothing, which made Alexa frown, wanting to hear more of their conversation.
When Alexa tried to walk to the left, her steps had to stop immediately because a blinding light appeared suddenly in front of her. The virgin did not know who was coming because the light was so bright that it blocked her view and made it difficult for the girl. “It is time for you to get out of here, Alexa.”
