Gia took slow steps towards the bed. But before she could walk halfway across the room, Olive’s eyes flung open and she sat up immediately. Her eyes met with Gia’s and they widened. Who was the lady and why was she staring at her like that?
“Who are you?” Olive asked cautiously as she slowly moved the blanket from her body. Gia’s face turned into a frown.
“I should be asking you who you are. And what in the world are you doing in my Wayne’s bed?”
Olive was surprised. Her Wayne? She couldn’t see the lady’s face clearly, because she was in the darker part of the room. Only the light beside the bed was turned on. And it was a low amber.
“Your Wayne?” Olive asked, disbelief laid in her voice.
“Oh!” Gia’s voice lit up.
“You must be the latest he added to his harem! That Wayne…he says he loves me but he keeps sleeping with other women. But I’m disappointed. He said I’m the only one worthy of sleeping in his bed, yet another slut of his is right here in my position,” Gia huffed and frowned.
Olive’s eyes widened and her heart stung as if a bee had gifted it a dose of pain. So, Wayne slept around? That hurt more than she expected. And this lady right here was the one he loved. She heaved a sigh. She always knew the Alpha didn’t particularly desire her. She was only in his room because she was his mate. But she wanted to be more than his mate. She wanted him to love her.
She gently stepped out of the bed and arranged the place she had laid.
“Why don’t you come lie down then? I suppose you are here to spend the night with him, right?” she asked.
The vibe she got from this strange lady was the same she got from Cynthia. So she couldn’t help but be defensive of herself and be rude too. Also, it didn’t matter that he had other women. She was his mate and only she was authorized to sleep in his bed. But she would taunt the lady and see.
“Sleep where a harlot just slept? Over my dead body. I’ll tell Wayne to get this bed changed first thing tomorrow morning. I can’t afford to get skin disease,” Gia rolled her eyes. Olive moved closer and all the sleep in her eyes earlier cleared off. She could recognize the voice, and the face was looking familiar. Where had she seen this lady?
“I’m not a harlot. I’m his mate. I’ve been in this room almost all day, unlike you who sneak in only at night,” Olive threw at her and Gia’s anger rose at this girl. She had guts, and she hated that.
“Mate? Please…everyone knows his mate died years ago. He loves me now, that’s why he wants me to be his second chance mate. So run off to wherever you came from. This pack is not for you.”
Olive gulped at this new piece of information. He once had a mate? Then what was she? Could it be that he was lying to her? But why? She felt this bond too. Wayne was the first person ever that her wolf acknowledged in her life. Her wolf acknowledged him as her mate!
“Good night, slut. Don’t bother telling Wayne I came by…because he would act rashly at you. I’m sure he didn’t want you to find out he wasn’t your mate but keeping you hostage in disguise. So, just keep playing along untill you plan your escape. Bye,” and she glanced at Olive up and down, scrutinizing her before turning around to leave the room.
“Just pray I don’t fling a knife into that back of yours as you’re walking away from me, miss second chance mate,” Olive growled. Gia froze few steps to the door. She turned around and glared at Olive who had a deathly look on her face.
“Do you know how to even throw a knife?” she asked with mockery.
Olive smirked and held her hand behind her back like she had a weapon there.
“Why don’t you turn around let’s find out?”
Gia felt her knees buckle. She took two steps backwards, then halted. Olive still looked like she would truly throw something at her. So Gia walked backwards until she reached the door and exited that way.
Olive stumbled back and sat at the edge of the bed. What the strange lady said had made sense. Maybe the Big Bad Alpha was keeping her with him as a hostage. He must have placed a sort of spell on her, to make her think she was his mate. After all, rumours had it that he could control dark magic. Was that what he was doing to her? Wayne must have terrible plans for her. He still wanted to take his revenge. Or use her as a tool. A weapon. Again.
Her heart thudded loudly. She felt pain and fear. She had thought she would live as his mate, loved by him all her life. But…she had over-thought things. However, she decided to ask a few questions around first. Especially Dolly and Jericho. She would ask about his mate wisely.
Olive got on her feet and walked to the side of the bed she had laid earlier. She was about to pull the blanket away when the door opened and Alpha Knight stepped in.
“Olive? Why are you awake?” he asked sounding surprised but having a knowing look on his face.
“I…I just…” she trailed off, remembering the lady had advised her not to let him know she came.
“Someone woke you up,” he scoffed and walked towards her.
“No…I just woke up abruptly,” she stuttered.
“Gia was here. Her smell is all over my quarters,” he said, more to himself than to her. Olive’s heart tightened. He knew her name, and he didn’t look surprise that she was there.
“Yes, she was here,” Olive said firmly.
“What did she say to you?” Wayne asked. He didn’t trust that woman much, but he didn’t expect her to sneak into his quarters.
“We…nothing. We didn’t say anything to each other. She came looking for you. That’s all,” Olive shrugged and removed the blanket from that side of the bed. She laid down, covered herself then closed her eyes.
Wayne stood there with a frown on his face. He noticed how Gia was acting weird earlier. Like she was up to something. It had to do with him, and he wondered what it was. However, he didn’t have time to worry over that earlier so he shoved it off. But entering his quarters and smelling only her, he knew that lady was up to something for real. Why would she come looking for him in his quarters when she had just left his place? Or what had she really come looking for?
As Olive’s eyes were shut, she tried hard to remember who that lady was. The name Gia, that stern face and aura. Where had she met her?
Suddenly, the image popped into her mind. The Chief Female Army Commander who walked up to them earlier in the receiving hall of the castle. The lady who had firmly asked Wayne about who she was. Wayne hadn’t answered Gia and he didn’t answer her when she kept asking too. He only told her when they were already in the car.
Olive remembered the scrutinizing looks of Gia earlier in the day. She finally realized well enough that Alpha Knight was in a secret relationship with Lady Gia. Everything she had thought of fully pointed to that.
