Alpha Knight heaved a deep sigh and rubbed his index and middle finger on his forehead.
“Nothing happened, Jake,” he repeated and crossed his arms, staring into space.
“What do you mean nothing happened?” Jake asked, still not believing him.
“It was like a normal river. Nothing was weird. Except of course, it’s ice cold nature. Olive actually took a long swim with me and she was fine. She’s still fine, sleeping peacefully in my bed,” Wayne explained. Jake was not satisfied but he decided to calm down.
“All right. We would have to ask Mufasa though. On why it didn’t affect her.”
Right then, Dolly won and everyone shouted out and jumped.
“Oh shit!” Terry cussed as he banged his head on the table and others laughed.
“I guess I’ve got a messenger for the next four days!” Dolly squealed with her hands in the air. Terry glared at her and the others laughed. Jake was smiling.
“Congrats, Dolly. Now how about something to celebrate?” he asked.
“Yes, Terry. Get us Chinese food from downtown. And be fast,” Dolly ordered and everyone laughed again. Terry glared at her and got on his feet.
“And it’s always food I’m sent to buy,” he complained as Dolly counted some money for him.
“Oh don’t worry, Dolly’s going to make you do an awful lot of things other than buying food,” Shem, a pretty teenage boy having a striking resemblance with Wayne spoke up. He was the one Vanessa had pulled his hair.
“Shut up, Shem,” Terry nagged and Vanessa pushed his head with her index finger.
“Stop it sis, stop bullying me!” Shem complained and stood up from the floor.
“Just go back already. Let this castle be peaceful for once again,” he added as he sat on the couch. Vanessa was going to attack him but Dolly drew her back.
“Let the kid be. Terry, why are you still here?”
Terry was about to move to the door when Alpha Knight’s private elevator arrived. Everyone else looked at it, expecting Olive to step out because she was the only one not present in the cabinet.
However, Shem and his sister, Vanessa were shocked that the elevator was moving up. They knew that only Wayne made use of it, and in some cases, Jake and the men. But they were all present, who was using his elevator?
The next second, the elevator opened and everyone gasped.
Gia Kalif?
Alpha Knight’s jaw clenched. He didn’t like this woman, she was too daring and too proud. And she using his elevator was a primordial threat to his authority and position. In the wolf world, you do not just trespass an Alpha’s property like you own it
Gia’s eyes ran around everyone in the room until she saw the Alpha. She stepped out and swung her long hair to the side. Her eyes gazed at him again and she loved the look of him. In that tight t-shirt of his that showed the contour of his tantalizing body. He looked extremely handsome wearing that headband.
“Good evening,” she greeted no one in particular. Everyone was gawking at her outfit. A white miniskirt and a pink crop top sweater. She wore white sneakers and a golden anklet. When did Gia ever dress so casually? She was always dressed like a sophisticated lady as she portrayed herself.
“To what do we owe this visit, Chief Female Army Commander?” Jake asked in a formal tone. She chuckled and crossed her arms gently.
“Nothing. I was just bored and decided to take a stroll. I ended up coming to the castle instead,” she answered casually and took slow steps forward.
Everyone was agitated. They all didn’t feel free with this woman. She always had a way to scrutinize and downgrade everyone, even the Alpha. But Wayne never paid attention to her. To him, she was just an attention seeker. And he decided not to give her that attention, which was one thing that made her despise him. He never considered her except when he needed her lady soldiers.
Gia glanced across everyone and almost smirked happily when she didn’t sight his mate. She could do whatever she wanted already.
“Am I not welcome here?” she asked after no one welcomed her or showed any reaction to her being there in The Circular Cabinet.
“I thought you said you didn’t want to step foot ever into the Circular Cabinet?” it was Shem who asked. Gia’s face turned into a slight frown. Yes, she had said that.
“You said this place was ‘just an excuse for us to act like toddlers in grown-up bodies and let go of our responsible adult brains in order to showcase stupid exuberance’. Why are you now here?” Shem stated and everyone looked at him, wondering why he memorized everything she said that day. Gia scoffed and brought her hands down. She didn’t know how to answer that and she didn’t want to look defeated either.
“Have a drink, Gia,” Alpha Knight spoke up and everyone looked at him next. It was like they were robots, programmed to be glancing at anyone who spoke.
Wayne was pouring out a drink into a new glass. Gia smiled and gave the guys a glare before walking to the bar…majestically. Vanessa rolled her eyes.
“Miss Perfecta,” she whispered under her breath but she knew Gia would hear. Not like she cared.
Terry who had been standing away from the guys finally moved through the door to get the Chinese food. The rest of them kept looking at Wayne as he shared a drink with Gia in silence. Jake left them and sat on the couch.
“Aren’t you guys staring a little too much?” he communicated to them telepathically.
“Look at her smiling stupidly. She looks stupid when she smiles,” Vanessa mocked.
“What is she doing here? And to think she came here in the Alpha’s elevator,” Jericho spoke up, still through their mind links.
Physically, they were quietly looking at the Alpha and the Chief Female Army Commander. But inwardly, they were mocking the hell out of her.
“Why is she trying to rub hands against him? Did anyone notice that apart from me?” Dolly asked, totally surprised.
“She’s flirting with him!” Vanessa yelled.
As in on cue about what the others were doing, Gia looked at their direction with a frown.
“What’s with the looks? Weren’t you doing something before I arrived?” Gia asked. She knew they were communicating, but these people were highly trained comrades to the Alpha. No one whom they didn’t want in their minds could enter. Therefore, she couldn’t listen to whatever they were saying. Their outward silence was killing her. And their eyes were boring holes into her. How could she do what she wanted to do here if they wouldn’t even look away from her?
“Your presence made us dummies,” Shem joked and they burst into laughter. Even Jake laughed.
Gia felt embarrassed and glanced at the Alpha to stop them from laughing because she knew he hated noise and disturbance. But to her dismay, even the Alpha had a smirk on his face.
She heaved a sigh and looked away from all of them. But thankfully, they all relaxed and began to talk cheerfully amongst themselves again. She thought they had listened to her, but didn’t know it was Jake who asked them to let her be free and go back to their former state.
Wayne was operating his phone now as he leaned fairly against the bar’s high chairs. She heaved a sigh and moved a bit closer to him.
“Alpha,” she called in a quiet voice. He looked at her by lifting his eyes only.
“I was thinking…would you be free tomorrow night? I’d like to invite you for dinner with my father and I. At my place,” she said in a flirty, drawy voice. Her plan was to seduce him after the dinner, have a one night stand with him and make sure it is a night he never forgets. From then on, she would continue to seduce him until he finally gave in to her. She knew the Alpha had a harem of women. He could never be the loyal type, so it would be easy to snatch him from his so-called mate.
