“You’re scary,” Olive muttered and bit her lower lip. Wayne’s heart stopped beating as he stared at her lips. She pouted them and he shifted uncomfortably in his seat.
“Whatever you do, let me live. Please,” she pleaded.
“You would. Don’t worry,” he replied dryly. She nodded nervously and looked down at her plate. She needed to eat. She was starving. So, she ate as much as she could. It was a silent meal, with her not even looking up at him once. That however, gave him enough opportunity to stare at her face. He just couldn’t help it. She was calling unto him and he wanted to answer that call. He wanted to hug her tight and just rest in her arms. But she was too scared of him, and he wasn’t even helping matters. He was trying to show he was cold towards her. That he didn’t really care. But he didn’t know how much he could last with that facade.
He finished his meal and got on his feet after gulping down from his wine glass.
“Stay here. Don’t try going out. If you’re caught, you might have a taste of Balendin unique skin whips. They’re very special,” he said and smirked then walked out. Olive watched him as he walked away from her, and wondered why he was comfortable with his mate getting whipped. Or did she not hear that males hate it when their females get hurt, or vice versa. She was scared, but she had to play it cool.
“The one Cynthia used on me, was it from Balendin?” she asked and looked up at him with rage filled eyes. He looked back at her but didn’t answer immediately. He remembered how angry he was when he saw her battered skin. How he wanted to do the same to Cynthia.
“Answer me, Alpha Knight,” she demanded. He could see her eyes being lined with red veins. She was also tearing up with anger and pain.
“Yes. It was from Balendin,” he answered. She gave a sad chuckle and nodded. She had lost all appetite after remembering the pain she went through. The anger she held against Cynthia was severe. She dropped her cutlery from her hands and got up to go.
“And where is she going?” he asked but she totally ignored him and walked away from the table. She could feel his eyes boring into the back of her head as she walked, and the temperature of the room was decreasing by each step she took that she suddenly felt like she was walking barefoot on ice. She however didn’t stop walking towards the bathroom where she intended to lock herself up and let her anger surge through her. The Vrek Cult, Cynthia, The BBA, she would kill them all!
But-whoosh!
The Big Bad Alpha had sped in one second, from the dining chair which was about seven metres away and grabbed her hand. He spinned her and grabbed her neck tightly making her wince. His eyes had darkened and his hair was flying around like they wanted to scamper away. Olive was struck with horror and she shut her eyes.
“Please,” she pleaded as she held his hand which was pinned on her neck. She was helpless, not because she didn’t know how to beat him out from strangling her. But because he had a dark power that weakened her, and any other person who was in that position. There was a reason he was referred to as Bad, right?
“Alpha… please… let me… go,” she pleaded more as her breath was slowly leaving her. But it wasn’t working. Wayne was angry. But why?
“Never-walk-out-on-me-ever!!” he growled and threw her to the bed with so much force that she bounced against it and hit her head against the headboard. She stayed still, unconscious and bleeding from her right eyebrow. It took complete sixty seconds for Wayne to understand what actually happened. He had lost control again, but this time on the wrong person. His breath got blocked in his tubes and he took a step back as the scent of fresh blood wafted through the air. He blinked his eyes repeatedly.
“Mate,” he heard his wolf whisper. Immediately, he sped to her and picked her up. He placed her on his thighs and watched the blood flowing down and staining the hoodie. He felt his heart twitch. Once again, she was bleeding. Once again, she was unconscious in his arms. And once again, she had been extremely scared of him.
He closed his eyes and hated himself for hurting his mate. So, he laid her gently on the bed and brought over his first aid kit. He cleaned the cut over her eyebrow and disinfected it. It would be healed in less than an hour so he didn’t bother to put a bandaid. After he finished, he bent over by the bedside and stared at her face. He could feel that that face was a depressed one. He knew she had gone through a lot. He knew what The Vrek Cult was like and he didn’t like that Olive grew up with them. Wayne gently arranged all the stray strands of hair from her face and let her be.
He grabbed his jacket and walked out of the door. He had to clear his head. After stepping out of his elevator, four men with black suits and dark shades immediately ran to him and walked beside him. He didn’t even act like they were there. He just walked ahead and out of the pack castle. He beeped his car which was parked in front of the building and the doors opened. One of the men sat at the driver’s seat and another at the passenger seat, while the rest entered another car behind. Wayne himself had sat at the back and was resting his head back with his eyes shut. He was worried, but didn’t know why.
“Valor House,” he ordered in a sleepy kind of voice and the car started. Throughout the drive, he didn’t open his eyes once. He didn’t want to because all he could see was Olive. He suddenly felt like going back to her and watch her sleep instead of running off to Valor House. But, he had to get away from her and get his head straight.
