Epilogue

Book:The Alpha Slayer's Redemption Published:2024-8-20

“Behold to the newlyweds, Duke Valerian Leveaux and Duchess Dominixe Lilith Cantavalle-Leaveux!”
The words from High Priest Redgrave kept echoing in my head like a broken record.
I was smiling from ear to ear, looking at the purple sapphire wedding ring Valerian bestowed to me on the day we married each other eight years ago. Now I had three rings on my ring finger on my left hand in my care.
The promise metal ring, amethyst engagement ring, and purple sapphire wedding ring…
They fit perfectly on my ring finger.
Valerian really made sure that the engagement ring and wedding ring gemstones’ color was purple. He was really considerate of my favorite color.
I chuckled before looking up and gasped. “Demetrius, darling, fix your posture when you are holding your sword.” I immediately approached Valerian and I’s seven-year-old son, Demetrius.
“Like this, Mother?” Demetrius asked as he fixed his posture by relaxing his shoulders.
“Yes, that’s right, darling.” I nodded in approval.
Demetrius’ face gleamed, feeling motivated as he started his training under my supervision. I was the one who taught him his sword training and how to fight, while Valerian was the one handling the successorship training for our first son, Demetrius Onyx Leveaux, as the next Alpha of the Nocturnal Crest pack and the next head of the House of Leveaux.
Yes, Demetrius Onyx. We named him the same name as our son, who we met from another timeline.
Even though on the other timeline, Demetrius was named by my older sister, Rachelle, in this timeline, Valerian and I decided to keep Demetrius as our firstborn son.
After our training in the forest depths, Demetrius couldn’t stop talking while we held our hands.
“I am going to master swordsmanship, and I am going to be the best swordsman all over the Yuanzhong Kingdom!” Demetrius said, oozing some confidence. He even raised his fist, chirping. “Mother, will you also teach me more about Cantavalle’s fighting style?”
I was surprised at the question he asked me. I knew this wasn’t supposed to be shocking since he knew my fighting style was different from his father’s.
It was… more dangerous and fatal. Demetrius was trying to copy it once, but he only knew the high kick that would hit the opponent’s throat. Not only that, it must be used with some claws to lacerate someone’s neck.
“I am not going to do the history, Mother. I will follow Uncle Ingram’s words. I will protect other people using it.”
I stared at him, wanting to halt him, but it was impossible since Demetrius was well aware of the dark past of the House of Cantavalle, which still existed today since Henry spared my other siblings who helped me to finish Papa’s legacy.
All of them, except Arthur, Britanny, and Caroline. They were punished severely and met their deaths.
Ingram became the head of the House of Cantavalle, and the rest of my siblings who were still alive had parted ways to find their purpose and to avoid the prying eyes of the public.
“Um… As long as you will not use it to hurt others, then I can teach you,” I said, stroking my chin.
It was good that Ingram was advising my son that this technique must be used to protect others, not harm.
“Yay! I shall tell Father about it!” Demetrius jumped for joy.
Oh, shit! I must inform Valerian before Demetrius should do it. I needed to open it up since Valerian might disagree with learning Cantavalle’s fighting style.
“Luna Dominixe! Lord Demetrius!”
I turned my head when the pups of Demetrius’ age called us to play in the playground. They were waving their hands at us as we waved back.
“Mother, can I play with them? Pretty please!” Demetrius fluttered his eyelids, even clasping his hands together.
Cackling, I nodded and caressed his hair. “Silly child. Go and return before 6 PM, alright? Or else you will never hear the ends of your father.” I winked at him, remembering that Valerian was quite strict with time.
Demetrius frowned, but he nodded, beaming. “I will!” He kept jumping to reach my face. I lowered my head so he could kiss me on the cheek. “Bye, Mother!”
“Enjoy…” I waved my hand at him as he sprinted towards them. “… my baby boy.” I sighed, feeling nostalgic since he was already growing up so fast.
He was only just a baby pup, and now, he was near to be a young adult soon…
“Time surely flies, Dominixe…” I muttered, smiling before returning to the Cantavalle mansion as I greeted all of our pack members.
I was glad that Valerian’s pack members accepted me as the Luna of the Nocturnal Crest pack. I changed their perspective and earned their trust since I came from a family of Alpha slayers.
My past dictated that I was a threat to them, but earning their trust took a lot of effort. I was prepared for the ridiculed stares before and now since I understood that they were being wary of me, thinking that I might betray their Alpha one day, which that was not going to happen.
As for Papa… He was sentenced to death by beheading him in front of the city folks. Everyone witnessed his death, and his soul that was transferred to the celestial realm was suffering more under the hands of Mother.
“Girls! We shall take a bath now! Please!”
I came to a halt in my steps upon hearing Valerian’s voice coming from the backyard. Before I could go there, I was tended by Louise, who was the head servant of the House of Leveaux.
“Greetings, Luna Dominixe.”
I nodded, acknowledging his greeting. “Is Valerian in the backyard with them?” I asked when I bestowed the wooden sword to him after he helped me wash my hands with a basin on his hands.
Louise bowed. “Yes, Luna. Alpha is dealing with some… matters,” he said meaningfully, smiling gently.
I chuckled, understanding it immediately. “Very well. I shall handle it. He might want to be thrown in the asylum if I did not take care of it,” I said. “Prepare for their baths as well as for Valerian.”
“Understood, Luna.”
I took a stride towards the backyard as I heard some giggles.
There, I saw four little girls, aged five years old, happily jumping and leaping in the mud, not minding that their dresses were covered with wet soil that looked like some chocolate smudged to their clothing.
I crossed my arms, arching my eyebrow when my eyes landed on Valerian, who was trying to stop them from being so gleeful in the mud.
“Come on, Valerie, Veronique, Virginia, Vermilia…” he said, mentioning the four little girls’ names. “Your mother is going to kill me if she sees your dresses soiled like that,” Valerian said in distress, combing his raven black hair, not minding if he was covered with mud. “Sweethearts, please?”
“Nope!” the four little girls said in unison. “We don’t like it!”
Valerian groaned, looking like he wanted to pass out. I only smirked, enjoying that Valerian was experiencing what I experienced with these four cheeky girls.
“Valerie, sweetie, enough that.” He was talking about the chestnut wavy shoulder-haired girl with Valerian’s face structure and eye color, and my lips, who was sitting on the mud.
Then Valerian turned to the girl with raven black straight waist hair length who had my face structure and eye color, cognac. “Veronique, your face… Oh, dear Moon Goddess…” He used his handkerchief, already stained with mud, but he groaned when Veronique wiped some mud on his face. “Veronique…”
She giggled. “You need some facial skin care, Father.”
Valerie agreed and scooped mud in her tiny hand, wiping it on their father’s cheek. “Now, you must take a bath, too, Father.” She giggled.
I almost chuckled when Valerian looked like he wanted to explode, but he couldn’t. “I shall do that once you four have taken a bath.” He turned his attention on the little girl with minimal black wavy mid-waist hair, with Valerian’s face structure and my eye color, cognac, who was picking some hyacinth flowers. Valerian gasped in horror. “Oh, no, no, Vermilia, sweetie. That is your mother’s favorite flower…”
Vermilia inserted the flower behind Valerian’s ear. “You are now beautiful, Father.” She cackled.
Valerian was about to say something when he gasped as soon as the last little girl had jet black short hair, my face structure, and Valerian’s eye color, chartreuse, who was giggling, rolling in the mud.
“Fuck! Virginia, get up there!” He picked up Virginia, who was giggling, seeing her father in distress.
“Fuck…” She copied Valerian’s cussing word, causing him to drop his jaw.
“Sweetie, no. Please. Do not let your mother hear that… I still want to live…” He smiled wryly.
“Fuck,” Virginia said again, making Valerian groan more.
“Oh, no…” His face looked pale when Virginia recited that word again, making me want to explode in my ground.
However, I bit my lower lip, seeing how Valerian couldn’t tame our four daughters-our quadruplets.
Yes, our quadruplets. Even I couldn’t believe that I had carried those four mischievous girls in my uterus for a three-month gestation period.
When Valerian learned that, he couldn’t contain his joy and bragged about how his cock held some ability to impregnate up to four pups in one gestation period.
I rolled my eyes when he said that. But I would ensure he would be stressed for the rest of his life, trying to protect our girls from their mates.
Also, as promised, we named one of our daughters Valerie. The other names, like Veronique, Virginia, and Vermilia, were those Valerian and I thought of when we thought of having a name for our future daughter.
“Looks like I have to step in…” I whispered when Valerian didn’t know what to do anymore. I inhaled and exhaled to gather some strength.
I would certainly tease my honeydew later.
“Valerie Jade Leveaux! Veronique Pearl Leveaux! Virginia Ruby Leveaux! Vermilia Sapphire Leveaux!”
Everyone, including Valerian, turned their heads in my direction as soon as I called their full names. Valerian gulped as soon as he saw my arching eyebrow, knowing he would sleep in the drawing room later.
“Mother!”
I got distracted when my four daughters ran in my direction. I chuckled and opened my arms to have them, adoring their giggles even if they had dirtied themselves.
“Look at the four of you!” I tapped their noses, but they only giggled one more time. “Let’s get you four to take a bath.”
“Mother, look! Father needs it, too!” Veronique said with a little sheepish grin.
I smiled sweetly. “Indeed.” I gently wiped the mud off their faces. “Off you go, then. Summon your nannies to help you four to take a bath. Alright?”
Before they answered, they approached me, and each of them rubbed their nose against mine. It felt delighted that they were adapting this kind of affection I used to do to Valerian.
Now, I was doing it with our pups.
“Yes, Mother!” they said in unison before sprinting towards the mansion.
“The ones who will not take a bath shall not be eating some sweets for supper!” I said while hearing their giggles echoing.
“Be careful when you run the hallways!” Valerian added, sighing. “Honeydew…” He opened his arms to greet me.
“Nope.” I squinted my eyes at him. “I told you to watch over them, honeydew.”
“I did…” He fluttered his eyelids, lowering his gaze to his dirtied tunic. “Well… It wasn’t part of my plans to play in the mud, eh.” He grinned.
I almost laughed at his response and tiptoed to kiss his luscious lips. “You sound like you enjoyed it,” I said, using my finger to wipe that mud off his face before flattening his invisible creasing forehead. “That’s what you get for spoiling our daughters, honeydew.”
Valerian frowned. “They are my princesses, no. They deserve to be spoiled.”
I huffed, grinning. “Princesses, huh?” I playfully rolled my eyes. I wouldn’t be able to change his mindset for spoiling them. But it was a good thing that our four daughters were not that spoiled. Sometimes they did, using their father to get what they wanted, but I was there to supervise them. “Come on, honeydew. Let’s take you a bath as well. I am already expecting this would have happened.” I took his hand and gently dragged him inside.
I joined him in his bath, practically doing it since the mischievous Valerian would dare to pull me in the tub if I denied not wanting to join him.
“How’s our son’s training, Lilith?” Valerian asked when I was straddling him while soaping his upper body.
I halted for a moment, lowering my gaze before meeting his orbs. “He is doing great with the real sword. Also… Demetrius wants me to teach him about our fighting style.”
I opened it up before Demetrius would do it. I wanted to hear my husband’s opinion about this.
“Hmm…” Valerian hummed before snatching the soap from my hand so he could do the same. “Wouldn’t that be dangerous?” His earnest tone indicated protest.
“It wouldn’t be. As long as he uses it to protect others…” I got distracted when Valerian kept massaging my breasts, kneading them like dough. “… I am certain that… our son wouldn’t…” I moaned when he fondled my nipples. “Honeydew, please…”
Valerian grinned before washing me. “Alright… If Mother says so that our son shall not use it to harm others,” he paused and leaned on my ear in an excellent whisper. “Then, I shall trust her in it. Are you also going to teach our quadruplets, hmm?”
“Y-Yes…” I bit my lower lip, holding onto his shoulders. “W-We must hurry before our kids come here…” I said when Valerian had me turn around to keep teasing my clit. “V-Val… Oh…” I forwarded my hips to his skillful fingers.
Valerian nipped my skin, licking the back of my head, smelling my scent. “I remember that we conceived our quadruplets here in this bathroom. Perhaps, another four kids again, honeydew?”
I flinched and glared at him. “If you think giving birth is easy, we shall change our roles.” I pinched his ear.
“A-Aww! Lilith, that hurts…”
I drew him closer to me. “Mind you that you passed out so many times the moment I gave birth to Demetrius and our quadruplets, hmm, Valerian Leveaux?” I enlarged my eyes at him when he smiled wryly.
“Well…” He gulped.
I rolled my eyes, ignoring that he couldn’t utter another word. “Also, I have a feeling if we conceive another pup. It will be a girl again.” I stuck my tongue out. “Well, you have to deal with their mood swings once they reach adolescence, honeydew,” I teased.
Valerian gulped again, chuckling nervously. “I already handled your mood swings… And you are frightening to deal with…” he paused when he saw that I was glaring at him. “Well… I mean, of course, I can handle our daughters’ mood swings! I managed to handle you…” His smile was hanging, testing the waters since he knew that I was getting annoyed at him.
I smiled sweetly. “One wrong word, and you are going to sleep outside the mansion, Valerian,” I said through gritted teeth.
Valerian only frowned, but that subsided when I kissed him to initiate making love with him. He smiled under our kiss, making me the happiest woman in the world.
“Father! Father!” Demetrius rushed to our chamber before supper.
“Yes, son?” Valerian smiled and lifted our son in his arms. “How’s your training, Tri?”
“I did great!” I approached him and gently combed his wet hair from taking a bath. “Mother told me that I am improving! I cannot wait to show it to you!”
“Oh, really?”
“Hmm! Also, I am done with my studies! I can recite volume 5 of the royal ordinance, Father!”
Our jaws dropped when he said that. Valerian and I exchanged glances, delighted at this news.
“My, my!” Valerian chirped. “My son is a genius!” He twirled around, making Demetrius giggle. “I am proud of you, Demetrius! Recite it for us tomorrow.”
I softened, seeing their closeness. I couldn’t ask for more for our son. Valerian felt the same way.
I thought he would act differently when I finally admitted to him what the other Demetrius did to me, which I kept to him for a long time. Valerian was shocked when he learned that, meaning Mother did not tell that part to him.
After some time, we talked about it again, and he told me, “Well, our Demetrius is different in this timeline. Demetrius is a hardworking heir, a kind big brother to his sisters, and a lovable son to us. I am here now, alive and kicking. And you are a great mother to him as I am as his father.”
I was happy at his response at that time.
During our supper, if others thought our daughters misbehaved, they were wrong. Valerian and I took patience in teaching them that they might fall and get hurt if they kept standing and jumping on their seats.
Our pups did not have their own nannies until they reached five years of age. Valerian assigned a maidservant and a butler for our son and our four daughters. They were trained to tend to our pups whenever we were away.
“Do not run in the hallways!” Valerian shouted when our four daughters had just finished eating their dessert. “Goodness, those four…” He kept shaking his head.
I chuckled before I turned to Demetrius, who just finished his dessert. “I shall take care of them, Father.” He kissed our cheeks. “Mother, your promise, alright? Father already agreed.”
“Of course.” I gently winced at his hair. “But not tomorrow since you will visit the royal palace with your father.” I looked at Valerian since he forgot to tell our son about it.
“Oh, yes. Demetrius, you are coming with me tomorrow. His Majesty is summoning you to be Zafirah’s royal playmate.”
As soon as the mention of Zafirah, firstborn and daughter of Henry and Esther, our new Alpha King and Luna Queen of the Yuanzhong, who was the first in line for the throne, Demetrius frowned. She was six years old.
“I am her royal playmate?” His shoulders slumped. “I thought Uncle Henry was just kidding about it.”
“He is not.” Valerian laughed, drinking some water.
Demetrius crossed his arms over his chest. “But Princess Zafirah and I are not even friends. I don’t even like her, Father. Our interests do not even match.”
I almost laughed since I remembered Valerian told me that the other Demetrius did not like to be Princess Zafirah’s royal playmate when he was chosen to be one. However, I discovered our son was Her Highness’s first kiss.
“Why don’t you try to learn more about her before you even say that, darling?” I asked. “You grew together, no?”
Since we were friends of Henry, our pups met each other to play. However, Demetrius and Zafirah ended up arguing with each other.
“She hates my guts. And I hate her, too.” I bit my lower lip seeing how adorable our son was. I suddenly wanted to pinch his cheek.
“Demetrius…” Valerian brought our son to his lap. “Listen, son. You will be Princess Zafirah’s retainer once she is crowned as the Crown Princess. Even if you do not like her, you need her support, and she needs your support so you two can balance the aristocracy and commoner society. Hmm?” he said in a very gentle tone.
I observed Demetrius to see how he would react to this. “But Uncle Henry will not betroth me to her, right?”
Valerian and I exchanged glances. “Ah, yes. It is.” My eyes widened at what he said.
‘Val!’ I said through mind-link. He just lied!
Henry and Valerian already made a pact that Demetrius and Zafirah would be betrothed in the future. Why did he say that Demetrius wouldn’t be?
‘I can handle this, honeydew,’ he mind-linked back.
I almost facepalmed, but I kept my facade that everything was alright.
“Alright! That is good to hear!” Demetrius beamed and kissed our cheeks again. “I am going upstairs to oversee my sisters!”
When he was out of sight, I pinched Valerian in his flank, and he frowned at me. “What the hell is that, honeydew?” I said in a loud whisper.
He hushed me. “It’s fine. Demetrius does not need to know it yet, honeydew.” I did not say anything. “Come on.” He gently pulled me into his lap. “He’ll warm up to her soon. Trust me.”
I stared at him, seeing that confidence in his eyes. “You know that it shall be a disaster if Demetrius hurts her. It will be friendship over between you and Henry.” I clung to his neck.
“That is not going to happen. I assure you.”
I just sighed since Valerian did not want to give up. I just started to feed him since he wasn’t finished eating. “Be sure with your words, honeydew.” I had a bad feeling about this ever since they decided to think of betrothing our pups.
Valerian only smiled as we both enjoyed each other’s company while hearing some giggles and squeals from our daughters. Even Demetrius’ voice echoed through the hallway, saying he would catch his sisters if they did not hide well.
After drinking our tea, we checked our pups upstairs when everything had gone quiet. Valerian and I were worried since we felt like something was wrong.
“Do you think they knocked out Demetrius again?” I asked, feeling my heart about to explode.
Those four had tried to wrestle with their older brother. Out of nowhere, Valerie and Vermilia dropped the lamp on Demetrius, causing him to pass out. We just found out that they were painting his face while giggling at that time.
I almost lost it and almost screamed, but Valerian calmed me.
“I-I am certain that they will not do that again…” Even Valerian’s heartbeat was fast when we reached the chamber of our daughters.
Valerian was about to barge in when we heard Veronique’s voice squealing. “Really, big brother? So, she did not know that her mate was alive?”
“Huh?” We both creased our foreheads at our daughter’s question. I wondered what Demetrius was telling them.
Valerian quietly turned the doorknob to ajar the door slightly. We both saw Demetrius leaning on the headboard of Virginia’s bed while our quadruplets were facing him, lying on their stomach in their pajamas.
“Hmm! Grandma Lunaria said the lady did not know, but her mate has been watching her from afar.”
I smiled since it looked like Demetrius was telling him some tales Mother had passed on. And now, he was passing it to his sisters. Our pups were already aware that their grandmother was the Moon Goddess.
I nudged Valerian to enter now, which he did. “What tale is that, everyone? Can we join?” I asked and sat on the side of the other bed, which was the bed of Valerie.
“Mother! Father!” Our quadruplets did not hesitate to approach us and clung to us. We chuckled and kissed their foreheads.
“So, what tale is that again?” Valerian asked, letting the curiosity get the better of him.
“Brother is telling a story about The Rogue Alpha Reverses the Time!” our four daughters said in unison, which made our eyes widen in surprise, feeling shivers down our spine.
“It’s about the Lady Alpha Slayer and the Rogue Alpha, Mother!” Vermilia said excitedly.
Valerian and I looked at each other meaningfully before he draped his arm on my shoulders and kissed my forehead. We both knew about this tale Demetrius was telling his sisters right now.
It was about me, the Lady Alpha Slayer, and Valerian, the Rogue Alpha.
“Oh?” Valerian smiled from ear to ear. “Is that so?”
“Grandma Lunaria told me about it, Father,” Demetrius said, joining us in the same bed and hugging me. “She said that you two know about it. Can you please tell us?”
“I thought you already knew it?” Valerian asked, gently combing his hair.
“I want the two of you to tell it. Pretty please!” Demetrius started fluttering his eyes at us. “Veronique, Vermilia,. Valerie, Virginia, say that, too!” He urged his sisters.
“Pretty please!”
Valerian and I smiled wryly at the loud voice of our daughters, causing us to laugh. “Alright, alright.” He hushed them down when they kept pleading. “How about… Mother will tell the point of view of the Lady Alpha Slayer, and I will tell the point of view of the Rogue Alpha, right, honeydew?” He winked at me.
I bit my lower lip, understanding what he was doing. “Of course!” I beamed, causing them to celebrate. “So…” I paused when Valerian and I intertwined our hands together as we were about to relive that memory. “This is about the Lady Alpha Slayer who loves her mate so dearly…” I began telling them.
When it was Valerian’s turn, everyone turned at him. “And this is about the Rogue Alpha who still loves the Lady Alpha Slayer and prepares to go ups and downs so he can save her…” He kissed the back of my hand with a big smile plastering on his lips while looking at me lovingly. “And he is not the one who reverses the time, but the Lady Alpha Slayer did.”
My stomach somersaulted, letting our feelings be in sync, looking at each other intensely, knowing our story would become a tale.
I would be forever grateful that I was fated to this man as my mate as he forgave me for all the sins I caused him. Our mate bond became stronger than ever, and we would overcome the challenges together.
Mother… Thank you. I am happy now to be with my family Valerian and I had carefully built for all these years. I will cherish everything and feed them with my love as a wife and mother until I return to the day to be by Your side as one of the spirit goddesses.
