“Huh?” I raised my head, baffled at his words.
He hated me… Then he would say he still loved me? What did he mean?
Valerian used his forearm to cover his eyes when I saw him brimming with tears. “Did you know how broken I was when I knew you were just playing my feelings back then, Dominixe?”
“Yes…” I muttered, exhaling this smothering feeling that could almost exhaust me. “At first… I was only planning to make you believe that I was earnest back then since you asking me to live with you in your pack was a great opportunity to know your weaknesses.” I laid my head on his chest, clinging to him as if I did not want to let him go. “But as time passed, I fell into you, Valerian. I was already hesitating to give my father excuses that I needed more time-because I did not want to hurt you. You were the first person who became genuine to me and did not see me as an object.” I bit my lower lip, recalling those beautiful memories we had. “You treated me as a human. You made me blossom my feelings for you. And it was too late that you were so dear to me when you killed yourself. Furthermore, Papa was there to finish what I was supposed to do.”
I could still remember when Valerian stabbed himself with my sword. I had full of regrets when I stayed by his side, trying to save him.
My antidote was shattered when we brawled. I was full of tears while watching my beloved mate catch his breath.
That was when Papa arrived and kept using my sword to stab Valerian’s chest. I was unable to lift myself to stand up against my father.
“My, my… You have only one task, Domi. I said finish it within two hours.”
I slowly looked up to see Papa, who had arrived. “Papa…” My voice trembled.
Papa looked at me with coldness in his eyes. “Pathetic.” I stiffened at the word he said. “You cannot kill your mate, is that it? He has to kill on his own, Dominixe Lilith Cantavalle?!” I flinched, frightened that he would hurt me.
“I…” I was rendered speechless. What excuse must I say? Papa would not even listen. I opened my mouth to ask for his forgiveness, but then, I was halted when Valerian weakly raised his hand to touch my cheek. “Valerian…” I held his hand.
It pained me to see him in this condition. I had no antidote to help him ease his feeling. His chest was bleeding as well since Papa kept stabbing him.
“It’s… not… your fault…” he said in a difficult tone. He coughed blood which made me gasp as I felt horrified.
“Val…” I hugged him as I started crying.
Papa chuckled. “Sweet… Your mother and I have never been like this, Domi.” I only looked at Valerian, who was glaring at my father. “I told you before, right? You do not deserve to have an Alpha for a mate.”
I bit my lower lip, feeling hurt when Papa said those words again.
Valerian tried to growl at Papa, but his breathing became feeble. I feared that one minute would be left now before Valerian would have his last breath.
“Valerian… Don’t leave me… Do forgive me…” I sobbed as I took his hand to place it on my cheek. I started regretting what I did to his pack. I hurt my mate, and it resulted in this.
With that, I silently prayed to the Moon Goddess to heal him.
“You are the… one who controls Dominixe…” he spouted. “I am not going to forgive you…”
My eyes widened when I saw regret wash over his chartreuse-colored eyes. His eyes were darting toward me.
“Nonsense. Domi, let’s go. He will die now in less than thirty seconds.”
My lips quivered before I smashed my lips on Valerian’s. “I love you more…” I finally uttered the word he had been longing to hear.
Valerian smiled weakly. “I love you, honeydew… My Lilith…”
“Valerian… No! No!” I panicked and kept tapping his cheeks when he closed his eyes. I could hear his heart slowly stop breathing as well. His handsome face became paler. “No!” I screamed at the top of my lungs when he had his last breath. “Valerian…” I cried and hugged his body.
A part of me felt like half of my soul had been taken away as soon as Valerian died. It would never be the same. It hurts…
“Get up there, Dominixe!” Papa said. I was irked when he gripped my hair and forced me to look at him. “Don’t make me drag you back to the mansion. Do you understand me?”
I looked at my hand, seeing like it was obscured with his crimson blood, remembering how my sword stabbed his chest. Valerian caught me off guard by asking why I took everything from him and made him believe I was in love with him.
He failed to realize that I was also struggling with my feelings then. It would be impossible for him to decipher me, knowing how excellent I was in concealing my emotions. I was honed for many years on deceiving everyone with an impressive facade.
“I know how you are unable to free yourself. After all, I witnessed how he treated you when I was Niccolo.”
It seemed like yesterday when I met him as Niccolo. It was hard to shove in my head that they were the same person but had two souls. I did not know that was possible…
He was a creep and annoying who kept tailing me like a dog.
“You shouldn’t have witnessed it so your anger towards me wouldn’t dissipate…” I pointed out, raising my hand to cup his cheek without looking at him. “I was such an asshole for hurting you, Valerian.” It seemed like a river when my vision was impaired again.
Valerian took my hand and laced it with his. “I have witnessed your efforts of changing my fate, Lilith…” I closed my eyes, hearing that second name of mine.
It was such majestic when he was the one calling me that. I would forever cherish everything with him.
“I know how much you love me even though you have to take some extreme measures.”
I tightened my hold on his hand, which Valerian returned with the same fervor.
“I’d rather be killed than you…” I muttered.
“No. I’d rather be in the same spot again.”
“Do not be absurd. You know how much I suffered when you were gone…”
“Then, I shall say the same thing.”
Neither of us spoke for a moment. We let this silence of mending broken hearts and minds be the melody of our night. I could hear how loud his heartbeat matched mine.
It felt… surreal that I was with him again.
“Domi.”
“Hmm?”
I felt ticklish when his other hand caressed my back down to my other free hand, where his fingers traced the ring I was wearing. “You are still wearing this…” he said, breathless.
I had to look at him and saw a relief wash over his face. Something was bustling in my stomach when Valerian brought it to his lips.
“I will hold on to your promises,” I said. “Even if they became emptiness.” My eyes were on his luscious lips down to his chest, memorizing every inch of him. My lips parted, sighing softly before catching my heart quickly when it attempted to leap from my ribcage as soon as I met Valerian’s gaze.
With his strong eye contact, with very little blinking, Valerian nipped my chin. “Thank you for grieving and repenting for your mistakes, Lilith.”
I had to crease my forehead. “Why are you thanking me?” I removed his hand from mine before I decided to get up. “You are thanking me means you thought what I did to your pack members is right… Yes, sure, they are still alive, but the wounds in your heart wouldn’t just heal so quickly.” I clutched my tunic, wanting to shove my heart more profound into the abyss, where I could no longer be saved. “Allow me to suffer from this, and do not thank me, Valerian. I will forever regret what I did to your pack members and you… Furthermore, to Demetrius as well.”
I hugged my knees, burying myself into it as the cold-hearted Dominixe mirrored in my vision. Compared to my behavior, I was the worst-case scenario of evil.
“Then, I won’t forgive you.” Lifting my gaze only halfway, Valerian had this icy stare that could freeze my heart. “I wasn’t planning anyway, even if I say that I still love you.”
I nodded, accepting this painful rebuttal, enough to crumble my everything. “Yes, I understand…”
Feelings shouldn’t matter here. Weighing logical reasoning over emotions was proper.
I was already prepared that Valerian would respond this way. My sins were unforgivable.
Spine straight up with my gaze adored the moon, my moist lips formed a wistful smile-letting myself be drowned in this melancholic system of despair.
“I am prepared to atone for my sins anyway. Fret not, Valerian.” I exhaled this brazen behavior that was about to succumb to me. “But for now…”
“For now, what?” I could see the eagerness in his handsome features, seeing how he kept pursing his lips into a thin line before rolling to lick them.
“Can I kiss you, honeydew?” A bold movement from mine was something I had been looking forward to.
It was because Valerian wouldn’t have time to react to my words.
I did not wait for him to respond as I forwarded my knee between his thighs before cupping his hands with both frigid hands. Valerian gasped, holding to my waist.
“Lilith-”
I let this inner goddess be bold for tonight as I let him know through our kiss that I love him with all my heart. Knowing I was with Valerian again, I couldn’t suppress my feelings anymore.
However, this time, he might not want me again because of the sins I committed.
I wanted to cherish this last kiss with him-if this would be the last time I would taste his sinful lips.
I expected Valerian to break our kiss since he did not like being cut off. But all of a sudden, I had to swallow my gasp when he lifted me to straddle him. That was when his hand gripped my nape tightly before deepening our kiss.
His tongue, which became submissive, quickly turned the tables and submerged me. I responded with sealed-shut eyes, moaning inside his mouth.
Our kiss was passionate, tender, and sweet at first, letting our feelings blend, harvesting harmony and increasing tension. It was the kiss of longing that the lovers had finally reunited after years of being apart and could express how much they missed each other.
Our breaths mingled, stealing and serving each other’s intensity. Hearing how our hearts became one would soon go to the point where we had to align everything.
This made me teary-eyed as this was the kiss I wanted to experience again since I thought Valerian had died. I had wanted to feel his lips again, and the Moon Goddess-Mother-fulfilled this longing wish.
Valerian, I love you so much… I couldn’t afford to see you getting die before my eyes.
We slowly distanced ourselves after we were almost out of our breath. Valerian and I tenderly looked into each other, heavily panting.
Valerian grazed my cheek with his thumb before lowering it to trace my lower lip. “You really have addictive lips, honeydew…” His voice was raspy enough for my clit to palpitate while his other free hand gently pinched my flank, bringing his touch to a high level of sensation.
“Take me, Valerian… Make me the happiest woman on the earth…” I said in my sultry pitch while my moist lips were sauntering to his jaw.
His eyes glowed like an emerald stone glinted under the sunlight. I could have sworn our faces were flushing, blessed by the moonlight at this moment, silently feeling each other’s desires.
Our wolves had been trying to communicate with each other, trying to take our breath away.
Drawing closer, Valerian slowly laid me in the blanket while taking his tunic, revealing that chiseled body I always yearned for.
“How about Demetrius?” I asked, worried, when he crawled on top of me and started kissing my jaw down to the sensitive flesh in my neck. “V-Val…” My heart wouldn’t stop beating inside my chest before halting him.
His lips on my neck imprinted a mischievous smile before they reached for my ear. “I know a place where our son cannot watch us doing our deed.”
I inhaled sharply with that husky tone that tingled my cunt as our eyes met. “Please…” I gently combed his hair.
Valerian smiled sheepishly. “I shall take you there, my vicious woman…” With that, he made me wrap my legs around his torso before lifting me. “No one is going to sleep tonight…”
I shivered at the dark promise he said. I was certain that he was not going to break that.
After all, Valerian would do anything to make me happy.
