“Miss Andrews? How is that possible?” Madam Virginia’s eyes widened in shock. “I’ve heard that the Miss Andrews of this brand is extremely beautiful, elegant, and is the chief designer of X brand with close ties to the Carr Group… How could it be you?”
The mother and daughter turned green with envy and disbelief.
“Is this a joke? Has the world gone mad?”
“Why couldn’t it be me?” Sylvia smiled mischievously at Madam Virginia and Cassandra. “Thanks for boosting our brand’s sales.”
“You! You’re infuriating! I don’t believe it! I simply can’t believe it!” Cassandra was livid, her face contorted with rage. How could the Hipps family be so lucky to find such a capable daughter?
She refused to believe it.
“Don’t believe it? Isaac is my godbrother, and this brand is under the Carr Group. So, I can wear my own family’s clothes for free.” Sylvia’s tone was casual, as if she was deliberately trying to provoke them. She then turned to the sales associate, “Remember to send the bill for the eight outfits I just bought to my brother for reimbursement.”
The sales associate quickly nodded, “Yes, Miss Andrews.”
But she was worried that her commission might be lost. Sylvia reassured her, “Don’t worry, you’ll still get your commission.”
The sales associate’s face lit up with joy, “Thank you, Miss Andrews.”
Sylvia looked wickedly at the Sweeney family mother and daughter. This brand of high-end women’s clothing under the Carr Group had seen significant contributions from her. One could say that half of Isaac’s fashion empire was built with her efforts.
Meanwhile, Jaelynn and her two friends followed Sylvia stiffly, their minds still reeling from the revelation.
Who exactly was their sister?
They had never dared to enter such a high-end store before. But now, Sylvia had bought them clothes and humiliated the Sweeney family mother and daughter.
The metaphorical slap was so loud it almost swelled their faces.
“Sylvia, how are you so amazing?”
“Yeah, I’ve never felt so exhilarated in front of the Sweeney family mother and daughter.”
“Me too! Look at their faces turning green.”
“This is so satisfying!”
After their excitement subsided, Jaelynn expressed some concern, “But… those two are always ruthless and vengeful. We’ve suffered a lot at their hands. Sylvia… don’t let them…”
“Yeah! It feels great now, but they are truly malicious,” Maritza added worriedly. “What if our actions today bring trouble to the entire Hipps family?”
Sylvia stopped and looked at them calmly, “If they come with soldiers, we’ll counter with generals; if they come with water, we’ll block with earth. It’s just the Sweeney family. If they could have easily destroyed the Hipps family, they would have done it long ago.”
The art of ruling lies in balance.
This was one reason why the President, despite his dislike for the Hipps family, had not eradicated them.
He needed to balance the Sweeney family and other major families, which was why the century-old Hipps family still stood.
However, Sylvia wasn’t entirely sure if the President would develop a vendetta against the Hipps family.
After all, that middle-aged man was ruthless.
Cassandra and Madam Virginia were fuming inside the boutique, feeling as if their faces had been slapped swollen.
“Mom, how can I swallow this insult? Sylvia is shameless and too much!” Cassandra clutched her mother’s arm in fury.
She was the second miss of the Sweeney family. Above her was only the unremarkable Jocelyn. She always considered herself the top socialite of Aettosa, never even putting Lara in her eyes.
But now… her face had been trampled by Sylvia.
“In a few days, it’s Fashion Week. They will definitely attend. Just wait and see how I deal with them. Those little brats don’t know their place.” Madam Virginia patted Cassandra’s hand to comfort her. “Don’t be angry. We’ll plan our revenge carefully.”
Her eyes grew colder as she spoke. “I don’t believe that our Sweeney family can be bullied by the Hipps family. Even if I agreed to it, your father and grandfather wouldn’t. You probably don’t know…”
Cassandra was startled when Old Mr. Sweeney was mentioned. She hadn’t seen him in a long time; only her close brothers could visit him.
“Mom, what’s wrong? Isn’t Grandpa unwell?”
“He’s doing very well! Your father visited him two days ago and found him looking much younger than before, almost like he had reversed aging.” Madam Virginia sneered. She hoped for the old man’s death to inherit his wealth, but he seemed to be getting better!
Isn’t that strange?
The Sweeney family was wealthy and kept a certain Master Wood close. This Master Wood had a close relationship with the main branch of the family and might have used some dark magic.
“Really? That’s so bizarre,” Cassandra whispered, not wanting outsiders to hear their family’s secrets.
“Yes, so our Sweeney family’s prosperity will continue! No one can compare!” Madam Virginia smiled. “Let’s go home.”
“Okay.” Cassandra linked arms with her mother as they walked away in high heels. “Mom, how will you deal with them?”
“You’ll see when the time comes. I’ll avenge you for sure.”
Their voices faded into the distance…
At the Hipps Residence.
Old Mrs. Hipps saw mall staff delivering numerous packages and couldn’t stop smiling.
“Oh my, so many things! But why haven’t I received any bank statements?” Old Mrs. Hipps checked her phone in confusion. “I thought I had set up notifications for transactions!”
Clare didn’t think much of it. “Maybe you remembered wrong.”
Mollie found it amusing. “Sylvia sure knows how to shop! If I had known, I would have joined them.”
“You are an elder; they’d feel restrained with you around,” Clare teased.
Mollie glared at him playfully. “I’m not much older than them; why would they feel restrained? It’s you who’s too old.”
Clare laughed heartily.
As they spoke, four vibrant young women entered the living room.
“Grandma, we got you a gift!” Sylvia pointed to a box as she walked in. “This is for you.”
She opened the box to reveal a jade bracelet.
“This must be expensive,” Old Mrs. Hipps exclaimed.
The bracelet’s luster was pure and bright-clearly high-quality jade.
“It’s not much; as long as you’re happy.” Sylvia handed another box to Old Mr. Hipps. “This is for you.”
Old Mr. Hipps chuckled. “You got something for me too? Did you also buy gifts for your uncle and aunt?”
He opened his box to find a snuff bottle inside. “Wow, you found this? Not easy!”
“I saw it in an antique shop and thought you’d like it.” Sylvia squinted happily and handed another box to Clare. “This is for you two.”
It contained a pair of newly released couple watches from a luxury brand-stylish and elegant-just what Mollie had wanted but hadn’t yet bought.
“Oh Sylvia, I love you!” Mollie hugged Sylvia tightly.
“Let go; otherwise, my uncle will get jealous.” Sylvia pushed her away playfully and turned to the three Hipps sisters behind her. “Why are you standing there? Take your things!”
“Wait! Let me see what you bought first. I love seeing what others buy; it’s almost as good as shopping myself.” Mollie eagerly began unpacking their purchases. “Is this clothing?”
“Are these shoes?”
“My goodness! This brand is so expensive! Did you buy these for Fashion Week?”
Mollie’s exclamations filled the room.
Jaelynn bit her lip nervously, fearing Old Mrs. Hipps might scold Sylvia for spending too much money.
After all, Sylvia was using her own card…
She quietly explained to Old Mrs. Hipps and Clare about their encounter with the Sweeney family mother and daughter and how Sylvia had humiliated them.
Mother and son were shocked.
“What? You ran into that old hag from the Sweeney family? How unlucky!”
“Sylvia did the right thing!” Old Mrs. Hipps’s face showed a hint of anger. “They can’t even let us shop in peace; we must put them in their place.”
“But… we spent a lot of money,” Maritza said softly.
Though shopping felt good at the time…
But now…
“It doesn’t matter; it’s just a small amount,” Old Mrs. Hipps laughed. “Young people should dress well while they can because once you’re old, nothing looks good anymore.”
“Grandma is right,” Sylvia agreed. “I’m hungry; can we eat now?”
“Oh dear, I forgot about dinner! Everyone to the dining room!” Old Mrs. Hipps clapped her hands together. “Let’s go before it gets cold.”
The Hipps family moved en masse to the dining room where a sumptuous meal awaited them.
They began eating amidst laughter and conversation.
Sylvia had just taken a bite of mushroom when her phone buzzed with a Facebook notification.
She put down her fork and checked her phone to see a new message on Facebook.
“Darling, I miss you.”
