Chapter 1444: Shapeshifting Spell

After leaving the small building and getting into the car, Leo asked directly, “Where are we going next?”
“Take a look at this first,” Vivian Young said, handing Leo a document.
Leo took the document and began to read through it.
After finishing, he looked at Vivian Young. “Are you saying the Curse Sorcery Clan is causing trouble?”
Vivian Young nodded. “Yes, but these people are extremely secretive and cunning. WONDER has set up several traps but has never managed to catch them all.”
Just as she finished speaking, her communication watch vibrated twice.
Glancing at the watch, Vivian Young’s expression changed. “We’ve found the target, not far from Clearwater County!”
“Then what are we waiting for? Let’s go!” Leo never liked to leave things unfinished. Once he started something, he had to see it through to the end.
Vivian Young started the car and followed the location displayed on her watch.
Clearwater County was mountainous. Driving westward, they quickly entered the hills.
Although the mountain roads were not in great condition, Vivian Young’s driving skills were quite good.
Just two or three kilometers from their target, the car suddenly made a loud “bang.”
Unluckily, they had a blowout!
Getting out of the car, both Leo and Vivian Young were frustrated to find that two tires had blown out.
With only one spare tire, it was useless to replace just one.
“Leo, what should we do?” Vivian Young asked.
“You stay here and call WONDER for car repairs. I’ll go find the target.”
After speaking, Leo used an Earth Concealment Technique and instantly disappeared in front of Vivian Young.
As he approached the target location, Leo released his spiritual sense and quickly discovered a person.
The person seemed to be in a hurry, as if fleeing.
Leo canceled the Earth Concealment Technique and suddenly appeared.
The person was startled and let out a strange cry. With a wave of his right hand, a black object flew toward Leo before he darted into the nearby woods.
With a wave of his right hand, Leo shattered the black object with a soft “bang.”
Looking again, the person had already disappeared into the woods.
Without hesitation, Leo followed him into the forest.
Once inside, the light dimmed, creating an eerie atmosphere.
Leo smirked coldly and released his spiritual sense like a tidal wave.
No matter how fast that guy ran, he couldn’t escape Leo’s spiritual sense range.
Soon, Leo sensed the man’s presence hiding behind a large tree not far ahead.
Dressed in black and blending into the dim light of the forest, he was well camouflaged.
Using the Earth Concealment Technique again, Leo suddenly appeared in front of him with a heavy laugh. “Is hide-and-seek fun?”
The sudden voice startled the man.
He prided himself on hiding well and even slowed his breathing. He couldn’t understand how he had been exposed.
Sensing Leo’s strength, the man didn’t want to face him head-on. With a wave of his right hand, he released a burst of silver light and then ran off.
The silver light wasn’t a hidden weapon but numerous slender silver-white worms rushing toward Leo like lightning.
Leo vanished using the Earth Concealment Technique.
The Insect Curse lost its target and buzzed around aimlessly.
Since this guy could use an Insect Curse, he was definitely related to the Curse Sorcery Clan.
Realizing this, Leo decided not to capture him but to follow him instead.
Thus began a chase: one running ahead and one following behind for four or five kilometers.
Finally, exhausted, the man turned around and cursed angrily. “What do you want? Why are you chasing me?”
“Release the child on your back, and I might spare your life,” Leo said coldly.
“Impossible!”
“Then prepare to die.” Leo flicked his right hand, sending a rocket spell toward him.
In Leo’s view, this man’s skills were too low. A single Rocket Spell would either kill or severely injure him.
Just as the rocket was about to hit him, the man pulled out a black umbrella which deflected the spell!
He then held the unconscious child in his arms and threatened, “Do you believe I’ll kill this child?”
“I believe you.”
Leo dashed forward and aimed a punch at his head.
This punch contained spiritual energy; if it hit, blood would surely flow.
The man reacted quickly by using the child as a shield against Leo’s punch.
A sly smile appeared on Leo’s lips because this punch was merely a feint.
Suddenly lowering his stance, he pivoted on his left foot and kicked at the man’s lower body with his right foot.
The man was shocked and retreated but was too slow.
Leo’s right foot landed heavily on his left rib.
The man screamed in pain and flew sideways, spitting blood mid-air from the impact.
Leo leaped forward and delivered a heavy punch to his back before snatching the child from his arms.
The man crashed to the ground, bleeding profusely. If nothing unexpected happened, he wouldn’t survive.
But something unexpected did happen. The man suddenly sat up, his eyes flashing black. He moved his hands rapidly, sending several points of silver light toward Leo.
At the same time, he let out a strange cry and transformed into a large black cat that darted into the dense forest.
The silver light was those silver-white Curse Worms. Leo used a Spirit Fire Talisman to turn them into ashes with blazing fire.
“So it’s a Shapeshifting Spell,” Leo muttered. He had underestimated that guy.
Not willing to let him escape so easily, Leo decided to pursue him to the end!
After checking on the child, he found that the little one was breathing steadily and merely unconscious without any life-threatening injuries.
Knowing it would be inconvenient to bring the child while searching for the Curse Sorcery Clan’s lair, Leo came up with an idea.
He wrapped the child in his coat and sent Vivian Young their location via his phone before placing it beside the child.
Vivian Young should arrive soon. The child would be her responsibility then.
After some distance, Leo released his spiritual sense again but was disappointed when he couldn’t detect that guy anymore.
Strange that he could run so fast?
By now, it was sunset. Climbing a small hill, Leo stopped and looked far into the distance.
All he saw were mountains with no signs of human habitation. Only bare rocks reflected golden light in the setting sun-desolate and barren.
Farther away at the foot of distant mountains seemed to be a small grove of trees standing out as precious amidst a sea of gray-black rocks.
