“Yes, Leo, it’s been a long time. I’ve missed you,” Vivian Young said with a charming smile.
“Tell me, is there a problem you need my help with?” Leo asked, his face showing a hint of a smile. He didn’t believe Vivian Young would come all the way to Langstel just to see him.
“There is indeed something I need your help with. Can you come with me to Clearwater County?” Vivian Young responded with a question.
Clearwater County was southwest of Langstel, more than a hundred kilometers away.
Vivian Young had come specifically to find him, so it must be something important. Leo thought for a moment and agreed.
They drove directly to Clearwater Hospital, arriving in just over an hour.
Entering the hospital, Leo followed behind Vivian Young and soon they arrived at a small building. The building was old, from the seventies or eighties.
Inside the building, they went up to the second floor. Vivian Young knocked on a door and then pushed it open.
The room was spacious and modernly decorated, quite out of place with the building’s style. Inside were five or six doctors in white coats, seemingly discussing something.
“Vivian Young, you’re finally here,” said an elderly doctor with white hair, looking at her expectantly.
“Mr. Edwards, you are my senior; just call me Vivian,” she replied, pointing to Leo. “This is the comrade sent by the higher-ups. We must cooperate fully with him to handle this matter.”
Hearing this, Mr. Edwards quickly walked up to Leo and extended his right hand. “Hello, I am Eric Edwards, the director.”
Eric Edwards showed no disdain for Leo’s youth.
“My name is Leo. Nice to meet you, Mr. Edwards,” Leo replied politely.
“Please follow me,” Mr. Edwards said.
Inside the medical office was another room with a fingerprint-locked metal door. Entering, they were hit by the strong smell of disinfectant.
There were over ten beds neatly arranged inside, each occupied by a person. Every patient had an oxygen mask on their face and an IV drip attached.
“Comrades, all the patients are here. They are all in a state of shock, and despite our best efforts, we have been unable to wake them,” Mr. Edwards said with a worried expression.
Leo walked to one of the beds and reached out to lift the white sheet covering the patient.
“Don’t touch them directly; it might be poisonous,” a doctor warned.
Leo paused briefly but still lifted the sheet. The patient’s skin was blackened, and their face was terrifying, with black lines appearing under the skin like dark capillaries.
“Curse Poison?” Leo muttered to himself.
Mr. Edwards’ eyes lit up. “Comrade, what kind of curse do you think this is?”
“Bloodworm Curse,” Leo replied.
“Is there a way to cure it?” Mr. Edwards asked again.
Leo didn’t answer but extended his right index finger to touch the patient’s forehead. Spiritual energy flowed from Leo’s finger into the patient’s body.
The black veins under the patient’s skin began to contract and gather towards the chest, emitting an evil aura. The doctors instinctively stepped back.
Leo’s lips curled into a cold smile as his spiritual energy traveled through the patient’s meridians, surrounding and dissolving the black aura gathered at the heart.
The patient’s body began to tremble, causing the bed to shake and make a “thump thump” sound.
Soon, the black aura was completely dissolved by the spiritual energy, and the abnormality on the patient’s skin disappeared as their breathing stabilized.
“I’ve removed the Curse Poison; he will wake up in a few hours,” Leo said calmly.
The doctors were incredulous. Removing Curse Poison with just a touch of a finger seemed too simple-no, too incredible!
Mr. Edwards quickly checked the patient’s vital signs, confirming they had returned to normal and were no longer in danger.
“Amazing! Comrade, how did you do it?” Mr. Edwards asked excitedly.
Vivian Young coughed lightly and said four words: “Confidential regulations.”
Hearing this, all the doctors fell silent immediately.
Leo continued his work, taking over ten minutes to remove the Curse Poison from fifteen patients.
Just as he was about to take a break, three patients on nearby beds suddenly began to convulse violently, even dislodging their oxygen masks.
What’s happening?
The doctors’ anxiety returned as black gas started emanating from the patients’ mouths, followed by three blood-red worms emerging from their mouths.
The worms quickly grew to the size of an adult’s fist within moments. Covered in spikes and possessing a bizarre mouth full of sharp teeth, they flew despite having no wings.
The Bloodworms circled in the air before targeting the doctors and flying straight at them.
“Live Bloodworms! Everyone get out!” Leo shouted.
The doctors hurriedly retreated outside.
“Vivian, you should go too and protect Mr. Edwards.”
“Alright, Leo, be careful,” Vivian Young replied as she escorted the doctors out.
Leo took out a talisman and activated it. Three flames shot out like swords at the Bloodworms. The worms dodged nimbly in mid-air and continued towards Leo.
Leo smirked and activated another talisman, summoning three ice arrows. The flames turned around and combined with the ice arrows to form an attack from both sides.
Caught between fire and ice, the Bloodworms panicked and tried to escape but were quickly overwhelmed. One worm let out a strange cry before turning to ash in the flames. Another was pierced by an ice arrow and turned into a pool of blood. The third was crushed under Leo’s foot like a squashed tomato.
After dealing with the Bloodworms, Leo stepped outside where the doctors immediately surrounded him.
“Comrade, are you alright?” Mr. Edwards asked with concern.
“I’m fine,” Leo replied casually.
At that moment, Leo’s image grew in stature in the eyes of the doctors. They looked at him with newfound respect and even awe. The mysterious agents of their country were indeed formidable, handling something as terrifying as Curse Poison with ease.
