“Doesn’t President Dora think I’m unlucky?”
Tracy Dora said in a low voice, “If you come to think of it, isn’t it frustrating that the girl Nick Cage fell in love with for the first time, rejected him so much? It is really interesting to think that the most powerful man in the Capital, the king of power, was so frustrated because of a woman.”
It was a bold inference from Tracy. But this should not be heard by Nick. Otherwise, she would have to crawl out of the room if Nick did hear it.
But although it could be true, Veronica Parker could not laugh about it.
Because the truth was, she was the one who was unlucky to be targeted by people like Nick.
If one would analyze the events that unfolded between them, one might say that it was still Veronica’s own fault. It was because she went to the bar for a drink that night that she ran into Nick. Even if it was fated for them to meet that night, she knew she was pregnant with six children. This completely blocked her way and did not give her a chance to fulfill her promise.
After hanging the dextrose and seeing that Veronica looked better than before, Tracy left.
The dextrose she had hung will last for three days.
Soon, the servant came to feed Veronica her lunch.
She had not woken up ever since the time Nick went down that morning.

So, Veronica just took a nap in the afternoon.
Suddenly, the door of the room was pushed open and a black figure came in quietly.
Veronica, who was lying on the bed, slept peacefully. She looked as defenseless as a child in that state.
Meanwhile, Nick stood on the edge of the bed and stared at her as if she would never wake up for a long time.
When Veronica finally woke up hours later, she saw her bag on the sofa.
She remembered that she did not bring anything when she ran away that day. It wasn’t clear to her how she carried a backpack and pretended to be a maid. She knew she had to avoid being located through her phone’s locator, so she had not taken anything with her at all.
And so, she had not seen the bag since then.
Right now, she knew she did not have to think about it. Because surely, it was brought by Nick Cage.
She had stayed in this place without a cell phone, let alone a TV to watch on. It was as if she was cut off from the rest of the world.
She now realized that it was not difficult to be isolated when Nick wanted to.
When Veronica was about to get up, the maid who was standing outside the glass door hurriedly came in to help her. The maid asked her, “Do you need help to go to the bathroom?”
But Veronica refused her support and said, “No, I can go by myself.”
She could feel that she was much better now, so she didn’t need the maid’s assistance.
But the maid still remained for fear that something might happen to Veronica under her watch.
When Veronica noticed this, she sat down on the sofa and told the maid, “Get out.”
The maid hesitated, but she eventually went out with her head down.
Then, Veronica opened her backpack.
Soon, she saw her cell phone was lying quietly inside it.
When she saw that it was off, she immediately turned it on.
She knew that someone purposely turned it off.
After it was turned on, she saw from her ‘missed calls list’ that Lucy Underwood called her several times. She used her cell phone and landline to call her.
She also saw that people at the TV station whom she had a close connection with, had called her.
But Veronica was not in the mood to reply. Moreover, it was impossible for her to return to the TV station.
They can search for another host to replace her again.
She knew that television stations owned by the KING Group were even more fearless.
As Veronica continued to flip through her phone, she found a strange number.
She initially thought it was Green hair who called her and asked for payment.
She dialed the number back. The phone rang twice before her call was picked up. Veronica immediately spoke, “Green hair?”
But she was answered with a low chuckle. The person on the other side of the line asked her, “Who are you calling?”
Veronica was stunned when she heard the voice. She didn’t expect it to be Saxon Raglan. Since her cooperation with Saxon was over, she knew that he would have no reason to call her. After all, it wouldn’t be necessary for either one of them to contact each other.
Saxon interrupted her thoughts when he suddenly said, “I learned something and I thought you might be interested.”
Veronica was in a complete stupor. She didn’t know if there is still something that she would be interested in. Now that she was living a life worse than death, it felt as if she was staring into an abyss. At that point, it was hard for her to imagine what Saxon meant by that ‘something’ he had found out.
Saxon continued to say, “It was Chloe Bowen’s idea for Tom Parker to go after the people around you. And this included the death of Toby Cage.”
Veronica slowly got up from the sofa and asked unsteadily, “What did you just say? How did you know about this? You’re not lying to me, are you?”
Saxon Raglan replied, “I have no reason to lie to you. Even I was surprised when I learned about this. But because had to leave the capital immediately, I didn’t have the chance to tell you. But I think it’s not yet too late to tell you, is it?”
This truth hit Veronica Parker so hard that she could hardly stand. She had always thought that it was Tom Parker who was causing all their trouble. But it turned out that it was Chloe Bowen who was behind all these.
She knew that Saxon would not have any reason to lie to her. But she could not understand why.
She could not understand why Chloe had to be so ruthless. She killed Isabella. Now, she was also the one who killed Toby Cage. Veronica could help but wonder, ‘Does it satisfy Chloe every time I lost someone I cared about?’
The truth was, Veronica, didn’t deal with Chloe | before because she didn’t see the need to kill her. After all, Chloe was John Cage’s mother.
Veronica kept on asking in her head why Chloe would do those things to her. As she pondered on this, Veronica’s heart sank. She sat weakly on the sofa as tears of hatred slide down her cheeks.
When Saxon realized Veronica had been quiet for quite a while, he asked her, “Should I not have told you?”
Veronica replied in a hoarse voice, “No. Thank you for telling me.”
Meanwhile, Saxon who was in a car while they were talking, arrived in front of the mansion. He got off, went into the hall, and asked the housekeeper next to him, “Have you fed the dog?”
“It was fed just now.”
Saxon reminded, “Take good care of him and don’t let him die.”
“Yes, Sir.”
Meanwhile, Clare Parker who had heard it as she came in from the outside, went up to him and asked, “Do you have a dog? Why didn’t I see it?”
Saxon looked back at her and his amber eyes were like a glacier. He replied, “Isn’t it exciting to have more dogs?”
But Clare felt weird about his statement so she asked, “What do you mean? ”
“Nothing.”
Veronica put down her phone and walked to the glass door. The free sky outside looked like a blur in her tearful eyes.
Her heart was so tired. She could not understand why Chloe had to do those hurtful things to her.
She bitterly thought, ‘Tom Parker and Chloe, do I still owe you even in my last life? You’ve abused me when I was a kid. And as if that wasn’t enough, you also killed the people I care about!’
‘Isabella and Toby died because of you. You deserve to die a painful death, a death that is ten thousand times painful!’
Suddenly, the door opened and Nick Cage came in.
Veronica looked back and held back the tears in her eyes.
He asked her, “Are you feeling better?”
Veronica looked down and replied, “I miss the baby.”
Nick’s body shook suddenly and his black eyes stood in a daze. But two seconds later he came back to his senses and said, “I’m calling them to send the baby.” Then, he turned his back to get his phone. But he suddenly remembered that he did not bring his phone with him when he went up. So he said, “My phone is down there, I have to go and get it.”
With that, he turned and left the room.
Veronica looked at the open room door in a trance. She vengefully thought, ‘Chloe Bowen, just wait for me.’
Meanwhile, Nick Cage went downstairs, picked up his cell phone, and called his driver. He told him, “I want you to go now and take the child to Sea View Villas. No… Wait a minute. You’d better take the baby back to Winter Villa. I’ll be back in an hour!”
“All right, Mr. Cage.”
But Nick changed his mind again and said, “No you don’t have to go yet.”
The driver was slightly confused.
But Nick hangs up the phone. After thinking carefully about it, Veronica’s health is not yet in good condition. Moreover, the six children were very uncontrollable. He thought that the kids would only make Veronica too tired and it would only worsen her condition.
Just as he was making his way back to the room, he saw that Veronica was about to open the glass door and go out.
And as soon as the glass door was halfway open, he grasped at Veronica’s wrist. His grip was too tight that Veronica was unable to break free from him.
Nick told her in a low voice, “You cannot go out just yet.”
Veronica tried to yank her arm out of his hand.
But Nick just kept quiet and looked at her with his deep black eyes.
Veronica suddenly asked him, “When will you leave?”
Nick replied, “When you have recovered well and could go back to Winter Villa.”
Although she wanted to sarcastically ask him if he had done nothing but dial an empty number downstairs, Veronica kept quiet.
She said nothing more and returned to her bed. She closed her eyes and went to sleep.
Nick just looked at the way she didn’t accept or resist. As long as Veronica wouldn’t tell him to leave, he would stay by her side and spoil her all the time.
