What Chloe didn’t know was that the hallway monitor was already turned off.
Toby Cage saw Chloe at the parking lot.
Chloe did not find Toby suspicious so she did not think anything of it.
Chloe was summoned by the police a day later. She was very anxious but she went to the police station well-prepared for interrogation.
In the interrogation room, Chloe flatly denied her involvement. “I don’t even resent him! Why would I want to kill him?
“It’s very experienced of you to turn off the monitor. The nurses found out that it has been turned off when the alarm did not go off.” Asked the policeman.
Chloe was astonished. “I did no such thing! I don’t even know how to turn that off!” She exclaimed incredulously.
“Then who turned it off? Do you think the Doctor did it? Or was it the Nurses?” Asked the policeman.
Of course, that is impossible. But Chloe genuinely doesn’t know.
When she got to the ward, she just took a pillow and tried to suffocate Eden Cage.
Chloe denied all their accusations. She shouted that the Nurse was gravely mistaken.
There was no sufficient evidence so they finally released her.
In the car, Chloe explained to Kevin Cage that she was falsely accused. “How could I go and kill my brother-in-law? I have nothing against him!” Except for cheating.
Kevin was not talking but he also wondered, “Why did you go to the hospital? You didn’t even tell me that you were going to visit him.”
“How can I asked you when you’ve been busy lately? You didn’t even have time to visit your own brother. You were more concerned of avoiding gossips so I went for you. How could that Nurse accused me. I held the pillow a little too high because I was trying to flatten it. The next thing I know, the nurse accused me of trying to suffocate your father. I’ve never heard anything so outrageous.” Chloe said sarcastically.
Kevin took her hand. “Please don’t be angry. The company has been really busy lately. We’ll go on a trip when work is over. What do you think?”
“Really? Don’t break your promise or I’ll punish you.” Chloe leaned her head on his chest. But the tenderness on his face was gone and he breathed a sigh of relief.
She was not scared of anything as long as Kevin believed her.
Kevin’s cell phone rang and he answered it. He didn’t know what to say, “Awake? I’ll be right there!”
He hanged up the phone and told the driver to go to the hospital.
“Who’s awake?” Chloe has a bad feeling.
“Eden is awake.”
Chloe froze on the spot. ‘Really? Why did he wake up?’
Noticing a weird reaction from Chloe, Kevin asked, “What’s the matter?”
“Nothing. I thought it was a little strange. He was still in a coma when I went to the hospital. How did he wake up in one night?” Chloe was nervous but she pretended that she was just confused.
Eden Cage can’t be awake. It was better that he was in a coma than to be awake.
Kevin was confused as well and he didn’t have answer. They were both silent until they reached the hospital.
Eden Cage was indeed awake.
The doctor said he might have woken up because he was stimulated and he looked at Chloe as he spoke.
Chloe looked at the doctor coldly and wanted to stab him to death. “What are you trying to say?!”
It will definitely stimulate the person to wake up if his pillow is stuffy. She wanted to laugh but that would be inappropriate.
If that’s the case, Chloe regretted trying to flatten his pillow.
The first person to be informed that Eden was awake was Toby Cage. He did not bother to go to the hospital.
Toby was thinking why would Chloe wanted to kill his father. He does not care about his father’s affairs as long as it has nothing to do with him. If he ends up hurt or dead, it doesn’t concern him. He was just curious why Chloe wanted him dead.
What he knows is Chloe broke up the marriage of Nick Cage’s parents and succeeded in taking office at their company.

Toby was hesitant in sending the video to Veronica.
He was hugely disappointed when his father woke up. He should have been in a coma permanently.
Toby took a picture of himself and sent it to Veronica.
Veronica Parker was in a meeting so she ignored her phone when it vibrated.
She didn’t take out her phone until the end of the meeting. She saw a selfie of Toby Cage. He seems to be recovering well. She honestly doesn’t care.
Two seconds later, her phone rang.
Veronica entered her office and closed the door before answering his call. “What do you want?”
“If you are not doing anything, why didn’t you at least call me? I can come to you if you wanted me to.”
“If you talk nonsense again, I’ll hang up on you.”
“I’m recovering well.” Toby Cage changed his tune. “Veronica, are you scared if I die?”
“I’m not vicious. I don’t want anyone to die. Stranger or not, I’ve never wished someone dead.” She is no longer with Toby but she doesn’t want him dead.
“Am I a stranger?”
“The most familiar stranger.” Veronica said and paused.
With that, there was silence and the atmosphere was depressing.
Veronica knew she had said what Toby doesn’t want to hear but she had said everything she wanted to say.
It’s not that Toby doesn’t understand. He’s just having a hard time letting go of her.
He remembered he said ‘I love you’ in the car that day. How can she make the person unloved her?
It’s really interesting, one who only likes her body and one who loves her.
People with brains would have chosen someone to love them where as someone who only uses them for their pleasure.
“Have you contacted Chloe?” After a long silence, Toby Cage asked.
Veronica was stupefied by the sudden change of topic. “I saw her last time I sent my child to school.”
“What did you say to her?”
“I said a few words casually but I had nothing further to say.”
“Do you hate her?”
“Not at all.” Veronica Parker said.
Her fantasy when she was a child was long gone when Chloe Bowen took advantage of her unsuspecting nature and stole money from her.
As long as she doesn’t mess with her.
She was just wondering why would Toby asked her about her mother.
There was a knock on the door and Lucy Underwood came in and said, “Host Parker, your mother is here.”
Veronica turned around and saw Chloe following Lucy.
Chloe had been to the TV station before so Lucy knows that she’s Host Parker’s mother. There was nothing wrong with her coming to the office.
Toby who was still on the phone heard everything.
What does she want with Veronica?
Does it have something to do with Eden Cage?
“I have to go.” Veronica said and hung up the phone. “I’ll take it from here.” she said to Lucy.
“Good.” Lucy went out and closed the door.
She does not want to ruin her own image if she were to drag Chloe out from her office.
“Didn’t I tell you not to come here and pretend we’re acquaintances?” Veronica Parker said angrily.
“Veronica, what on earth have I done to make you so angry? Is it because of the 5 billion dollars? Can you not forgive your mother?”
